The big online pre-sale for NECA's con exclusives went up yesterday, still available for pre-order until...sell out? When the con happens? We'll see.

I mean, I picked up a few of the DC ones, since that's my really main franchise to collect, but they have stayed in their boxes and those boxes went into another box, where they got stuck in the closet.
I also bought them on sale, with gift cards, on trips to Target when absolutely nothing else was around that I wanted or needed to buy in person.
So it always surprises me when I go back to a Collector's Corner and some of these are what appears to be selling.
Who?
Why?
>>
>>11751916
What's the deal with the Child's Play license anyway? They couldn't keep calling the movie's Childs Play because one side owns that title, right?
And Neca didn't license that for the first Chucky figures. Now they have. We gonna see more out of that?

I got Bob Gray. I need to get a scale flask to go with him, but I do like the look of the head sock wig. Not the most accurate figure to the scene, given how early they were working on these it seems.

Halloween nostalgia hits hard. Those are typically the most fun times in a kid's life growing up. Plus they're fun, colorful little toys.
>>
>>11751992
>Plus they're fun, colorful little toys.
They are definitely colorful.
But I never see people actually pick one up, talk about them, or put them in their cart.
And I am sometimes by those collector's corner for a few minutes, when I am wondering around (and sometimes straightening out) the collector's corner section so I can take a damn photograph.
I do see people come by - to search for Blokees blind boxes or other blind boxes, to search for anime and manga SHF, Bandai, etc., and most especially to pick up Funko Pops.
Besides the TMNT collectors, I do often see people pick up things like the Beetlejuice, Wednesday, Coroline, etc., whether they buy or not, but no one ever has picked up a Ben Cooper - save once, a couple of girls picked up the joker, laughed over it, and literally hot potato-ed toss it into the plushie pile like it was going to infect them or bite them.
And walked away laughing more. I would have said they were drunk but they looked like all of 14 so possibly just buzzed or very high energy.

Personally, I just order them off the neca store and get them that way. They're getting better at it now, but series 2 was split up between Walmart and Target, and then Target only got smatterings of wave 3 (at first). So I just started doing the full waves off the store and just be happy when they show up at retail for others.

I see Father's with sons going through the die cast Hot Wheels and sometimes (less so) the Elite wrestlers and Star Wars (any why those get put in the same aisle is beyond me). For a while, I was hunting down a Cody Rhodes on clearance for a suited body and then another one for a pair of sunglasses, until I found both at Ross, but I would be in that aisle and say 30-60% people would have conversations.
Couples totally and definitely talk about Pops over at the collectors corner or over at the LEGO aisle. I had to stand at one once for about 10 minutes waiting for a clerk to bring me back something from the aisle and another time waiting on a clerk to be done in helping someone else to help me and you see that all the time, at least I do, so maybe it's a west coast thing and where ever you call home, it's not done.
I've definitely seen groups of guys (teenage to young adult) talk about Marvel Legends or TMNT figures amongst themselves, and when the Stranger Things display was around, argue about the demos.

The worst part is how all those faces are barely different. It should have included the grinning face from when she first meets the little goober that is included with her.

The fogure doesn't look like shit, don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
>>11752523
You do know these figures are made well before the movie is released right? They wouldn't have reference for that.
>>
>>11751954
They can’t make anything from the first movie. There are some loopholes with the accessories, but you’ll notice the original ULTIMATE Chucky did not feature a head with the red scab on it? That’s because the only movie he had it in was the first one.
Also, the original Cult Classics Chucky had to be labeled Child’s Play 3 even tho it was clearly based on the first movie.
>>
>>
>>11752681
Yeah, they have Bud, but is it the same as what was on the screen? And CGI tweaks are not the same as them being allowed to watch the movie and do random facial expressions. They work on the actress' likeness and use the shots they're given.
This isn't the same as making toys for a movie decades later that they can watch scenes and go "Oh, let's do this expression as a sculpt."
>>
I don't get this General sometimes, y'all spend more time going around about licensing issues or other crap LIKE THAT, then you do posting pictures of toys, or talking about the actual qualities of actual toys sold/available to buy/etc.
>>
>>11752764
The licensing sadly comes into play with a lot of these older properties. It's bound to be discussed when it can affect how and when a toyline can happen. I mean Jason was practically a drought because of legal BS, and Freddy's going to be stuck until someone dies it seems.

I can't imagine having that many Walmart nearby each other. They had to fucking send two drivers from two different locations about 10 freeway miles apart, all to deliver some TP and some coffee beans.
And still had to cancel the two blind box Dino toy eggs I wanted.

>>
>>
>>11754210
Some of these things are actually in some stores even if the 'pre-order' drop hasn't been 'revealed.' I got the one thing I wanted from this haulthon two weeks ago and people have had legit in-hand pictures of stock up on ebay since before March 20th.
I've no interest in Jason so I can't remember if I have seen it or not, but unless you don't have a Target near you, you should ask there, they might have it in the back and just not out on the shelves as well.

A Darkwing Duck line is inevitable right? Hopefully NECA will focus on releasing the villains people care about first IE Negaduck and the other Fearsome Five members instead of shit like Steelbeak and the walrus director Playmates did.

First branded display I have seen in my actual county. Where I bought my two items last week was actually (still technically my metro area but an hour on three different freeways away) in a different county/city.
I think the Count is the only new thing. I haven't been to this Target in at least 2, maybe 3 weeks so no idea how full it was. There regular Collectors Corner display was also well picked through and a mess, except for a huge chunk taken over by K-Pop Demon Hunter Funkos.
>>
>>11754986
>A Darkwing Duck line is inevitable right?
God, don't tease me like that.
>instead of shit like Steelbeak
Honestly, Steelbeak wasn't a bad choice. He was probably the biggest (or at least most recurring) non-Fearsome Five villain of the show. But yeah, Tuskernini wasn't a great selection. The fact that the unreleased second wave was going to include J. Gander Hooter and Agent Gryzlikoff was also pretty stupid. What kid wants to play with a couple of pencil-pushing bureaucrats? That would've been a good time to release Tuskernini and another villain (maybe Taurus Bulba), or even Stegmutt and Neptunia.
>>
>>
>>11755440
You're a baffling retard. Hiya doesn't need retail support like NECA does to get those big items out.
TMNT sells more than Godzilla so the risk isn't the same AND there's support for that. Fuck off already.

They probably will. The only figures we got were based on preproduction stills, I don't think the CG was even done, hence the reason for lack of any monster faces or forms.
But now they have the full run of the finished show to go back to. Do more faces, more characters (like a Perriwinkle), more accessories. IT always sells, guess we'll have to wait and see.
>>
>>11755595
They all look like fun toys. Though there's no price or age info to them to compare.

they wouldn't make him just a plug, not for an Ultimate figure. he's gotta have at very least upper body/arm/neck articulation right?
