OP image is wrong, the devastated wojak should be in the middle by the time its revealed the tahu is nothing but a fake cosplayer, pic related should be at the reveal at the handkerchief bandage wrapping at the back of the head

Pic related is another good wojak for an alternate attempt for the meme the OP image was trying to attempt. The middle image doesnt convey the amount of disappointment, disgust, and abject rage that was had when it was found out the tahu lego was nothing but a shitty imposter and was just a normal schlub instead of a real bionicle character like it should've been.

Wrong, it still wouldve been a slap in the face to still have it be a cosplayer even without the headband bit in the back. They should've made it the real tahu and had the minifig head print look like the unmasked bionicle faces instead. I think its absolutely fucking stupid and unnecessarily cruel to make it a cosplayer as just a "fuck you" to fans because lego hates bionicle and has a weird autistic fixation on retarded costume shit
>>
>>
>>11751064
It would have been better and more acceptable. Obviously the brain stock and Mata face print would have been better, but they purposefully made this not actually Tahu. The canister also would have made no sense if they did. Who knows, maybe if they ever do a 'real' Tahu it'll have proper prints (without their shitty excuse of "we didn't know how, so we didn't do anything") and a proper head and weapon, but this is it for now. The mask could have been a whoooooole lot shittier, so I'll at least be happy that that, the most iconic part of Tahu, was done right.

The police man from series 18 that represented the first lego minifig lego set came with a tiny version of his own lego set too. It doesnt have to make sense, its a lego toy. It shouldve been the real tahu, end of story. Fuck lego

I don't think it's that deep though. And Bionicle fanatics should really move on already, it was great back in the day but it's over. The sheer obsession some of you have with that dead franchise is insane, there's plenty of things I loved as a kid that are no more, but I still have the old toys and good memories and I'm fine with it. Not everything needs to come back.
>>
>>11751071
I won't argue with "should've", especially considering we're getting the 'real' Lloyd, though he's not called that, but the fact of the matter is we're not. When we first heard the names I was being optimistic and thinking we'd still get the proper face print. There was that one Takanuva cosplayer who made the head, didn't just wear an Avohkii, so that's what I was hoping they'd take inspiration from, thereby this could be either a very well done cosplay or straight up Tahu.
I guess Bionicle has been a series in the world of Lego for a while, with games and what not, so I guess a cosplayer of that is what this one is based off of. If we ever get proper System Bionicle sets and they look like this, then that'd be a problem. As is, expecting anything differently was probably just optimistic.

Leakers did the gimmick again, mixing a few real leaks with fake ones like they did in other years. They do not want to tell us which leaks are real, so it is up to you to guess which of the LEGO leaks are legit. Personally, I hope the Dune, Avatar, and Zelda leaks are true. You?
>>

>I don't think it's that deep though.
I think it is, lego has demonstrated time and time again they HATE bionicle and this is no exception

Then why do boomers and gen-x get their 80s shit franchises constantly revived ad nauseam while companies unfairly ignore 2000s era properties and never give my generation their own nostalgia market. I fucking hate it.

Because most of these things made way more of a cultural impact than Bionicle. You may think Bionicle was extremely huge back in the day but it really wasn't. Yes, it lasted several years and had toys, books and some games and movies, but compared to things like Star Wars, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Masters of the Universe, GIJoe or 90s franchises like Pokémon or even YuGiOh it was fairly small on the whole zeitgeist.

I don't understand why Halo would be real. I realize mega gave up on it so there is a gap in the market, but that's because Halo is a dead IP. I know the niche exists in the third party market but I have serious doubts about it being a profitable venture. I say this as someone who would enjoy a bunch of lego halo playsets releasing.
>>
>>11751100
A Halo remake of the first game is coming this fall and is set to reboot the series to a new generation after Infinite failed. Also, if we do get sets they will be most likely 18+ sets like Zelda. Mattel Brick Shop is rumoured to release a set this fall but this doesn't stop Lego from releasing sets in 2027 if they made a deal, like it happened with Pokemon.

I realize microsoft is still trying the bare minimum with the franchise, but Halo fan to Halo fan? The series is dead, and has been for a long time. "Halo Studios" is a facade.
>>
>>11751100
You have to remember, sometimes purely keeping an IP away from other companies is more worthwhile then actually having it. Unless the IP is a major dud in terms of playset potential, like Avatar was because "no war imagery except when we allow it", it's worth hoarding.

Whats up with LEGO Group obsession with Bionicle pandering?
They are putting Bionicle stuff everywhere. NO other theme gets so much astrosurfing among other themes.
>>
>>
>>11751124
Because the current designers are fans of it who grew up with it. Since a full blown revival will probably remain unlikely, this is their way of getting some Bionicle nods out there. And it's getting the most exactly because of the impact Bionicle had. Look at any post about CMF29, Tahu is by far the one taking the most attention out of the set. Even those who don't care about him are specifically highlighting him in their thumbnails too.

2026 for the 25th seems like it would have made the most sense, but who knows.
>>11751135
This does seem like the style Lego would currently go, with minifigure Toa, and Exo-Toa type mechs (but probably appropriately Toa colored) seems like the most logical way to handle modern Bionicle. Alternatively, the GWP is a pretty nice template but the size might limit potential builds for environments, enemies, etc. Buildable enemies and Rahi would make a lot of make.
The problem is that this is pretty close to current Ninjago already. Colored and elemental protagonists, mech-like builds for the characters, etc, which would probably make it feel pretty redundant.
Also the 6 Toa seems problematic for the sake of unique parts and cost of completing the team, so maybe the core team would have to be smaller, with a rotating cast of allies here and there.

Fans are the reason G2 failed (obviously not just the fans who didn't support because it wasn't exactly G1. Story was shit and shallow, no media support except 30s shorts, certainly didn't help). If Bionicle was ever to come back, those fans can't be counted on to carry the Theme.

Bringing back Bionicle as a sort of exo force type theme with mechs for toa minifigures fighting big rahi monsters is genius. Lego needs a new theme that's more budget friendly, something like they had for Mixels. I think if they make it budget friendly it can be a hit with kids, a bionicle revival needs to get the new generation.

Also nothing felt offensive. Maybe the great beings were Maori and just named their creations that way. Doesn't seem any different from say Pacific Rim using Jaeger for the mech heroes and Kaiju for the monster villains. But maybe some specific words used were special?

>Assume you're reallly religious. How would you feel if someone marketed a line of toys to children but called them demons?
Nta but anyone who gets angry at that is a stupid fundie retard. Like the same bible thumper types who would get mad at spawn toys in the 1990s. Its just as fucking stupid when those islanders were complaining about bionicle as when the holy rollers here were screeching over darth maul action figures.
>>
>>
>>11751150
Shit story and next to zero marketing. Never saw them at Walmart or Target and Toys R Us was on the decline by 2015. And it didn't help a lot of the late Millennials/ early Gen Z that grew up with G1 were no longer getting Lego sets as gifts, they had to enter the workforce to buy the reboot of their nostalgia thing and the job market for highschoolers in 2015 was pretty fucking bad.

>>11751221
Why? Should I not be allowed to think something is trivializing or commercializing my culture? I mean, I'm kinda being Devil's advocate here, I don't really care either way, but what gives you the right to say other people aren't allowed to think like that?

>>11751149
>Lego paid for the ad
I see they're pulling the WotC move and blowing money on IPs to attract new customers instead of appealing to enfranchised customers that would be willing to spend even more. Brilliant.
>>
>>11751225
It was 5 years too early for fans to be in a good position to buy them, but 5 years too late for there to be a worthwhile story. Maybe nowadays they'd be able to find a balance, but they have to know how and why shit like "Protector of Fire" isn't as cool as something like "Vakama, Turaga of Ta-Koro". Even just giving them a name would have gone a long way to make them into real characters. With how sets are named nowadays, as generic as possible, it probably wouldn't stick.

It's weird how much of these are nostalgia for the 80s but Lego will literally never make a set that has the aesthetic of the 80s anymore. To be fair that wasn't because anyone complained, they just had a company rule against real life religious symbols in games. Which was why they removed the cross from the shield from the original game.

Because they literally can't. Literaly so many colors and molds simply aren't made anymore. Old Castle? Bluish grays now, wall panals aren't used anymore. Old Space? Enjoy not having any of the trans neon colors or specialized elements used for ships and speeders. In the early 2000s they rereleased a number of old sets, I think they wished they could do this but with the shift from 04 so much was lost that just isn't possible now.

>>
>>11751343
I don't speak for them, I think it's fun. They probably wouldn't be happy unless Lego just recreated the old molds.
>>11751355
When DB asked the designers about why there was no side of arm or leg printing, this thought process almost seemed like what they may have been thinking, that it needed to be overly detailed like that. I think any Bionicle fan that likes the idea of Bionicle minifigures is fully aware that the level of detail won't compare with the old sets, and would be happy with more simplified details due to the nature of the item. But, instead of more simplified details, they opted for no details, which is just... odd, especially when their reason is that they couldn't figure out how to make it look when that's literally their jobs.
I don't think anything we get that's made with care (like the mask and canister print) should be felt as insulting. It'd be like getting mad at the GWP, or the various easter egg details in various sets (which some were, of course), but that's the nature of all fandoms that don't get exactly what they want. It isn't like we got "Bionicle cosplayer" and the mask is part of the face print, or something like that, which would have been insulting.

Funniest thing is, I'm pretty sure the "offensive" part of the movie was the dinner scene, where it shows the monkey-brain eating scene that is played for a laugh at a "weird, foreign culture."
Best thing is, showing Indians sitting at a table and digging into and eating the brains of a monkey is orders of magnitude more civilized than what Indians actually eat considering all of the videos showing Indian food stalls where they are scraping what looks like literal shit into bowls while they drip sweat into all the food, scrape dropped shit up off the floor, scratch their bare foot or armpit and then pick up food and plate it all with their hands, all while bugs and/or rats crawl across it all.

Trans pink heads aren't particularly accessible. It seems to be the case that the only one available is a printed one, though the ones from bricklink don't have the print for some reason. Why are people so sensitive to getting shit from their childhood criticized? I watched and loved the Indiana Jones movies as a kid and stil watch and love them, I don't think saying actors doing brown face or yellow face is outdated is that weird of a take. These movies aren't going anywhere, it's a profitible IP and Disney isn't suddenly going to stop milking it because of this shit. They couldn't even film Temple of Doom on location because the Indian government thought the script was racist so it was moved to Sri Lanka resulting in some silly moments. Stop thinking every argument is black and white, no one is calling for the films to be deleted so you don't need to deem every element of it is fine actually to justify its existence.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of people who are financially illiterate or take out loans without understanding the terms, the interest, etc. But there are plenty of times, (mostly in housing) where people can afford their mortgage one day, and then due to unforeseen price increases in property tax, insurance, escrow, etc. a person can afford their house one day, and then be priced out of it by thousands of dollars a week later due to means beyond their control.

it's insane to think about the deletion of work of this magnitude. so much work to make those films. and they just press a button. buh-bye! there can be no better advertisement for "physical media" I hope you gotz the blu-ray it's the only way those things can be safe guarded.
did anybody else catch the new Willow series they made? it was super-woke in all the maximum ways, but still, I thought it was alright. Disney yoinked it off D+ for a tax write-off or something, and it's just gone. a whole show, gone forever. (I didn't research if it got a physical release, it wasn't that good)
also, the first Willow movie should have been good enough to have gotten a Lego set by now, you think?

Well, I got some stuff today. Finally bought something for the first time ever from a Bricks and Minifigures store. Got all these for $30. Celestial Sled is missing the antenna, and the minifigure's visor is cracked a little. The ice planet CMF didn't come with the hair piece, and I replaced the trans orange chainsaw with a trans neon orange one. I had been wanting to get some Roboforce minifigures, so I got the only one they had there, but I should have looked him over because both of his arms were cracked, and he doesn't have the right backpack (its the darker gunmetal grey instead of black.) But it is at least the printed legs version, and those are a bit rarer than the plain black legs version. I'll just get new arms or another torso.
>>

Mine always charges insane prices for anything made before the 2010s, I remember they had the Blacktron I racecar from the original wave for like $600. Not new in box or even complete. Just the fucking set itself.
>>
>>11751544
Yeah, most of the stuff is usually pretty overpriced. I think the sled was like $12 and CMF was $7? Actually, I think it was a bit more than $30, because I think the Roboforce guy was $14 or $15, but I thought eh fuck it.

I haven't bought cmfs in several years, how is the paint quality on them? Some of my older ones with more complicated prints, like the pajamas boy with all tbe stripes, have worn off heavily over the years even just sitting untouched. These new ones seems more elaborate then ever but I question how long prints this detailed can last with this line.

Depends on what you want. The soon to be retired X Mansion set has a huge number of X-Men figures, there is a movie set of FF figures, a bunch of MCU Avengers team sets, and a Batmobile set with TDK Batman, Joker, and Two Face. There are also Animal Crossing and Live Action One Piece sets, a bunch of new Harry Potter sets, and a couple of Blind bag Spider verse and D&D figures. And there is also a super expensive STTNG set with the entire bridge crew.
The regular blind bag stuff however have de evolved into furry crap and and most of the police stuff is mid.
Assuming you customize, id look for bricklink to find parts and just build junk that way

I don't know how trustworthy people in Serbia are with sending parcels but if you don't trust them just pay a bit extra shipping to order from a more trustworthy European country (Germany is usually the best and has the lowest prices and most parts), If you still don't want to deal with it you can just buy the knuckles mech set she is from it's still for sale in a few places like amazon even if it's retired on Lego's site.
This Rouge figure kind of sucks but you are right they might not make another or the next one might be even worse. I have it in real life and it has such low detail which clashes really badly with the super detailed head mould. Lego won't do that single line of cleavage to characters that need it like Rouge or slave leia and it looks really weird like they got their breasts removed or flattened as part of some horrific surgery. And people get mad if you rightfully complain about it for some reason and accuse you of wanting to fuck lego minifigures which is just insane

I'm not that super-fan who would know, but were there any connections (heh) at all between Bionicle and like, regular Lego?
if the concept was that a minifig character went to an island and found a Bionicle mask, and put it on... and his teenagers-with-attitude friend group got the other color masks? would that make sense?

>competing brick manufacturers are out doing them on price.
I thought Lego was positioning themselves as extra-expensive, and that's the only reason you'd want to buy those sets, as a status affirmation. you know you're upper-class if you can afford the LEGO sets!
the same reason people buy Mercedes instead of lower-cost cars (real ones, not Lego. it's funny that all the Lego sports cars are similarly-priced hehe)
that's why there are almost NO "small" sets for Money Kid. they don't need those few pity sets to get the poor kids interested.

>You've also got to keep in mind that China largely doesn't give a shit about IP trademark theft, meaning the Chinese will just buy the knockoff Lego minifigures.
That's mostly why they've marketed heavily inspired full Chinese themes, like festivals, Chinese New year's sets and celebrations, Monkey Kid, etc.
They're not even really promoted and barely even sold in the West, but just go to like Amazon and type in "Lego Chinese sets" Or "Lego Chinese New Year" and there are dozens of official sets aimed pretty much only at China.

why did lego do so many buildable-with-clips minifig-scale characters in the mid 00s, and why did they stop?
>>
>>11752424
I never necessarily said they were successful at it, but it is a pretty large market to attempt to tap into. Someone else brought up Hollywood's attempt to pander to China in big movies, and in spite of everything, they did make lots of money from the Chinese market. Its why tons of movies, particularly in the 2000s and 2010s always had some big Chinese star in it, or some section of the movie take place in Hong Kong or Beijing or something in an attempt to cater to that market.
But western markets try to have their cake and eat it too, since they also try to crowbar in woke or DEI pandering too, but usually in sections that are easy to remove from the movie so the Chinese can remove them for their showings. Its why even Chinese versions of movie posters generally remove black people or other minorities, or relegate them to a tiny corner or background of the poster.
These companies try to make a fucktillion dollars by stretching themselves to every market possible, even when that comes at the cost of the product itself. So yeah, making a bunch of festival lanterns, or Chinese parade dragons, or sets based off of Journey West is their attempt to enter the Chinese market, but whether or not it is working is another thing. And keep in mind, they've really only been trying this recently. They were scarcely even trying to sell official Lego sets there, if at all.

>and why did they stop?
Probably because what colors you can use for them is pretty limiting. I can't find it online but there are early pics of Mars Mission aliens showing them with articulated arms and legs, unfortunately late into production they realized that the trans green plastic was too brittle to allow this and had to make the shitty mold we ended up getting last minute. I feel like with exoforce the did them with reuse in mind, the arms and hand clips are used to this day. I found out awhile back that when Lego released the big bad guy mech for exoforce a lot of people were pissed because it included the gold leader robot in your pic as the pilot BUT didn't include the gold legs and just made you clip him into the cockpit so several people asked to be mailed the legs until later versions added them into the set.

Yep. Got a pretty good deal on it imo. Paid $800 from a local guy on marketplace. I was ready to pay $1000 but talked him down in person. A local LEGO resell shop offered him $400 for it. He didn’t want to deal with listing/shipping using eBay even though he knew he could prob get more for it. Still the most I ever spent on a LEGO set but it was always my dream set so I splurged
>>
>>
>>
>>11752455
Nice find, makes me feel less bad about thinking $200 for a set with the original box was absurd. I feel like my autism would make me want the original 96 box though, the Legends line boxes aren't quite as neat but finding a set like that boxed at all is brutal in general.

I recently got both of my Meca One figs out from storage
all 4 of the gold arms had fractured at the clip
The silver and bronze robots don't have this problem
According to bricklink there is a "thick support" version of the arms, I guess this was a known problem which they later mitigated
Is the pearl gold of the thick support part a color match for the pearl gold used in the exo-force days?

MyBrickOpinions made a new video in which he shows us brand new concept art from the early days of Lego Chima. The original name was Animal Kingdom. He also said Chima was not cancelled because of low sales. Chima was selling very well in 2015, but because of Ninjago’s huge success, Lego did not want to split the Ninjago theme into two places and give budget to Chima when they could focus everything on Ninjago.
It is crazy that when they decided to keep going with Ninjago, the team split in two, because the entire Ninjago team had moved to Chima until then. Also, Chima only had one show writer.
Video:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=slDMXsAxe9c
There were plans for 2016 and beyond. 2016 would have introduced another evil Mount Cavora with vampires corrupting animals. The 2015 Fire Wings wave would also have included Minotaurs.
Insane stuff. I do hope they bring Chima back someday.
>>
>>11752488
Yeah lol. I think something kind of similar happened with a Pirates of the Carribean set, box depicted chrome gold bars but the actual set used pearl gold and some people actually received them in chrome gold by complaining to Lego about it making them pricey now.

I don't know, the team had genuine passion for the theme and I can admire it but I just can't get into these new major story based themes. Maybe it's because I find them a bit gaudy looking but I also think these themes just don't work well when displayed with other themes, something about just having a yearly castle or space factions feels more universally appealing. I wouldn't bitch about it though if Lego at least had the decency to not continue castle/pirates/space through CMFs and triple digit price sets.

Weird that they never tried this again, these display based packs existed for like two or three years and then just vanished. I guess they were extremely rare or something because the minifigs exclusive to them like the RR chief or all the ninja packs go for a fuck ton now.

We've discussed these before, and we know why they stopped them: Being that they were just figures and no real "build" it bumped into legal issues because without a build they were considered stand-alone "action figures" and had to stop because toy makers like Hasbro were making Star Wars figures at the time. Yes, it is pretty stupid.
Years later (actually, only about 3-4 years ago) they did kinda, sorta do similar things with the 3-minifigures and a small build lite battle-packs (pic related), but they only lasted a couple years, and I don't think they made more than a handful of them.

it was just "Star Wars" from "Hasbro" that got an exclusive-figures deal. that doesn't apply to anything else.
it's incredibly un-clear if the contract was worded properly once Lucas sold SW to Disney. people acted like it was still a thing, but there's a chance it's just Hasbro being a bully.
some companies sneak around the rule. if you notice Star Wars Funko POP! Figures have spring necks, thus they are "bobble heads" and not "action figures" lol suck it, rules
it really is a shame, Lego could have been on Star Wars CMF series 15 by now, that would have been 180 more main character variant costumes and Gulp Shittos. the SW CMFs would have been their own thing along with the other series
Lego would make so much money on that, they should just do it and give Hasbro free money for breaking the rule or whatever

I think we need to take into account that the only chance for Bionicle to come back is in three forms. And none of them has Technic.
Option 1:
>Bionicle is brought back as a minifigure theme and this Tahu was just a taste of how they would look. It would have vehicles, creatures, monsters, and temples and stuff. Could be great.
Option 2:
>Bionicle is brought back as minifigures like Tahu in CMF 29, but as a part of Ninjago Dragons Rising, and maybe that leads to a spinoff.
Option 3:
>Brick built Bionicle figures like the GWP and other buildable figures LEGO makes out of bricks.
None would have Technic. Would you be ok with it? One problem LEGO has with bringing Bionicle back is because of the new mask molds and body molds.

at the very least, there might be a new hair piece, or accessory, or new animal piece, or torso/face print, or... something... that you think is worth having. there were a few Harry Potter sets and Marvel TV show sets, that had those things, even though you might not like HP or whatever
the worst one was the Spider-Mans with very specific prints and heads, almost all of it was useless. I think there was 1 new hair piece (2?) and 1 cowboy torso. where else can you use a cat with a spider mask print?

Why couldn't it be Technic? You can still make humanoid figures exclusively out of technic parts currently being produced with the only true Bionicle bits being masks and weapons. Compared to the system route you'll still need mask molds, but you wont need to worry about prints, and the vast majority of Bionicle fans would actually be interested in it

the fact that nothing has "leaked" moves the needle in the direction towards "Lego is 100% behind the leaks" rather than "genuinely-leaked because it's ridiculous to assume Lego blurs pics on purpose"
if there is to be a new original theme, Lego might be guarding the art/subjects from copy-cats, so somebody else can't beat 'em to the table. giving more power to the idea that if Lego WANTS to keep a secret, they sure can do it.
or they may be taking a break, was there a gap between thing? Chima? Ultra Agents? Vidiyo? I'm not going to do research, but maybe we should expect am break as they figure out something new

all that sounds very logical. especially considering Lego's reaction speed [awful] and muh-focus-groups-research [we tested kids, and they wanted...dreams! or whatever]
they also probably wanted to cringe and see if the Smart Bricks were going to be a hit, and maybe incorporate those into the NEW THEME or not. if they committed to Smart Brick tech, and it would have been DOA, they might have blown a good idea like they did with Vidiyo (gotta admit the characters were cool)

if you remove the character designs from the stories they were in, a lot of them are still amazing. Trinity Jedi?! Power Ranger Chrome Cyborg Biker Gang? Even Jack Black & Lizzo. countless others. just take the figures and make your own stories with 'em.

In some ways I can kind of understand it. There are always new people coming into Lego, so there are a handful of iconic ships they want to re-release every few years so there's always an X-Wing/Millennium Falcon/Star Destroyer/Tie Fighter/etc. on the shelves for those people, and every year they update their parts catalogue, so they may just refine the builds down more and more and streamline the aesthetic.
But yeah, there are plenty of ships they have only made once or twice (or possibly not at all) and really need updates. Like the Tie Bomber that came out a year or two ago, that's only the second time they've ever made it, and the last one came out 20 years prior.
But there is plenty of shit they just waste time, money, and resources on. Especially in the modern era where they're releasing new versions of shit that has less pieces, cut corners, and its downscaled and somehow costs even more money than previous versions. At that point, just don't fucking make it until you get shit sorted out.
>>

They're testing the limits of SWfags, and SWfags are really giving them no serious reason to see this business model as bad. I genuinely don't know what limit would even push IPfags to the breaking point, even cases like the $45 battle pack and recent turbo tank werw just a hiccup and not a final straw.
>>
>>11752997
I think some of the recent offerings from 2024/2025 caused a lot more people to kind of get more peeved. The Turbo Tank and MTT were not very well received, especially the Turbo Tank. I think a lot of people found those sets to be egregiously overpriced. You can even compare them to the AT-TE, which was a little overpriced, but a lot of people consider it to be either the best or one of the best versions of that vehicle. And while people have their grievances with modern clone minifigs, that one still came with a good amount of clones to fill the vehicle out--actually, the best assortment of clones an AT-TE ever came with.
You can see reviews everywhere that people bomb most of the SW sets that have come out the last 2-ish years. Even dear leader MandR bought literally hundreds of the 501st battle packs from 4-5 years ago, but only bought one of each of the modern battle packs because of how overpriced a $45 battle pack (or even the $25 or whatever they are now) is.

that's the awful part. I cannot stress how awful they are handling it. how many of Jabba's Palace, or the Cantina on Tatooine background guys got merch back in the 80's?
nearly every episode, in every thing, in every movie... has gazillions of Gulp Shittos
but Lego has to "he have to stop somewhere" and only give us 3 minifigs in a $300 set. dammit, it would be so much easier for Lego to be doing the background guys. they could SHAME Hasbro. embarrass them. they already have a C-3PO mold, just make a blue one for crying out loud! torso print (PRINT!) +some hairpiece = another background Gulp Shitto human-guy. it's insane they are so stingy.
you can kind of understand why Hasbro needs huge molds and complicated stuff to make big figures for someone who got 2 seconds of screen time, but LEGO could do it. easily. argh.

>but I'd never buy it
A lot of people don't, the walmart near me barely even stocks Technic. If I'm right, they only made made around 26 sets last year, which is lower than the amount that City and Ninjago produced, which wouldn't be a bad thing if the system it were built with was compatible with System Lego as a whole, but its not. I hate to say it, but after Lego permanently does away with all original IPs with the exception of Ninjago, it will probably liquidate Technic shortly afterward

there are stores with nothing but Warhammer figures to paint. I don't like building Gundam models, but there's lots of them. girls collect Barbie dolls. Lego has a Technic line.
it's perfectly fine for things to exist that you have no interest in. I have no idea who won the NASCAR thing or even what that thing is called. but there are fans that enjoy it a lot.
the cool difference is that Technic sets will actually be useful, on some level, with the Lego hobby I do enjoy, so.... that?
I realize the argument is that Lego could be using Technic resources to make more Castle sets or whatever. and I would prefer that, myself. but I understand that Lego Technic could have fans I know nothing about, too.

>>
>>11753042
I see a fair amount of Technic, but its the cars and jeeps and stuff.
>>11753044
I'm not saying it is bad that it exists just because I don't want it. I can see its purpose, I just don't personally have a place for it. I'm also not really thrilled with how many exposed pins and technic holes and stuff there tend to be on the finished product.
>>
>>11753061
>That's exactly what happened with the prequels but prequel tards are too stuck up to admit this.
I thought the main argument for the strength the prequels have (especially over the sequels) is all the different character and alien designs...I swear, character and vehicle designs are about the only things people defend with the prequels...
>>
>>11753063
There are tons of people that unironically defend the prequels in terms of story and execution. There are even people that will claim the prequels are better than the Original Trilogy. It is millennial and Zoomer nostalgia rose tinting to an extreme degree.

97 zoomer here, prequel trilogy has concepts that hold a lot of promise but even at their best their execution is pretty mediocre at best. I know a lot people would despide the idea but I genuinely think the prequel trilogy could be amazing if readptated by a competent writer with all of Lucas' most indulgent shit removed or heavily toned down. Sadly though Disney seems to refuse to consider hiring good writers or allow suits free creative control so that dream isn't possible.

since lego technic abandoned functional set, and spamming licensed car. There wasn’t any interesting set in the current LEGO Technic sets., so i look up alternative brands. but that was fucking mistake.
3 month ago i bought 4000+ piece crane from mould king with 185 USD. as i already mentioned several times, shit malfuntioned . even i assembled it correctly there's broken pieces too. so i trashed it after i bought 8455 back hoe loader
My point is. if you are going to buy 'fun technic set' do not even look for alternative brands. it's shit. just buy retired set even it's expensive. but it still sucks that lego killed technic theme

Chima was the strongest theme that could have been in parallel eith ninjago but lego canned it because they shared the same design team, chima was still selling very good. If lego were smart to make it a priority to have a theme selling as good as ninjago at the time or vloser chima would srill be going today.

Why do Bald Minifigures have a stud on their head but balding Minifigures don’t have studs on their heads?
It always annoyed me how completely bald Lego Minifigures have studs on their heads I mean the way I’ve always seen it Lego Minifigures without hair have studs on their heads but the balding hair has no stud on it. I know Minifigures with headpieces/hair aren’t supposed to have studs normally but bald Minifigures are supposed to have studs on their head.
The crazy scientist minifigure with the large head has a stud on top of his balding head? Why can’t they put a stud on top of Balding Minifigures?

G2 died because the entire world Bionicle had was gutted, Moccing is for fags too lazy to actually draw an OC and I am tired of not fucking saying it. too much time and energy is spent by the fanbase trying to make cringe MOC's and less time actually made actually drawing or preserving lore and story. PONY FAGS do this shit better then we do. ever wonder how a giant 10 year long franchise that fucking CARRIED one of the largest Toy companies on the planet is barely remembered? its because of fags like that, yeah MOC's may be what keeps the fandom on life support, but it could have actually been thriving with more then 2 fucking fan games and 2 relatively meh quality fan animation projects if people actually cared about BIONICLE and not just the constraction pieces they get from it.

despite being a 5-year-old game, last January Nintendo released a huge FREE update that added a new Hotel and LEGO furniture sets into the game.

yeah no shit fag, but just because something is sold as a toy does not mean I should value the plastic and an OC over the world and story, I dont see this shit with other toy series where the focus is more so plastic components then established characters, no Transformers, or fucking He-Man, or Gundams. just Bionicle, and predominantly because of MOC faggotry
>>
>>
>>11753299
No. And if you think about it they never did that. Even bigger themes that had no tv series or movies like exo force and knights kingdom, they still had some multimedia elements to it. I'd guess the fantasy era castle was their biggest one from 2000s.
I personally work on the rule of cool and those themes like exo force, castle fantasy era, atlantis and power miners looked cool, didn't care about the story.
>>
>>11753295
>>11753298
G2 did lack a story, definitely, it also lacked advertising as well. I just don't believe that turning Bionicle into a minifigure focused theme would be a good idea, after all you were encouraged to make custom Bionicle characters, be it Dark Hunters or just random matoran dudes, if you take that away and replace the system with something that most fans arent interested in for the sake of focusing in on the story, you might as well just continue Bionicle solely through books
>>
>>11753303
Bionicle didn't need to continue, it needed a proper end. and then a solidified Narrative done through preferably an animated Medium matching the tone of the books. its baffling that LEGO doesn't even make Bionicle merch on the side like shirts, they could still profit off nostalgia without having to make a single constraction set but would rather bury the whole IP for years, then handwash it with a half baked reboot.
>>
>>11753303
Bionicle G3 needs to attract a new generation of fans not the old ones. If Bionicle G3 is successful then Lego could give G1 fans a bone too in some adult collector sets. But the theme would need to be profitable. This year Ninjago Legacy display set and blacksmith sets sold like crazy and its because ninjago being a popular theme that we got those sets meant for older fans to begin with. Also making G3 system related has more moc potential than the old bionicle technic system ever had. That system was very limited thats why new lego ceos hated it.

are you genuinely this retarded? >>11753319
we exist, and I have stayed quiet up till this point because I just normally ignored it, but it is hard to ignore when you wanna indulge in some Nostalgia and the thing you get bombarded with is "GAIZ CHECK OUT MUH MOC" followed by XY and Z of "OMG WHEN ARE THEY GONNA BRING BACK BIONICLE, WHY WONT THEY BRING IT BACK". only thing more retarded and annoying then an MOC fag wondering why Bionicle died and isnt coming back is the Pokemon fan that still buys the Nintenslop and cards and wonders why Gayfreak shits out the bare minimum in effort.

Just do big barrels of parts and let people make stuff would likely be best, with small instructions on ideas like those huge brick bins but with a bunch of limbs, hands, everything, maybe a new mask or two but making thematic color packs would be nice, dark purple, magenta, and a lot of other missing stuff would be greatly appreciated, also more regular orange, anyways you made any mocs? Yeah, remember used to play with some odd parts at school when I was young that I didn’t have at home from the 70’s and 80’s, which only now I’ve been able to get access to again. Also those tub buckets of randomish bricks were great, too bad they are box shaped now though

Damn shame, maybe pirakas sold too well for them to give us spares, closest we got that year was that guy with the roller skates, also mindboggling how you see basically 0 technic OR bionicle fans bring up flex tubes, considering how they were really prevalant for a while until abruptly stopping around 2003 or so, guess they got got in the great mold genocide, though their prices also got spiked by that unfortunately for me
>>
Is it that hard to make Bionicle a Technic subtheme again? There is proof you can build cool action figures with all existing Technic pieces right now, only new molds required would be weapons and masks maybe hands too.
Also, is it just me or nowadays we don't have that many subthemes? We used to have more.
>>
>>11753361
There was going to be an attempted collab of doing a bunch of technic built animals on 8/10 or something a few years ago but nobody did it, one guy had some really nice ones with play functions but yeah currently everything’s in a slum, and there is an active subtheme genocide going on

So I’ve been thinking about how LEGO could actually reboot Bionicle without repeating G2’s mistakes, and honestly the answer seems pretty obvious now.
The big change is the build style. Drop pure constraction and go mostly System with some Technic. Basically a Technic skeleton with ball joints, then layered brick-built armor on top. Around 130–170 pieces per Toa. It keeps the posability but makes them feel like real LEGO sets again, and way more customizable.
Price-wise it has to stay accessible:
Toa in the $15–20 range
Small villains around $10–15
Mid-tier villains $25
Titan maxing out at $40
Wave 1 would just be the classic Toa Mata lineup:
Tahu with sword and shield, more bulky and aggressive
Gali with hooks/spears and smoother armor shaping
Lewa lighter, fast-looking, maybe small brick-built wings
Onua as the heavy tank with a hammer
Pohatu more compact and agile
Kopaka with spear and shield, cleaner icy design
Villains would be simple but effective:
A cheap beast enemy (Rax) for army building
Humanoid “corruptor” enemies with an infection gimmick
Warden Gravox as the main boxed villain
And a titan called The Kernel as the big bad
Play features stay straightforward:
Swappable masks with simple “power” identities
A core piece in each chest for collectibility
Toa can combine in pairs into larger builds
Summer wave would expand things instead of replacing them:
Upgraded versions of the same Toa with new armor and masks
Shift the setting into jungle and underwater environments
Introduce a Barraki-style creature villain
Add a bigger titan like the Shadow Colossus
Plus smaller creature sets and mask packs as cheap entry points
>>
>>11753378
Story would start simple and build over time:
The world is basically a giant biomechanical system being taken over by something called the Archive, a corrupted AI rewriting everything
The Toa are reactivated defenders tied to different regions
Masks are fragments of control over this system
Instead of dumping heavy lore immediately, just do short-form content online and slowly expand it.
Rough 3-year plan:
Year 1 establishes the core six and main conflict
Year 2 expands the world, adds combiners and maybe a simple game tie-in
Year 3 goes bigger with a show and larger display-style sets
Main goal is just to make Bionicle feel like LEGO again while keeping the identity that made it stand out in the first place.

Only now I realise this, dreamzzz is probably the first theme that used ai to design the sets. We all know lego has no shame in using ai. I think one problem dreamzzz has is the animal builds. Like chima made sense because of the lore but here they dont make sense and try to be cute. They really shouldnt have made dreamzzz unisex and focus on boys theme angle not both boys and girls.
Lego Elves wouldve been better as unisex and feature minifigs. Anyway I think we are close to our first original theme with fleshie minifigs...

Are we gonna get cheap Lord of the Rings sets next year with Hunt for Gollum movie? I'm torn on how Lego will handle Zelda and LotR sets in 2027 because both themes get big movies coming out. With Zelda I guess we should know if we get sets by september since the movie comes out in May 2027.
For LotR I will only own the Balrog booknook and Sauron helmet if they don't make cheaper sets.

My headcanon is that Lego trying to keep away from "war" relateg stuff is what limits technic a lot. It's mostly cars with occasional construction vehicle or some space stuff recently. But we could have tanks or other military vehicles. Where are all the aircrafts? Ships? Some mechas/robots? Plenty of these is often used in battles/conflicts so Lego wants to keep their hands clear. What about trains and trams then? Or some fun contraptions that aren't vehicles. There's so much cool stuff that you can find googling, but official sets have none of that.
