Mechs are cool
More dakka is more fun

In theory, the alien coalition theme is cool for variety; would give a T'au collection a lot of secondary uses for like, a pool of models for rpg encounters type shit.
But y'know; that would require the T'au to be well executed, and Warhammerfags to be willing to reintroduce rpg stuff back into a wargame that long since "streamlined" all that out.
But I digress.

Retrofuture tech-aesthetic
Little guy making an impact in a big-boys playground
One of very few factions in 40k that isn't violently hyper-xenophobic
Despite the setting being a fantastical future where some technology is just magic, Tau Battlesuits are distinct as being the only true mech-suits in the setting
You think swords are fukken ghey in sci-fi
You want an humanoid alien race that is more than just humans with pointy ears and a different type of arrogance.

Actually humans also have smug utopian collectivists.
It's just that their societies tend to develop backwards.
But hey, Sci-fi.

They're fun. I like a mostly ranged focused faction and them being somewhat optimistic and mostly coherent is good because it contrasts with the rest of the setting. The mechs and railguns are also fun

Man I really miss the era where boxes had paintings of the model doing its stuff in-universe on the front instead of a plain old photo. Using different fonts and presentation styles for different factions was cool as well, Imperial vehicles having the exact mark and (presumably) date it entered service next to the name really tickled my autism in the best way, the whole thing really felt like you were buying a historical model kit but for a fictional setting.

I really like this orange camo. Probably gonna use it when I start building my tau army.

Gooner shit isn't part of the 4-k tabletop game experience and never will be. Having a wank is fine but I cannot believe for even a single second that anyone, ANYONE has ever gotten into a 40k faction of all things because of clearly non-canon gooner shit. I doubt even Sisters players because the models are ugly as fuck.

mecha are cool, and the alien auxiliaries are also cool. The caste warriors are whatever.

Theres no good reason to get into any 40k faction in 2026, but tau are especially bad. If you like the alien confederation angle you dont get any auxillaries models, all you get is battlesuits. If you like armour? Battlesuits. If you like battlesuits? You might as well just play marines, its the same heavy infantry spam but you'll get more rules options, lore and model support.

Really cool mechs. Me though, I don't play or even engage with 40k, but my favorite designs are the tyrannids. I love those fucked up lizard-bugs in terms of design, and I've seriously considered learning to paint and dropping money on some models.

I like their unit design and I like to paint them.
If you need any other reason for any given faction that is "yours", you have problems.

Define "invested"

Like the other 40k xenos factions, their lore is puddle deep and riddled with retcons

You can read nearly ever bit of lore about them in less than a month even if you aren't a NEET

If you like their aesthetic and play style, then go for it, collect enough for whatever sized games are played in your area, come up with some cool backstories for your dudes if you are into that sort of thing, but don't count on being able to really immerse yourself in lore like you would the Imperium or the main factions of other large franchise settings

There isn't one. Them and eldar both have zero value to modern 40k beyond porn and sometimes getting their teeth kicked in. They're NPC loser factions.
>>
>>97892528
I like having one faction that hasn't yet given up on genuine hope
like, will the universe beat it the fuck out of them? Good chances it will. But it's nice for now

Do you like Gundam? Tau have mechs that are like Gundam if Gundam looked cool and not like generic space knights.
Do you like parrots? Tau have carnivorous tribal parrot men.
Do you like communism? Tau have a totalitarian caste-based society with a slightly more red flavor than the Imperium.
Do you like being the "good guys?" Tau fight for The Greater Good. You can easily fluff /yourdudes/ as a custom sept that eschews the more sinister aspects of Tau society and reflects the meme of "what if the Federation from Star Trek existed in 40k and was founded by some blue cowfish."

I liked the star wars prequel aesthetic. I can get star wars rebel armour soldiers and guns(It's modded ww2 surplus) for guard, but boxy guns give the armor and ayys something unique.
I'm not talented enough to make an alien only aesthetic wargame, or able to give it critical mass of players.

bad bait. you just lost me with this already. Crisis suits and dick guns are horrible.

They're indian coded. Its why they're blue like rama and the fanbase are the most depraved gooners within the gw ip. Yes, Im counting skaven and furfags.

Alternatively I'd like to get a clear image of what's actually in the box.
