I keep meaning to get one of these to check the articulation out. How dynamic can they get?
>>11737416
30mm (Thirty Minute Mission) bandai kit. Setting agnostic, they have a fantasy line and a longer running sci fi one.

the articulation is good, and I got a stand for it, I am also getting these but I have to wait a while. I thought I might not like it but upon getting it and building it I AM QUITE PLEASED WITH IT. I WILL PROBABLY GET MORE. BASED AXE KNIGHT.

Might as well get the full armor version when it's available. It just came out in Japan, should hit US retailers in a couple months or so.>>11737840

Because it's a Necro Knight and not a proper 'mancer I guess.

These damn things are like candy, I have a small army of the 30mm ones and built (literally) and Adventuring Party out of the 30mf stuff. I got a set of skeletons and the wyvern on pre-order and just ordered the tan spartan with accessory set, the monk and the samurai today. Might get more of the base spartan figure to flank the boss one while the other two work as a duo of assassins to harass my party.
Still waiting on an add on kit for my mage, who I still have to build, but the rest of the party is the Warrior (pic related), the Ranger and a rogue made from a 30mm Acerby type B. I also have a Dark Paladin as the leader of the bad guys (which will be the skeletons, one of the Megalomaria Goblins and the Spartan dudes). My only real complaints about the kits is that 1) I wish the Warrior's expansion armor was red, not brown and 2) I wish their weapons had square handles not round. The grips of their hands aren't tight so a round handle kind of flops about. Both are things I'd be capable of fixing, but I just wish I didn't have to fix them at all.

I also got an ash ketchum today, pretty good quality.

Yes I noticed the round handle problem.
>>11737858
I ordered an machine gun kit for them, (I ordered 2 portanovas because I like them), because they kind of look like german infantry to me, I liked the idea of it having a machine gun slung over it's shoulder. considering they're 1/144 is funny

I do wish that the weapons' handles were squared so they fit better in the hand. The assassins' knives are an they fit in the hands perfect, so I don't understand why the other weapons aren't.
>>

>>11738890
Feels pretty much the same. They may be slightly taller, but that could also be because the bots are more athletic looking so it may just be a proportions thing. They also have better, more natural articulation, as their core bodies are supposed to mimic organic human builds. And they do have some nice quality joints so they're not flopping around. Other then that standard model kit hollow feeling and the aforementioned square hand with round handles issue, they make for fine figures.
>>
>>11738890
the fantasy is much better imo, I just built the portanova and the center joint that connects the torso to waist, especially since I attatched the machine gun build to it, comes off and feels weak, they are also smaller than the fantasy ones, you get more bang for your buck with them imo. I will build the liber knight later. Portanova feels a bit cheap but i like the way it looks. They're just 30 minute kits after all.

I would get the swordsman next, but that's all I'm going to get from fantasy for now. Now I'm waiting for my second portanova, the gardonova, and next month the alto. These stands I got for them also work well with other figures, my clone trooper and link are happy.

My 2nd portanova and the gardonova arrived. THe gardonova reminds me of something out of megaman like it will pop out of the sand like a crab and claw you, I thought that was cool.

Been working on this for a long while, but finally got around to painting it a couple weeks ago, not quite done yet. I was shocked when I had this guy sitting around, and then Bandai announced the Dragonia Knight, so it kind gave me the kick in the ass to finish this Rosan Dragonslayer. I almost went with gold instead of purple, but i think that would've been too on the nose

>>
>>11739847
So if you look at the tiny slip of lore we have for Thirty Minutes Fantasy, the Rosan Empire seem like a more sinister organization, led by someone possibly like the Lord of Blades from Eberron, but I guess necromancy is too much even for them.
Also those last three seconds give me hope for bonus kits full of creatures you can take apart and use as accessories, Monster Hunter style
>>
>>11739951
That looks great. The shiny purple was a great choice. Only thought might be to do something with the gray, maybe a wash, since in comparison it just looks like unpainted plastic. Still, looks good as is too.
>>
Built the gardonova, like it better than the portanova actually more simple and gruntish, my second portanova felt better to build for some reason the ball joints felt more secure. I have a little army of toys now.

Yea, it seems the Rosan are a more strictly militarized kingdom compared to the Liber kingdom, which seems to the more traditional RPG Adventurer based kingdom. It's a simple way to have that good v evil motif for the line, and makes things more interesting when new factions like the Dragonia Knights or the asian inspired Meteoric sets. It helps build this world without actually needing a story to go along with it.
That said, I kind of would've preferred to see Liber and Rosan get some kits unique to their own factions instead of seeing light and dark versions of every class and upgrade. It would also be nice to see some sort of effeminate Silhouette body type, to go along with the tall skinny/short stocky options. Also, just being able to get cheap Silhouettes in general would be nice. A base body to make use of some of the spare parts you collect from swapping out option parts.
As for the monsters, them adding small ones that include swappable armor bits in some of those accessory sets would be awesome. But I'd want to see more kits like the Drow Wyvern and Skeletons, just more bio-mechanical monsters for these guys to hunt down and turn into gear. The Giant Ants or Stone Golem from one of the earlier trailers would make for some fanastic kits.

They're starting that with the two new armor sets coming out: Liberl Commander for the Knight, and Rosan Fortress for the Lancer.

Armored Assault Mech, love this little dude.
>>
>>11744457
>>11745444
Feels like that guy is a smaller, cheaper scout mech or some sort of behind the lines worker or training mech compared to the others being more full frontal combat mechs. The few 30mm sets I have all felt pretty solid for how cheap they were, but I don't have the lil guy so maybe he's a downgrade.
I will say that the Fantasy line just feels far nicer. Maybe it's because all the mechs have more human proportions and shapes, but they look and feel better to mess with. I still gotta build the Mage for my team and BBTS just got the Liber Swordsman in stock, so I'll be getting him soon. But not his armor set sadly, which looks to be one of the best upgrades they put out so far.
>>11743696
I put a small cloak on the purple one and now she's the rogue in my 30mf adventuring party. For the most part she matches well, but her head is very much larger and her blockier limbs kind of stand out. Might hunt down one of the Assassin sets and start swapping limbs or something so she fits in better.

Guess I should post my WIP too.
I was basing it on the Myrmidon transformation in BoF3 but I need to redo the hair and paint the arms and legs as well as somehow get the tail on because that body doesn't have a port on the back.
>>

>>11751300
I've been wanting to get the lancer and mage but they're never in stock at the shop near me.
I mostly want the mage for the goofy fucking wizard upgrade.
Right now all I have are a knight and an assassin, plus the campfire and chest additions.
>>
>>11747319
>The weapons isnt thick enough for the hands imo
Literally one of my biggest complaints with the line as a whole. Their hands have square openings with honestly not very tight grips. Their weapons have round shafts with no grip or texture. It makes the even the most basic of action poses almost impossible to pull off. And all of that could have been addressed right from the start by just making their weapons have either square or even hexagonal grips. Multiple flat surfaces would fit way more snug in a hang and prevent droopage and flopping about.
>>11750465
It's a really fun line with a fairly unique concept behind it. I would love to see more of this world expanded past the kits, either some sort of decent game or a cheap animated series or something. The little teaser shorts are a lot of fun and I'd happily watch full episodes of that kind of stuff.
>>11751657
>>11752201
Archer is great overall, but his bow is SUPER fiddly. He comes with these plastic semi elastic strips that act as his bow string. But when you pose him with the string pulled back, the arms of the bow flex as to show them getting drawn back. But doing so makes the actual string loose so it's a pain in the butt to line up right with his string pulling hand.
Excellent set otherwise, the vivid green makes him pop in the collection as the rest of the line uses fairly muted colors, so he more then stands out in a crowd. The asymmetrical armor also helps make him a more unique character.
>>
>>11756444
>either some sort of decent game
And the only genre I think they'd do 30MF justice is a Golden Axe/Dragon's Crown/Capcom's DnD clone. The jobs are exactly some of the playable characters classes in those games.
On other news the 30MF Skellies are selling really well in Japan. Bandai would be bigger fools not to reprint them often.
>>
>>11756444
>It makes the even the most basic of action poses almost impossible to pull off
Trips checked
This is my first kit from this line. I have to get an action base stand for it to post properly. Without it's stand I have to balance it on it's spear
