Haulathon is going on, stores SHOULD be setting an endcap or stocking the product. Your mileage will vary.
Last week's Friday Target website drop was the Stan Sakai turtles and Usagi.

They have really great sculpts and are generally great figures. Some waves have worse paint QC than others like wave 3, which had a lot of delays. April in that wave has a foot socket usually with paint that sticks on the joint on one foot. It's best to heat her ankle up and pop the foot off the peg, then peg it back in rather than twist them because of it. Really good shelf presence on these guys.
>>
>>11743948
Definitely worth getting, just not at retail price.
There's a lot of QC niggles, occasionally badly-scaled weapons, and I have no idea what happened with astro-raph but it really makes me want to somehow fix it.. do you think it'd be possible to pry his torso open without ruining the whole figure, and use putty and shit? hm
but yeah just in general, hairdry your tight joints, polyurethane up your loose joints, and watch for any other little mistakes (like my metalhead michelangelo had his backpack assembled wrong)

Can someone explain to me why it was such a trend for years that playmates toy would show off a bunch of new figures at events like toy fair and comic con and then unceremoniously cancel like half of the new figures they showed off at said shows? Theyve done this for over a decade at least, and its not only TMNT that was affected even other lines like netflix voltron had a similar fiasco with their figure line where most of the characters they showed off ended up not getting made. Why was playmates so fucking cheap and lazy? It makes me not have any sympathy for them as a company that they are losing the license now in fact if anything its pretty cathartic to see them suffer because for all the figures i wanted they cancelled and now playmates has to suffer losing turtles license as the consequences for their mishandling of the property.

According to them its because WalMart (they say "vendors", but lets face it, its just WalMart) didn't want them. Which is pretty likely, given how much WalMart sucks.

Doubt, hasbro and other companies have no issue pushing figures to walmart and other stores, it just seems like a copout answer for playmates to get excused from making more new molds so they can release more shitty rehashed turtle variants instead.
>>
>>11744305
Ha, you clearly haven't read up on WalMart. Remember TMNT Fast Forward? The toys bombed so bad WalMart refused to stock anymore TMNT toys for the 07 CG movie at first.
They always pull this shit. Overstock on the first wave, never swap them out when they don't sell, blame the toy company, then not order any more and let the line die. Just ask Transformers and its Core Class.
>>
>>11744315
>Ha, you clearly haven't read up on WalMart. Remember TMNT Fast Forward? The toys bombed so bad WalMart refused to stock anymore TMNT toys for the 07 CG movie at first.
Wait really? I never knew about that. Damn thats fucking scummy. And im not saying walmart shouldnt be blamed too, fuck walmart. But playmates absolutely should be more proactive in pushing these figures more instead of making them the toy equivalent of vaporware. I have a theory that they make these prototypes to generate hype and they never even intended to make half these figures they showed off in the first place anyways, and blaming it on vendors is just the fall guy for playmates toys to be cheap faggots so they can keep on pushing more crappy turtle variants which saves them a few nickels in tooling costs. But yeah, fuck playmates toys but fuck wal-mart too.
>>
>>
>>11744320
Oh i totally agree with that too. For years i wanted playmates toys to make an online store similar to mattel creations or hasbro pulse but for TMNT figures and their other licenses. Lel too late for that now i suppose.
>>
>>
File: IMG_0136.jpg (74.1 KB)
74.1 KB JPG
Also since we are on this topic does anyone have any other proof backing up this rumor i saw online? I really wouldnt be surprised if playmates did lose the license because they kept bitching about other companies like super7 and neca making turtle toys so much so that paramount had enough of their shit and pulled the plug.
>>
>>11744323
Seriously? Fuck walmart. That store fucking sucks. The wagies there are almost always lazy shits who will never get anything out of the back when you ask for it. And i heard the upper management is also fucking awful too. Like purposefully preventing toys not getting made for retarded reasons as it "hurr isnt match muh price model" they can go fuck themselves with a rusty rake.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11744330
And knowing the Ellisons, they'll run it into the ground by forcing everyone away or trying to keep it only to Mattel. And now with oil prices going up, shipping costs going up, toy prices will go up and up and up, and TMNT will be dead.
>>
>>
>>11744325
Dude, go check the back might work for produce but the inventory system Walmart uses is incorrect most of the time. You can't expect a guy stocking shelves to share the same interest in toys that you do.
But yeah, the people at Walmart are lazy and they refuse to go find your toy out of pure spite.or it could be that they have no idea what you are even asking for and are just doing their jobs.
>>
>>11744509
I'm sure it's a chicken and egg thing
bad treatment from management means the employees have literally no reason to be helpful beyond altruism, and after the 9th or 10th time some fat woman screams at you and you realize you can't do ANYTHING because you need this fucking 7.50 an hour job, your altruism runs out.
but then the employees being worthless makes the managers treat them worse, and realize they have nothing to gain from having good workers since the store keeps working regardless.

A forever license could be possible. They had a lot of input in the brand back in the 80's. When they got involved the comic wasn't printed regularly and there was only a few issues. In that context TMNT was more of a rough idea than the brand it is today. April O'Neil for example was two different characters that Playmates rolled into one from the second issue of the comic. In that issue, April is a lab technician for Baxter Stockman, and there's a second female character that issue who's a reporter. They also made Stockman white, because they wanted to change him into a character like Doc Brown from Back to the Future. He was then combined with a fly character who was designed for the toy line. Eastman and Laird signed off on these changes, and Playmates became like defacto co-creators and producing the '87 cartoon tie-in. They were also inventing loads of new characters with Mirage Studio.
>>
>>11744560
yeah it's actually fascinating how much of that early shit was playmates, and also how much WAS eastman and laird, and also other Mirage artists. they're like "goofy saturday morning shit for kids, that sells toys? Uhhhh okay, here." like they didn't fucking flinch, they just did it, and it was glorious.

I like it a lot! But beware, they didn't do the obvious smart thing and drill a hole in the calves for the wire to simply poke into, so said wire.. is glued on, and will break as you bend the knees
just get out your pin vise and drill small holes into the calves, and it will work like it should have in the first place.
>>11744629
I wish he was wrong, but yeah it also does have very loose hips. or rather, not the hip sockets (well they weren't exactly TIGHT), but the inner pelvic piece, which for whatever reason is VERY loosely secured inside the body, to make for a kinda waist rotation that.. should not exist on a turtle or turtlebot. Yet the turtles all have it.
Just pour some polyurethane up there, it'll be .. fine.

as you can see, that one has already broken, but there's a perfect little raised disc in that spot, where a hole should go. so you can just drill it yourself real easy. all action figure collectors should have a pin vise.

>>
>>11744691
it is weird to me that they weren't able to see these issues coming, but they used to be a really small company, so eh. I forgive the first 3-4 waves. it's the later ones where I start to wonder what the ass happened. Still, I bought em, I like em, I just got em on discount.

I knew that joke would be too subtle for people to get
see I was playing the dummy, pretending I think Anon is referring to Harlon Ellison, the guy who wrote "I Have No Mouth and Must Scream."
In reality he's talking about someone I don't know or care about, or think anyone here should be discussing, so I'm subtly mocking the subject and derailing what promises to be a dull conversation.
>>
>>11747302
NTA, but I got it. I was going to make a joke reply to you about City on the Edge of Forever, but I couldn't get it to work so I left it. Your post did make me check to see if Harlan was related to the other Ellisons, and thankfully he isn't.

If discussing TMNT comics is off topic, then seething about the CEO of Paramount is even more off topic. Take it to /tv/ or /biz/ or most likely /pol/ since that is probably the real reason you are seething about it.
>>
>>11747522
It's not off topic, Ellison is the cause of the license consolidation and price increases. Seethe more, it's going to get talked about. And if you defend them fucking it all up? You're part of the problem.
>>
>>11747422
>>11747463
You waste your time caring about problems before they happen. Nobody can do anything about anything, so wait until it happens and then care (tempered with the knowledge that all information you're receiving has been filtered more than a GI's letter home).

>Nobody can do anything about anything
If he actually cared, he totally could do something, but he'd rather cry on the internet and lash out at strangers that have nothing to do with the TMNT license.

The human figures are kinda just okay, I think it’s mostly the smaller size, they dont feel solid like the mutants. The only figure I was actually disappointed with though was Leatherhead because he has hard plastic accessories glued onto his pants where every other figure has soft plastic/removable ones. He’s not awful or anything but his hip articulation is extremely limited as a result, unless you don’t mind breaking them off.

>it's Ellison's fault NECA screw early adopters and rely on getting their customers to constantly double dip on figures they've already bought by including extra parts in reissues
Except shit like this was being done by NECA long before that scumbag was CEO. Stop blaming your boogeyman for NECA's scummy business practices.
Frazetta Girls recently reissued a couple of figures with new extra accessories, but also said they plan on releasing an accessory pack so early adopters don't need to buy the figures a second time.
NECA would never do that because they are greedy just like Ellison.
I hope he jacks up the license by 10,000% just for you. Greedy scumbags getting fucked over by an even greedier scumbag worked out well for Playmates, and NECA deserves the same.
>>
>>11751081
Oh cool man, so you just embarrassed yourself by shitting your pants with a bunch of stupidity you decided to post.
This has nothing to do with greed and everything to do with you being a know nothing bitch.
>>
>>
>>
>>11751096
>what might be limited time thanks to your shitty voting habits
I didn't vote that way, but holy shit, NECA losing TMNT might be the only good thing that comes out of this term. They say every cloud has a silver lining, and tariffs on toys and $5 a gallon for gas might end up being totally worth it if NECA lose the TMNT license. They might lose enough Paramount and Warner licenses that there is no reason to keep the doors open and Weinshanker pulls the plug on the whole company.
That would be the best possible outcome.
>>
>>11751132
Oh so you're just a retarded troll, good to know, since absolutely everything you said is total bullshit. You just like being a bitch. They aren't going anywhere, but the TMNT market is good as dead without them, and even worse off because of your favorite cheeto.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11751873
We don't know what's going on with the license and who is keeping it, who isn't, or what it means overall. Sadly we just have to wait and see. Some places may pull out just to save themselves the trouble later.
>>
>>11751873
Word on the street is that Joytoy's license expired and they didn't renew. No idea if they opted not to renew, or if it's because the alleged 2000% licensing fee increase fucked them.
>>11752033
>doesn't necessarily mean they won't put a few more figures out though
In a Q&A they had on their official Discord late last year, they said they had nothing in the pipeline after the Turtle Van under the current licensing agreement. If the rumour that they didn't renew is true, then that's it.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11752146
That's true, and I thought that when those two were revealed a couple of months ago, but I figure they were scheduled to be released just before the van. Since the van and both figures got released in the last couple of weeks, and the van is still getting released in batches until orders are filled, technically they didn't come out after the van, so I guess they haven't lied?
>>
Joytoy made a van? lemme see. They're 1/18th scale, so their van has a chance to be pretty bi-
nope, it looks like a hatchback. Then again, the joytoy turtles are meant to be taller than most iterations, right? They're proportioned like it.
>>
>>
>>11752437
yeah, I never minded it in the original TMNT. Those guys are PARTICULARLY short, possibly the shortest tmnt outside of the (very loose) sub-canon of the toys (where at least one of them is listed as sub 5 feet despite all the figures being the same height (and Baxter is like three foot something, kinda like in the cartoon)). Granted, that was ostensibly a news van, but the toy version definitely skewed more 'microbus' right down to the windows, so I was okay with it. How often do allies need to join them in their van? that's THEIR van, for bros only. Sometimes April, sometimes Dad but he's Japanese so he keeps trying to drive on the left.
it's funny how the super7 van added curves that make it even MORE like the microbus, but to me, kinda ruin the look. I can't tolerate those kinda silly guns unless the front is nice and square. That rounded look would fit the toon-style cannons fine.

So lets talk about TMTN remastered line. First they released Turtles with ugly bumpy skin and wrong heads and Leo and Don. Then they teased Shredder, Rocksteady and some Last Ronin-ish Raph variant. Finally they released Shredder and Splinter but only in 6 pack with fixed Turtles and also Splinter is randomly more toon than vintage toy. And now it's all over because they're losing the licence.

and he probably couldn't afford / have room for the newer neca, super7, etc stuff.

Is it worth getting the Deluxe version for an extra $28?

the dragon slayer is nice
i'm surprised the scarf isn't cloth/wired for such an articulated and premium figure

I'm leaning towards yes. If you can afford a $100+ Turtle, I wouldn't cheap out in the home stretch unless I hated everything that came with the deluxe.

The pauldron is still included with the basic version.

ohhh okay.. that's an interesting grappling hook design
I dunno these seem ridiculous to me but I can see why people would like them. if I think of them as more like, Thundercats OCs..

each is its own flavor of shit.
Next Mutation was like when you have to clean up runny dogshit and you're surprised it has barely any odor, and you realize it's because it all outgassed right away before you got there
Rise is like when you didn't chew properly and/or you ate a lot of indigestible stuff, so you shit out a bunch of shreds of pepper skins and corn and whatnot.. it's kind of cool in its own way, inasmuch as it's more visually interesting than a random log, and at least nothing was harmed in the process.
Mutant Mayhem is like, a mixture of when you've taken antibiotics and your shit comes out as like, furry foam for weeks, and like green baby shit where maybe the lactase has reached its limit.

"Orko."
"Oh, hi Adam. Sorry my magic trapped us in this universe. Burp! I'd thought I'd try their food. It's called pizza."
"You're going to get a stomachache."

Yeah, I don't think these were ever shown at Toyfair. It's reasonable to wonder if we will get a couple of more surprises. It all depends on if they finished the tooling. I'd say there is a slim chance for him.

They could rerelease the non acne scarred versions from the multipack individually. Never underestimate a company's willingness to milk a mold. See >>11750574

i've had a hell of a time finding body bucks in the super7/neca movie scales, yet 1/6 remains pretty easy.. I wonder.. how easy would it be to try to make a custom super7 Chrome Dome, and just say he's huge like the cartoon version?

then again, his bio card says he's "600 programmed pounds"
even if he's hyper space age lightweight materials, I can't imagine him being over like 8 feet.
but then again the bio cards also gave Baxter his cartoon size of 3 feet, so all bets are kinda off.

facts hurt. They hurt less if you accept them ahead of time
I'm not saying you stop fighting, i'm saying stop fighting each tiny little battle and taking tiny nibbles of grief, when there's a huge banquet to ruin. Have some perspective. There's not ten thousand things going wrong, there's one single one.
