Is there anything more mindlessly consumerist than having a Smash collection? A 64-inspired one, I get that but fucking Ultimate? The in-game roster looks cluttered and corporate as is but needing to dedicate space in your house for a physical replica of it? Not a single person that does this actually loves each IP's characters that much. Pic related is not the worst example though as you can find greater visual overload at Reddit.

Yeah, I have a smash collection of my own but it was basically built upon stuff I casually bought over the years, I could not care less for adding fire emblem or splatoon shit or needing a fucking Kazuya mishima or Fatal Fury Guy. I rather add videogames characters that would fit the theme like Chun li or knuckles than buying characters from ips I don't care for

It fits anthony customs a lot, he only know these characters from a wiki.

As someone who failed a Marvel Vs Capcom collection back in the Toybiz days, a Smash collection was a better stroke of luck since companies just happened to make Mega Man and such before even being announced, and then we got good Sonic toys later.
BUT i still wont buy everything. I love P4 and MGS, but I dont really want toys of them. Also Steve is the worst addition to the roster ever. I still want Ridley, K. Rool and a proper Ganondorf though

Popular game, especially compared to all the boomer slop in your image

Minecraft is hardly established as a Nintendo property compared to the others, especially since it was just one game. Also Steve is a setup fighter, which means he'll spend most times crafting a strong item while being attacked directly

Getting literally everyone to just have everyone certainly is. However putting together a bunch of one of videogame figures in the form of a smash set up is decent way to have some cohesion. Like imagine you have a Link, a Samus, a Megaman, Ryu and you like those series but don't have anyone else from those series. Throw in like a Mario and Kirby and you now have something that sort of cohesive with a bunch of unrelated video game figures.

>>11753128
Funny you say this because I recently started a Smash display. Goodsmile has been reissuing a lot of their rarer smash characters over the past year.

pacman is capcom, pokemon is gamefreak, kirby is hal soft, sonic is sega, banjo is rareware, shut the fuck up boomer

why do americans need to adhere to a strict guideline on what childrens toys can be put next to each other is this a mental illness?

Roster/Team building it's a collectionism classic what the fuck are you on.

>why do americans need to adhere to a strict guideline on what childrens toys can be put next to each other is this a mental illness?
Because we're not children who just throw a bunch of nonsense together with no rhyme or reason. Having a cohesive theme that makes sense to you is what gives each toy a purpose as opposed to them being clutter.

Ironically, this is the theme of Smash Bros.

Pacman has a better recognition of being a Nintendo game than other platforms, Banjo has 2 N64 and 2 GBA games, Sonic's been Nintendo exclusive more times than being 3P since the Dreamcast died. Kirby and Pokemon? You know nothing about video games

>Minecraft is hardly established as a Nintendo property compared to the others, especially since it was just one game.
technically by the time Steve was released in October 2020 there'd been three distinct Minecraft games released on the Switch(Minecraft, Story Mode, and Dungeons) so I'd say the franchise was quite established on Nintendo by that point(indeed of the five distinct Minecraft games that have been released as of this post, only one hasn't seen a Switch port, that being the discontinued Minecraft Earth)

That's the theme of Ultimate. The rosters before it weren't perfect but most of the additions added to the series had some logic to it from beginning with the main heroes (64) to villains (Melee) to the next more important characters to each IP besides the main heroes (Brawl) while also adding reps to debuting IPs in general (Ice Climbers and Fire Emblem for Melee, Pikmin and Kid Icarus for Brawl, etc.)
>>
>>11753249
No I mean the game since N64 has had the theme of a disembodied hand getting a bunch of unrelated toys and making them fight.

This. I have more of a vidya shelf than a Smash shelf, even though a good portion of the characters are in Smash. I just collect characters from games I really enjoy. So yeah I have Mario, Link, Samus, and Kirby but I also have Gordon Freeman, Master Chief, Doomguy, and Geralt of Rivia up there too.
>>

>(Minecraft, Story Mode, and Dungeons)
these werent even exclusive. In fact, Minecraft was mostly PC/mobile until the Switch came out.

Neither was FF7 relative to other FF games and they still double dipped before even considering other titles.
I know it's the most popular, but we're talking about Steve here after all.

Final Fantasy was still as much a Nintendo IP. Certainly not 7, but various orthers were. Same goes for DQ

>these werent even exclusive. In fact, Minecraft was mostly PC/mobile until the Switch came out.
not true, they were present on consoles as early as 2012(so only a year after the full release and only about three after the first public Alpha), and indeed the Switch version wasn't even the first release on a Nintendo console as there'd been a Wii U version in 2015

and yeah not exclusives(aside from some content only on Nintendo platforms) but clearly Nintendo doesn't worry too much about that when it comes to potential 3rd party characters joining the roster
>>
Might as well bash on team builders.
>>
>>11754226
you're still saying it wasnt even a Nintendo game as long as the other IP's were
>>
>>11753197
I've seen some amazing displays and collections where there are random IP's and scales thrown together but it works somehow, especially when spaced out (with risers which I'm surprised aren't more common) and not cluttered. There are plenty of collectors who are happy with getting only certain characters and not spazzing out about lore/universe accuracy.
>>
>>11754281
Nothing wrong with making your own teams. But if you're buying an official team, then you better actually like everyone on it

First of all, discussing the hobby is boring when everyone abides by the kindergarten rule of "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". If you have even a moderate amount of confidence in your tastes, you wouldn't resort to the "let people enjoy things" copout at the slightest hint of criticism.

Second, yes, Smash collections (mostly those that try to replicate the actual rosters) look like shit. They look cluttered, it's unlikely that the collectors are genuine fans of each and every IP represented which makes a good portion of their figures wasteful purchases, the downright retarded choices on Sakurai's part means that you'll have to buy the dumbest shit imaginable (Incineroar, Corin and Byleth, and needing to throw in a fucking random Piranha Plant with a mostly sensible Mario cast), and it's probably one of the most stereotypical Redditor behaviors of posting pics of their mass consumption for updoot bait.

People who naturally end up with a Smash collection made from the figures they've bought throughout the years or create their own "rosters" without blindly following the games are cool though.

Still a taste thing, don't know how are you supposedly "adding" anything of worth to the discussion by just calling shit "reddit" and "retarded" you have zero arguments just buzzwords

i don't have any of the smash character figures
but i have a massive collection of anime/manga figures and i don't watch/read any anime/manga
i just like cool looking figures really

Beautifully said. Plus who cares. Toys in general are unnecessary, and for most a privilege.

The spending habits of individuals is none of your business. You can criticize it, yes, but why throw stones in a glass house. Even worst, why consume the content of the consumer you are so much against. It’s wacky. Self reflect, faggot.

I don't give af. I got Spider-Man teaming up with Mr Freeze and Darkseid in my display cabinet you think I give a shit what stan lee or any of his goon army followers think

>The spending habits of individuals is none of your business.
There's a difference between criticizing the criticism of your alleged mindless consumerism and pouting that the criticism towards you exists in the first place. Anyone gets to have whatever reaction they want to content uploaded to the internet.
>You can criticize it, yes, but why throw stones in a glass house.
Because my collection has more thought put into it and is easier on the eyes. What gives me the authority to declare something like that? It's simply my opinion and obviously I believe my opinion is right, otherwise it wouldn't be my opinion.
>Even worst, why consume the content of the consumer you are so much against.
Where do I begin? How about the fact that collecting toys myself naturally makes me find said content interesting even if I don't agree with it? How about getting to see what other collectors do helps me to decide what I should or should not collect? How about how their consumption means less storage space, more cleaning, and more wasted money unlike my consumption which has none of those downsides? Or how about the fact that the internet is a more interesting place when people share their honest thoughts about things? Don't you think it's a bit ironic that for how much you accuse me of being an obsessed seething retard that you're clearly the more irritated one while I've been having fun consuming and discussing this content?

damn, you should post more toys and less reactionary holy than thou opinions
>What gives me the authority to declare something like that? It's simply my opinion and obviously I believe my opinion is right, otherwise it wouldn't be my opinion
Is that what you tell yourself? This opinion of yours, is very unique and totally not a reaction
>How about the fact that collecting toys myself naturally makes me find said content interesting even if I don't agree with it?
I mean you did see the thumbnail, right? You often click on things to get mad at on purpose? Usually people will either skip and move on

kek

you said that I didn't, I'm glad you are self reflecting. But you are right discussions are fun. I will apologies for calling you a faggot. That was uncalled for. I do get carried away sometimes.
