It's just multiple iterations of figures until they get them right. Juhn is a perfectionist, for better or worse. Use that old Miyamoto saying if you want. Paraphrasing, a delayed good game was delayed, but a rushed bad game is bad forever. The reason they have the reputation they have now is because of how good the figures are. Anon the main cost for a toy is the molds, these recolors just help them make for money for new stuff. Plus, they did it sparingly compared to Storm who is pumping out a million recolors for each figure they do

I agree with this, nothing is certain, specially in a toy line, but taking into account Juhn want to make stuff that other toy companies don't, I will assume they make a market research to figure Scooby Doo is a considerably popular IP, I mean for a 1969 cartoon, the characters are recognizable (including the monster of the week, most people will not be able to call them by their name but they will talk about that pirate guy or the spooky clown or that guy that looks like an astronaut with a skull), but of course as you pointed consumer behavior is variable and companies have to take a lot of risks, so maybe in a new interview or in SDCC Juhn will say: "Yeah... these doesn't sell as good as I thought" but even if this is the scenario, the line will be adjusted and wave 3 or 4 will consist in the rest of the gang, how the fuck I knew it? because he said that in a interview with Toymigos (I don't remember which video, there are a lot) the only certain thing is that we will have the gang. My other boxed Amiibos are totally fine and are being exposed to the same amount of sunlight (which is very little as I have them hung up on my wall above my window).
