Some news regarding the MotU MBS sets:
So, with the piece count compared to the figure count, I’m not sure if these “new micro world figures in dynamic poses” are actually articulated, or if they’re called dynamic simply because the poses vary from figure to figure even though each one is static.
The Fright Fighter, though, is a helicopter, which gives it the highest chance of using the old micro action figure system. It’s much smaller compared to Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, which are full fortresses. Because of that, there are basically three possible outcomes.
1. The “new micro world figures” is just a rebrand of the current micro action figure system. That would be the best case scenario. Maybe the Fright Fighter could carry that legacy even if the other two sets don’t, simply because of its smaller size.
2. It’s an entirely new figure system. Whether it’s larger than the micro action figure system, or more or less articulated, remains to be seen.
3. Worst case scenario, they standardize the 1x1 stud static figure system. You know, the 1x1 Cortana, Roland, Vault Boy, and Squid Game Pink Soldiers. I’m not against that system, but I’m hoping it won’t end up being a cop out that replaces the micro action figure system. Then again, all eyes are on the Fright Fighter… unless they somehow decide to include a 1x1 Skeletor figure with it, which would honestly be kind of laughable.
Right now, the full lineup of Mattel Brick Shop Masters of the Universe movie sets seems to be:
>Buildable Display Havoc Staff
>Buildable Display Power Sword
>Buildable Display Skeletor Bust
>Castle Grayskull with micro world figures
>Snake Mountain with micro world figures
>Roton display set
>Fright Fighter display set
>Buildable Display Battle Cat
It really feels like Mattel has given up on aiming these at kids. Mattel Brick Shop looks like it’s going to be geared more toward teens and adults instead.

And here's the prototype for the diecast warthog that should be included in the set which means more adult style sets. Dunno how to feel about all of this.

Why is it so hard for bootlegos to make their own "minifig"?
>>11735157
It's a fucking shame if Mega dropped their microfigure, that was better than Lego and set them apart.

It had a great system for customization, but I wish the waist was easier to separate and combine. I wouldn't mind going forward if they used a plain buck for consistency, since making new detailed moulds on a 2inch figure sounds expensive. However, they need to stop making the heads realistic and follow Lego's cartoony look. If they ever return to Halo, then the Spartans' helmets need to be an accessory. I don't mind if they look oversize. I think that's part of the charm for this scale.

I think it’s hard for Mega to create a new figure that could work with everything. They’ve tried it a few times with the kids’ sets and failed, their success lies in them being micro action figures. I do think it’s possible to create that kind of figure, but I don’t know if fans will be open to a new type of figure for Halo.
Still better than whatever they plan to use in MotU sets, which seem to be literal statues.

Why do you hate Mega so much?
>>
>>
>>
>>11735245
I till think that they could release stuff like G.I.Joe and concentrate on the figures and they would do well. ditto generic fantasy where you could gear up and customize the figures. A lot of people use LEGO figs for minis with gaming and people could make their characters for games a s well
>>
>>11735166
>Why is it so hard for bootlegos to make their own "minifig"
It's not hard for them to make their own figures. It's hard for them to sell their own figures in the US, because Lego had successfully gatekept them out of the US marketplace.

I have a feeling this will be the only and possibly final Halo Mega set we will ever see again. Doesn’t even have figures.
They already did a big buildable Warthog years ago by the way. It probably won't look that much different.

I kinda like it
MBS MotU, designer mentioned we get more nanofigures in the other sets. I guess around 16-18 nanofigs for this $80 set
I wonder if they reveal more MBS sets Today or that was it, MotU will have around 6-8 sets this year for the movie.
>>
>>11739015
I also expect Halo to have the same fate as this, I do think Mgea Bloks did this type of figure at one point tho?
>>
>>11739016
Also MBS is not for kids lol
I'm just glad we get something else other than carstuff

So its all true then, this means we get 8 sets this year for motu:
>Buildable Display Havoc Staff
>Buildable Display Power Sword
>Buildable Display Skeletor Bust
>Castle Grayskull with micro world figures
>Snake Mountain with micro world figures
>Roton display set
>Fright Fighter display set
>Buildable Display Battle Cat
The designer mentioned we'll get more of these nanofigs in the other sets so I guess they are in roton and fright fighter too, somehow?

If they’re going out of their way for that many new molds for micro figs, it’s probably safe to assume there might never be an articulated mega style fig in the MOTU line again, I also expect Halo to have the same fate

So they're ditching the one thing that set Mega apart from their competitors.
They probably won't sell as well because of it but then Mattel will conclude that it's because people don't want playset-likes and will just keep making Hot Wheels sets.
I hope you guys like cars.

Some new info:
>Castle Grayskull will release on April 26th
>will retail for $65
>atleast 2 new themes are also releasing this year (said to be old and new) so I guess Halo and some other license?
>we get 8 MotU sets this year, unknown if we get classic microfigures in other sets or more nanofigs (Snake Mountain is confirmed to have nanofigs)
>Mattel wants Brick Shop to be Lego's direct competitor and are investing in it and better distribution than Mega ever had.
>There's speculation MBS will have the DC license starting 2027 but that's not confirmed yet.
Anyway, this is all we know so far, are you looking forward to the future of Mattel Brick Shop? What new theme would you like to see? Personally I want them to try Game of Thrones again with House of the Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms!

I apologize if this is not the right place to ask this question.
Do these building block characters have a name? I've seen them in many stores in my city, but they are obviously bootlegs. Many of them don't even have a brand name on the box. At first glance, they resemble miniature LEGO pieces. However, they have teeth on the sides, allowing them to be connected horizontally as well.

New shelf setup. This shelf is entirely MOCs. A new base built for my Forestmen plus treehouse n ship, Wizard cart, small cart, new Wolfpack Castle. Plus a remake of Wolfpack Tower as a Kraken Raiders base with added dock.
My Witch Hut is cool but not playable with how fragile it is floating, so I may take it down n built a more comfy smaller Witch hut.
I plan to make my next pick a brick order to get parts to remake Forestmen Crossing. That'll look tight and expand for a fuller forest look on left of the shelf.
I also plan to switch out the red roofing for blue on that Forestmen base when I get more blue

Old Mega Bloks would have done it perfectly. They were already 90% there with the Dragons Universe line. Just replace the dragons with giant bugs. If we're not getting any more proper figs though, then I don't want Mattel touching any such licenses.

There's also a Elden Ring movie coming from A24 possibly for 2027 or 2028 and Mattel Brick Shop could do sets too. Actually, since we get new Alien/Predator media from Disney and Lego will never touch it why not? Mattel has a chance to make tie in media sets with popular IPs that Lego won't touch because its too adult for them.

Built Cobi's Tank Museum version of Tiger 131 recently myself with the camo pattern, have the Sherman Easy 8 unofficial "Fury" of theirs to build at some point as well. They removed their biggest selling point to LEGO when they removed the more articulated figures.
Thus makes perfect sense as they are currently selling / leasing licensing to LEGO.
I'm sure it's great for the shareholders and shitty for everyone else.
>>11751791
Except for the last legs and shitty distribution at the end the line was pretty good.
The fallout stuff was also okay but the decision to have a very small number of figures with more expensive build was a problem - ditto the Witcher.
- now if you want a failure look at the Squid Game set.
