The teaser appeared on both the official Tomb Raider and GI Joe instagrams. It's not a rumor. It's coming soon since this is the year of Lara's 30th anniversary, and we're already in the fifth month of the year.

Likely smaller made to order vehicles or stripped down larger ones. Like a MOBAT but without the extra addons exclusive figures or electronics. Likely why Steeler was released in that target two pack ahead of time.

It's always been a fan request but never something Hasbro has specifically teased. That said I'd rather it be a $200 made-to-order item with a single figure then a $400 month long Haslab campaign with a bunch of extraneous accessories and electronics.
I mean, the lights on the HISS tank are cool and all, but I wouldn't have been upset if they didn't exist and the price of the thing had been $50 cheaper or something.
Also, the Made-To-Order system means that Haslabs could theoretically be even larger vehicles and sets since there'd be a mid ground between retail releases at $100 and Haslab releases at $400. Like, they could probably squeeze out a $200 Conquest, but if you want a Skystriker, there's no way it'd be less then $500.
>>
>>
>>11797935
I'd prefer the Thunder Machine being around the same price as the VAMP and Stinger but with no figure, it'll sell itself without one, and releasing Thrasher as a single figure means everyone without the budget or the room for the vehicles can still complete their Dreadnoks lineup.
Make the Haslab project that Iron Grenadiers tank that Destro's Despoiler docks with.
>>
>>11798347
There are lots of good ideas to make the line more affordable thus more obtainable, but will Hasbro go with it? They can't even do a simple repaint of a previously-released figure without retooling the hair, face, accessories, or something. Just look at how they kept the HISS Arctic reissue high by changing a ton of stuff on it. Then they sold it for $200, which was pretty much the same price as the first one minus the figures and accessories. They're not even trying to keep costs down to bring prices down.
>>
>>
>>11798447
NTA but you read my mind. I was just thinking about this last night. Hasbro would rather die in fire than bring the prices down. Regardless of the fact that they would sell more copies at a lower price point. They seem to have subscribed to the corporatist philosophy that prices can never ever go back down ever again. It’s infuriating.
>>
>>11798666
>Hasbro would rather die in fire than bring the prices down. Regardless of the fact that they would sell more copies at a lower price point. They seem to have subscribed to the corporatist philosophy that prices can never ever go back down ever again.
Ive noticed this too. As a 3.75 collector i truly think that was also the main impetus for hasbro abandoning the 3.75 scale seemingly out of no where ten years back. They are a very obtuse and arrogant to the point that theyd rather go bankrupt then admit were ever wrong. The only time ive ever see hasbro admit they fucked up and go back on something was the eco-friendly windowless packaging fiasco.
>>
>>11798681
>>11798666
It's frustrating. They could sell more and make more by making everything more financially obtainable. It's like there's a stubborn pride getting in the way of economic reasoning.
>>
>>11798689
>It's like there's a stubborn pride getting in the way of economic reasoning
I hate it too and i agree with you completely, but unfortunately thats not just a behavior that hasbro alone does. Plenty of companies are arrogant and proud to a self destructive degree. Look at warner bros constantly canceling movies and yet shareholders still wouldnt kick out the CEO at the time. Or how disney would never fire kathleen kennedy and she just left on her own volition.
>>
>>
>>11798705
Can someone give a QRD on why several high profile people at hasbro quit within the same week? I saw the news of that on other sites but wasnt using 4chan during that time. So i dont know the more juicier speculation behind that.

Hasbro is moving their headquarters from one state to another. When corpos do that they tend to give severance pay to those who don't want to move. Probably everyone took the money and bailed since they knew they'd have another job lined up and wouldn't have to move their homes.

>>11798741
Go for it. It's part of military figure discussion.

I'd prefer that too, but I doubt you'd be able to get a good Thundermachine at that price point. $200 is enough to get a well detailed original mold with all the bells and whistles AND get a figure that's supposed to come with it.
And the DEMON is an awful vehicle, probably one of the dumbest looking vehicles in the whole line imo. I'd rather see the Moray, which is a far more iconic vehicle for Cobra and big enough to warrant the price point Haslabs are aiming for. Drop that, a Moccassin, a SHARC and Devil fish and you got your "theme" for the year in sea vehicles.
>>11798447
With the way the prices of everything sky rocketed over the past few years, having the HISS tank actually keep a similar price point IS very much an act of keeping prices "down". Honestly, I prefer slight retools and tweaks to figures and vehicles as opposed to just straight repaints, helps the new stuff feel fresh and unique. Cut seeing as we're getting the Ferret and Flight Pod again in a third color scheme is them doing exactly what you ask in just making straight repaints.
>>11798691
Due to the magic of tax fraud, cancelling a finished movie somehow actually makes the company money in the long run. So that's not a flaw of bad leadership from Warners, but a feature of someone who cares about short term profits over anything else.
>>11798681
Hasbro wasn't wrong to abandon the smaller scale stuff, they cost just as much as the 6" figures to make but people expect them to be way cheaper to buy. Also, I miss the windowless full cardboard boxes. The plastic tray is the bane of my existence as a toy collector and is always the least fun experience of dealing with new figures. Also the new boxes are boring as shit.
>>
>>11799274
>Hasbro wasn't wrong to abandon the smaller scale stuff,
Hasbro was wrong though, they stabbed their dedicated collector base of 3.75 figures in favor of going to a shittier scale
>they cost just as much as the 6" figures to make but people expect them to be way cheaper to buy
I dont buy that bullshit excuse either. I really dont think the boss fight studio fags who started that theory were entirely sincere about 6 inch figures costing the same as 3.75 figures to produce.
>>
>>11799311
Star Wars TVC cost nearly $30 a pop and come with way less gear, details, articulation and paint then a Classified figure for the same price. Hell, Hiya's Joes are near $40, and they're just mini-classified half the time. And it wasn't just BFS that made that claim, multiple companies have made a similar claim, which is why we see such a push to 1:12. Any decently made 1:18 figure is pushing $30 these days, some go for $60+ from some of the more independent companies who do better figures but smaller runs.
And no one got "stabbed in the back". The ME stuff had a great run, but slowly died out until it's last supporting retailer got merc'd by venture capitalists. They tried to bring it back with Wal-Mart for a hot minute, but Wal-Mart is a shitty company to have an exclusive line with and it wasn't "budget" enough for their tastes so it got the axe too.
Nobody cares what you believe or not, the truth is the truth.
>>
>>
>>11799311
>in favor of going to a shittier scale
1/12 has advantages over 1/18 though. You get more detail, better articulation and sturdier joints just by virtue of being 50% larger. Sure it makes larger vehicles impractical but if you're more of a character-focused collector it's arguably better.

>>11799457
You also get fewer figures and vehicles with both at higher prices than the smaller-scale stuff. In 1985 $150 bought you a 7-foot aircraft carrier. Today it'll pay for half of a 2-foot HASLAB vehicle.
>>11799484
I don't think it'll suck. I just want more than her basic outfit. I personally feel like her Nevada outfit with the army pants would be a better fit within GI Joe instead fo the OG outfit with shorts, but I know that's not what we're getting. I'll still end up with it anyway as a huge TR fan.

>hasbro shamelessly started sabotaging 3.75
The cartoon colors were awful. The plastic was noticably different. Metal rivets were replaced by plastic. The faces were painted weird. Overall they were a lower quality, and at $20 each that was inexcusable.
People waited decades for a reissue of V.1 Cobra Commander, which was one of the ones Hasbro lost the original mold to. Hasbro finally decides to make a new one, and what they produce with it is so shoddy that somehow the Black Major knock-offs are better quality. It's a damn shame. The original is just too expensive for casual or less-than-well-off collectors, and the retro reissue is just too.............well it looks like a fake when mixed in with regular original Joes.

If it was just simply a side line id be fine, but the fact that basically every company within the past ten years decided to focus mainly on 6 inch figures just makes me sad.
It sucks, I agree. That said, between 1/12 being more economically viable (similar partscounts to 1/18 but people will pay more for them) and just more popular, it's kinda inevitable, especially given the global economy. Thanks Obama!
...No, seriously, it was around the recession that 1/18 started taking a back seat and toy companies started being more penny-pinchy if memory serves, though Israeli puppet: orange flavour hasn't been helping much, not, admittedly, that I can think of any postwar US president that HASN'T been a blatant uniparty stooge who puts the whims of a hostile rogue state over his own people, but I digress. Point being I don't entirely blame toy companies for abandoning 1/18, even if I think it sucks. On the plus side 1/18 isn't totally dead; Hiya and JoyToy make some pretty decent stuff these days.

>6 inch figures costing the same as 3.75 figures to produce.
They pretty much DO though. Labor costs the same regardless of size. The plastic difference is possibly a penny or so, they're buying it by the metric tons direct from cheap providers. The molds aren't drastically different and tooling costs are pretty much the same. A lot of the pricing difference is from perception of value and shipping costs. Shipping costs used to be much better before the covid gouging, but cartons of 3.75inch figures are smaller than 6inch so you can get more product in a shipping container for 3.75. There is an absolute TON of price gouging in the market, look at what the smaller companies can charge (Nacelle Toys 1/10 Star Trek figures are $28 and have more accessories than a NECA Ultimate, and their Valkris figure came in a box almost triple the size of the regular figures and included the Genesis device without raising the price! It's huge! Plastic Meatball just put out their 3.75 Labyrinth wave 2 at $15 with multiple figures on one card, accessories, more paint aps. compared to Super7 minimal accessories and $25 price). cont in next post
>>
>>11801379
continued:
Hasbro has been talking about the price difference between 6" and 3.75 for over a decade now in so many old Star Wars and Marvel Q&A's, especially when they cited their Marvel Universe line dying because it was on the pegs next to 6" Marvel Legends, which are much larger and the price difference was minimal enough for the gift givers that they spend a little more to get more toy for their buck. There is a plethora of interviews out there, its not a big secret. Feel free to dig around. Most companies just price gouge, and lots of them claim "higher overhead" costs.
>>
>>11801379
>Labor costs the same regardless of size.
Labor costs are dependent on how much to produce. Figures with more parts have higher labor costs because there's more steps in production and assembly. That's why Transformers are so expensive now with them having five times as many parts as a G1 does. The 3.75" Joes have fewer parts, so they're much cheaper to produce and assemble.
Plus let's not forget that Joe vehicles used to come largely unassembled, which kept costs down.

Hasbro and most companies didn't move on from 1/18 because of whatever schizo nonsense you cooked up. People weren't buying them. The Market spoke and they said they don't want it. Deal with it and quit being a bitch about it.

This Shipwreck figure is the perfect kind of thing for a convention exclusive, a very specific to one cartoon episode variant look for a character most fans will already have the regular version of. On the other hand, a new female Cobra figure, even one that's just from one cartoon episode, is something likely to be in more demand.

It's odd, because being a 1990 character you'd think he would have been in the DiC cartoon, but they left him out entirely, and so did the comics, all he appeared in was that ad, and a few others, plus he was a boss in one of the two Nintendo games.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPsyb19bzb0
Sounds like it's James Avery voicing him with his Shredder voice, or someone else doing a good impression of him.
I don't know how much of it is true, but supposedly Hasbro had originally planned to do a storyline about Destro taking over Cobra (similar to what happened in the comics around this time), and Overlord to just be Cobra Commander in a disguise and pretending to be a new guy to work his way back into a position of power. If this is true, the plan was completely dropped by the time the toy was released, and Overlord was just some new guy that was a new addition to the Cobra high command and contender for the leadership position.
I think the only thing to ever use him since was the Devil's Due comics where he was Serpentor's general, and had the backstory of being a former Russian Spetsnaz named Mikhail Derenko.
He's on my Classified wishlist, and we're running out of Cobra characters they haven't done yet, so hopefully it won't be too long.
>>
>>11803429
Making Shipwreck convention exclusive will not only make it cost $20+ more than it should (like Pythona and Serpentor), it'll pretty much hand the supply of it over to scalpers who'll make it cost even more. That does nothing short of fucking over most collectors.

I for one, wanted him badly. His figure was a favorite of mine as a child. When they announced the classified everyone shit on it and most of the comments were complaining about his existence. Fast forward to release day and he is almost completely sold out before noon. Currently, my major metropolitan area only has one store with 3 left. I’m sure there will probably be more showing up on shelves soon but who knows. The same thing happened with Once a Man Cobra Commander. I felt like Inwas the only person on earth who was excited on announcement day and then when he dropped I wasn’t even able to get one because it was a fiasco. Joe collectors fomo hard lol

So far this is the bet of the year in my opinion. CC is a great character and one of the key characters, but I doubt it'll be as cool as this

I think the question is more whether they make the original 1990 Overlord or the 2000s Devil's Due costume, they're not likely to make a vehicle there wouldn't be much demand for. I'd like both costumes, but I doubt many people would want two versions of this guy.

It's OK to want both, anon. I want both.

There were at least two of us, I'm still in amazement this thing even exists.

Take a look at this. Everything in red not revealed is supposedly the following:
Final 3 of the main wave if they don’t get pushed to 2027 are:
Voltar
Muskrat
SF Road Pig
Take all this with a grain of salt but we’ll know within the next month.
The final 2 unrevealed mainline Deluxes are supposedly this year’s final legacy figure and the Dusty with Sandstorm.
The final 3 of the Retro wave this year are supposedly retro Flash, Firefly and Ripcord.
Final Target Exclusive is supposedly Ninja Force Snake Eyes and Jinx
Final Walmart exclusive is an either a new DIRE figure but we don’t know which one. Or it’s Night Force Outback.
The final Amazon/Fan Channel/Pulse exclusives supposedly are:
Stealth CLAW with pilot
Triple T with Slaughter
Water Moccasin with gunner
Marauders Mutt & Footloose 2 pack
Arctic CC & Baroness 2 pack
Arctic Stinger with driver
Vamp version II with tan Clutch
Cobra Fang
DIRE Tech blue SNAKE armor

Did Hasbro snub Larry Hama and won't give him his classified series figure and has to rely on BBTS figure line? I wouldn't mind since BBTS actually has ball to make a hooded evil guy. Would have been cool if Larry was in an official GI Joe Classified box though.

Eh, I think just the 2cm Flak. No gear pack for the German is kind of a headscratcher, and the weapons pack is pretty eh. Someone should probably drop a dime about the 1957 decorations, so the Germans don't look quite so boring. Here's to 2028 reveals, lol.
Oh, the Rocketeer was neat. Probably better suited on the paratrooper buck, but that's just some parts-swapping.
>>
>>
>>11804756
That's one thing Vala got right but Hasbro refuses to do. Hasbro's approach is to stuff the blisters so you don't need it. I'd do the opposite, lower figure prices with less in the blisters, toss in things like Slaughter's mini of himself as well as props from the comic book and cartoon, and sell "battle gear" packs like they used to. I don't think people would complain if Hasbro sold weapons packs with crates and gun racks packaged in. And it would be cool for figures that were supposed to come with vehicles to come with mini versions. Think of retro Wild Bill coming with a mini dragonfly.

Allegedly the guy responsible for the hooded cobra commander toy embargo was lorenzo di bonaventura who is mostly known as the producer for the transformers movies but he also produced the two gi joe movies also. The story goes he thought cobra commanders hood was "racist" and told hasbro to stop making toys of it and hasbro complied to stay in paramounts good graces. Funnily enough a bunch of bad gossip started coming out about lorenzo within the past year including how he was racist towards the latino directors of rise of the beasts so this whole outrage over CC's hood was all performative shit from lorenzo.

>local international toy show
Well the people from Fext hobby were there shilling their wares
Picked up escort L and data from another booth.
Man, from a smaller company this figure is great. At a minimum, it is better than NECA and McFelon. All the joints work right out of the box without breaking, have a full range of movements, and has none of these annoying soft ratchets from Hasbro.
Though they are a bit pricy when compared to your regular GI Joe Classified. They don't have that many accessories. Especially this figure. You don't have another proper close combat weapon besides the pistol. But it does have an additional joint in the torso, so side-to-side movement along with the ab crunch.
They also have the two human characters there with the exosuit and the orange bot. The human characters look kind of generic, and I don't like Orange's head.
I never had an acid rain figure before. I collect mostly 3.75 scale. But AR usually packs all sorts of goodies, bumping up the prices, so I never had one. But I think if the design is good, I might get a few more of these large acid rain figures just to play around.

Another image from the show. The buggy is huge.
One complain about Escort L
The way they molded its right hand is kinda of weird.
You know how joes have their gun hand slightly outward so the gun looks right when pointing straight. They did not do that here. The opening is parallel to the arm and looks a bit bizarre when posing.
Some hot water can for force the hand to a somewhat ok position.

>he was racist towards the latino directors of rise of the beasts
That movie was directed by a racist Black guy who failed his way up the ladder, and wanted a Transformers movie that completely lacked White human heroes. The movie was officially a success even though it did like Little Mermaid remake/Mandalorian and Grogu, and claimed it was a financial success even though people in the real world reported nearly empty theaters.

I am an invasive species into your G.I. Joe reservation and want a Lara figure more than any Joe, so to me she is due all the preferential treatment they can give her. At least it'll be fleeting, probably a one maybe two figure situation then you'll never have to worry about the crossover again.
>>
>>11805209

>>11805209

>>
>>11804961
My problem with Hasbro weapons for Classified is the lack of consistency in regards to who uses what. Cobras using Joe weapons , Joes using Cobra weapons and them consistently reusing weapons that should be unique one offs. I get they have to reuse molds to keep costs low, but there should be some guns that are restricted to a specific faction or unit.
Not that Bala is better. The thing that ruins a lot of the older figures is that everyone has that ugly-ass Maxim 9. Worse yet, the holster for the Maxim 9 can't be used for any other sidearm. Also, some Valaverse weapons, like the AKs are too big. It reminds me of some of the oversized guns we got in the o-ring days.
>>
>>11804295
>>11804333
Some people still want o-rings. Look at Operation: Recall and other o-ring lines. It's just a niche of a niche.
>>
>>11805220
They stuff blister trays with everything they can. They can't release a vehicle without including a ton of shit to keep track of. They can't do a simple figure repaint without retooling the mold. If they're trying to keep costs down I sure as hell haven't seen it.
>>
>>11805229
I collect both. There's no rule that says if you collect one then you're forbidden from collecting the other. The reaction+ stuff has been great, and there's still a ton of vintage that I don't have. And Hasbro always manages to throw out a Classified figure that I can't say no to.

>Never. Even Valaverse stopped making them because the demand isn’t there.
Other companies have tried o-ring, but either the quality isn't there or they want $25 for a figure that should cost no more than $10.
Most collectors don't know what they really want, they just buy what they perceive is popular. Right now, 6-inch has marketing hype from Hasbro, whereas o-ring or 3 3/4" has none. The herd mentality. That's what drives sales.
It's not the collector that determines what is popular, it's Hasbro that does. So my question is: When will Hasbro start hyping 3 3/4" again?

>Also told us the NYCC exclusive Lara Croft.
Of course she is, the one year I can't be there in person.
>>11807226
>they want $25 for a figure that should cost no more than $10.
And this is why we'll never get 1:18 figures again, because people still think that because a figure is slightly smaller it should be dramatically cheaper. The amount of plastic is probably the *least* influential part of an items costs and the only real advantage 1:18 stuff had price wise was that they could ship more items for similar prices. But if no one is buying them, you can ship as many as you want but it'll just be a waste of time.
Because again, no one was buying em. If Hasbro tried to push 1:18 stuff, the line would be just as expensive but far less popular as classified. Because if Hasbro really had the ability to decide "what was popular" they wouldn't have had so many flop lines.
>>11807259
People have been saying the line is dead since the line literally started. They haven't been right yet nearly seven years later, but I'm sure if they keep saying it then eventually they'll actually be right!
And yea, O-Rings are awful and I hate that they're making such a come back with collectors. If I wanted O-rings I'd buy the original joes and a box load of rubber bands. ME sculpt were far better figures and a far better use of a smaller scale and price point.

>>11807269
This is neat info, how is it coming out? And if not getting a Haslab means we can get more medium sized retail vehicles, I'm all for it. As is, we're already expecting the two smaller sets, two Vamp/Stinger re-releases and some potentially new vehicles, which is pretty cool to hear.

O-ring has a unique styling that makes gi joe stand out from all the generic rubbery shit. It has a kiddie charm that is sorely missing from today’s hyper realistic collector figs. They also have the added play feature of being customizable - just remove the screws to swap parts from other figs.

Any other line would have been canceled after the movie bombed and the movie toyline got clearanced out. No other toyline that shows up as plentiful at Ross/TJ Maxx ever survived, hence people saying it going to die.
>ib4 star wars and marvel
only certain waves from these series show up, whereas almost the entirety of the GI Joe line shows up at Ross and Ollies.
But i guess because Hasbro owns the GI Joe brand, they kept it on life support, because any profit is good and maybe because getting shelf space back after getting canceled is hard to do?
And now it looks like they're finally reached their limit and pulling the plug, because it seems they've fired almost everyone who was making the GI Joe line.

I've been posting in the GI Joe Generals since 2009 and was in the GI Joe threads before every toyline needed a General. I was posting in the GI Joe Generals even when Hasbro killed the line in 2016 and continued posting in the GI Joe General even after it switched to being called the 1:18 General.
So as long as people want to talk about GI Joes, yeah, you'll see me there, unless you're one of those consumerwhores who only likes shit if there's new products to buy?
>>11807436
I've always said it's been on life support when retailers stopped ordering as much and Hasbro was doing half ass releases (early 2023). It became obvious sales were down not just because of the plague, shipping crisis, and the economic downturn that was killing GI Joe: it was GI Joe losing its fanbase.
Screenshot also includes another anon referring to it being on life support right after the movie and its toyline bombed in 2021.
So it's pretty clear that the only people who said the line are dead are dumbshits like you who misconstrue people's actual viewpoints.

It's been my observation within myself as well as others that most collectors collect more than one line, so the varying lines are competing against each other for your limited money.

prove it. I already posted the earliest post of mine where i said the line was on life support.
Which is right around the time all the Cobra Island shit was showing up at Ross, making it obvious that despite Hasbro giving what GI Joe fans wanted (nostalgiashit), it wasn't enough to garner better sales and actually did the opposite, hence a boat load of stock showing up outlet discount stores.
So i didn't declare GI Joe was on life support for an entire year, because maybe various WAlmarts around the US were only tempoarily holding off on restocking GI Joe on their shelves, and that they would restock in Christmas. Maybe the Walmarts and Targets that kept on stocking GI Joe were going to give more shelf space again by then too.
But nope... some Walmarts no longer carried GI Joe after the movie bombed and those Walmarts/Targets that kept carrying it never gave it much shelfspace afterward.
Nevermind HAsbro themselves were releasing fewer figures per wave
And now GI Joe has decimated their GI Joe design team, almost like they're not going to even make new designs anymore.
So, can you go into our archive and find any posts of mine where i said it was dead and not on life support? My posts are pretty easy to find, given i almost always post a picture, with a descriptive file name, and i type out relatively long, rationale posts.
