Haven't seen anyone talking about these, but I got Jazwares Aang in today. Honestly I'm pretty impressed, especially for the £20 I paid for him. Decently poseable, 6 pairs of hands to use (fists, open hands and grabbing hands), an alt head, the soft goods are pretty decent and removable by design, and the only QC issues I've got are some very slight paint chipping on the bending arrows and the waist balljoint tends to pop apart (easily fixed though).
Honestly the "worst" thing I can say is he's Book 3 Aang and I have more memories of Book 1 and 2, so I am hoping for the Gaang to get figures based on their earlier appearances. Need to rewatch the show though, I have it on DVD now and I have very fond memories watching it with my sister.
Anyone else in on this line?

Always felt that avatar was not toyetic enough, every toyline has ended up rotting away on the aisles. Also western companies just cannot nail the fake-anime faces, just look at that thing.
I would like an asian company to take the license tho. Figma could probably make figures that at least look like the show. Blokees would also be a good option

Because they're garbage. It's ok that you enjoy them, but just know that its because you have below zero expectations. The sculpting on these isn't good, the face prints look like a cheap knock off, the cloth outfits look like a middle schooler's first time sewing something and the scale they made these in clashes with other toy lines. The collectors rejected them and they aren't selling to normies at retail either.
Zuko has been on clearance for $12 at Target and on amazon for a while now and still doesn't sell out.

I've been keeping an eye on the line, but the head sculpts are really killing them. Interestingly, this is shaping up to potentially be the most complete Avatar line with the Azula and Suki reveals at toyfair. Azula's had toys before but Suki's never had anything but a POP afaik. Still, I'm kind of okay with just having my Avatar Gallery statues really. Too bad DST went under before they released Sokka.

I'm honestly excited for these ones in particular. Compared to previous companies, they seem to be getting a better groove of the style, choice of accessories and the kinds of expressions the characters would have in the show.

Those two look better than Aang and Zuko do but Im not sure the line will be around by the time those are ready to be out. All stores are full of Zukos that aren't selling and there's still Katara, Toph and Sokka to get though before those two.

Jazwares has a Toph coming out soon it seems since she's already packaged. Other than that there's the DST, 5" McFarlane, and BST AXN figure. The BST's the best articulation-wise by a mile, though she's expensive now and that line was riddled with QC issues.

Why is the first wave just aang and zuko? No one just wants variants of them, fuck that shit. Gimme the waifus already jazwares, specifically a ty lee figure based on the ember island episode!

Wow even Toph looks better than Aang and Zuko. Why do the first two figs looks the worst? Also why are they releasing them one at a time? My target has had two racks full of only Zuko for a while now. No Aang at all. Isn't is better to ship a variety at the same time?

To me this looks less like fake anime and more like "what if we take the 1970's cheap cartoon style and give it a higher budget".

It's probably because retailers didn't want to risk taking anything Avatar with Paramount not supporting their own franchise. No new content for the 20th anniversary, the movie went from theaters to streaming only on Paramount+, and we have zero news on Seven Havens. I'm sure Bryan and Mike are loving leaving their deal at Netflix for the bull they now put up with at Paramount.
Also, didn't Jazwares lose the Crunchryoll license to Jakks Pacific or something? Shows that nobody was buying their anime stuff, so probably a good sign Avatar's dead in the water also.

some ppl keep saying that because jakks pacific announce they have a similar line coming but I think we need to wait and see. Maybe they are both making figures. Some other companies have done that like with mcfarlane toys lines and bandai lines at the same time.

The comics have their moments. They feel like they could be expanded and turned into episodes for a sequel series if the creators wanted. They did piss me off recently though by having Iroh apologize to June the bounty hunter for this scene as if he borderline raped her. Basically ruined the entire story trying to "fix" a 20 year old scene because apparently this was a big deal for a vocal 1% of fans.

/co/ poster here, ive never read the comics but ive been hearing for years that theyve been notoriously bad even beyond the june and iroh scene. Everything from mai breaking up with zuko to that forklift gag makes the entire thing feel so half assessed.

people who came /toys or even came to 4chinz for /co and/or are comic book readers, aren't monolithic
I've seen some of these cartoons, never read any of the comics (little interest), saw the old movie, and have little interest in more.
I can appreciate well made toys and Jazzwares does make some neat, good stuff. I've actually never seen these other than on the shelf so no idea, but there's no point in arguing about how bad comic books are or using your /co background as some sort of authority, on the fucking toy board.
most toy collectors give two fucks about comics or canon appearance, etc.

No one cares about the avatar comics or books, ATLA will be the legacy series. Pizza is still seen as italian even inAmerican. Especially since theres many variations of American pizza that stray from the origin.

Honestly, I didn't even remember the forklift thing until you mentioned it and I've read every comic, so I don't think it's really enough to effect the stories like the Iroh and June thing where they REALLY went out of their way to make it weird. They even made sure to give him an age appropriate girlfriend he mentions with like a single line. But, yeah, the overall ideas for the stories are usually pretty good imo but the execution can be hit or miss and don't feel like they have enough time to breathe.

What a weirdly defensive reply to three people talking about comics that never suggested or did any of this.

Pizza is a type of food. Anime literally just means "cartoon made in Japan".
It isn't a genre or anything and pretending that any cartoon more serious than Spongebob is anime is sort of insulting to creators outside of Japan and makes the word kind of meaningless.
