Lego uploaded by mistake prelimanry Shrek 5 sets, they got delayed to 2027 because of the film's delay.

These two look fine. Fun playsets and the builds are decent. The rest are irredeemable garbage though. Designers should be ashamed.
>>

>>
>>
>>11804916
We are getting a shrek cmf based on the original trilogy versions in september (it was planned to tie in with the movie 5 but the film got delayed) so now it's more of an anniversary cmf. I also expect that cmf Shrek to not have a Hagrid type body like 5 version and we get a Gingy minifig too. I wonder if they will add more sets to 2027 lineup since these were 2026 before the delay, like the dragon for example. There's a Donkey movie supposed to come in 2028 and Shrek 6 and 7 in development too. So I expect the theme to have a long run.

>Pokemon BUT VEHICLE
I hate Lego so much.
Could these idiots really not think of a second figure to make? Polywag? Oddish? Goldeen? Those are all small.
>>
>>
These pokemon sets are fucking terrible, you have to buy the most expensive set to actually get 2 smart bricks to battle?
They should have gone the mario route, a cheap starter set sold at a loss with 2 basic pokemon, 2 smart bricks and tags, and a charger. Then the other sets could just be more popular pokemon and tags to expand your collection.
>>
>>
remember when people were concerned about pokemon sets being "scalped?"
well, every time I've been to a wal mart / target they are fully stocked on pokemon sets, no one is buying them. Even my costco has an entire pallet of evee that no one is buying.
These sets look like shit, let's be honest. I hope it's a massive flop for Lego.
>>
>>11804940
>The Pikachu treehouse also has a smart brick
It does but only one, meaning you have get another smart brick to actually battle. I get that these are playsets, but locking one of the main parts of pokemon behind getting the most expensive set (or already having smart bricks from the Star Wars line) is super shit.
>>
>>11804944
They need to rethink their approach with Pokemon and fast, I don't wanna wait another 7 years until they course correct like they did with Mario, we are getting Mario minifigs after 7 years of course building system ffs...
Imo, pokemon is one of the most valuable IPs in the world and it feels like Lego is mistreating it, this theme could've been bigger than star wars (during their peak since sw is pretty dead now)

Correct. What a stellar observation. Point is they get tiny molded figures in neat transparent enclosures and so does friends (also gay and girly omg!).
Just look at this adorable little fucker with transparent dual molding.
Pokémon will never get this.
>>

this looks like one of those molded Friends animals. I wouldn't want to have pokemon like that because i like to build things.
Also molded tiny poke-figure would look weird and stupid next to a BIG brick-build figures.

We also get a Rayquaza set in August that will have a Zinnia minifigure, we should get pictures of this one soon.

There was actually a rumour of a normal dnd theme for kids coming in 2027 and a cmf series 2. Hasbro is super open to that, they gave the license to other toy companies to make kids dnd toys too.

Most of them look good if they were sold on their own as normal sets, Garchomp, Lapras, Mew, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Cubone and Gengar work well
I legit don't get why they did all kids stuff as smart play when they knew majority of the world won't be able to buy them.

not that anon but these genuinely look worse than the mega sets and I always hated those cause of their weird part design. at least that as to facilitate things like movement/posability, these guys are just disgustingly round and soulless. like the lego version of funko pops (yes I know about brickheadz i'm talking specifically with regards to their pokemon designs)
if I was a fan of this series and I really wanted a brick built figure for some reason I'd probably just go with the nanoblocks ones

Nobody gives a shit about pokemon trainers except pedos and waifufags (its the same thing in Pokemon cards collecting - nobody is interested in Trainer Cards besides pedos. people just want Pokemon creatures).
And what do you mean "duplo"
oh you mean...actual BRICK-BUILT pokemon? NO WAY holy shit. who would expect Lego make BRICK-BUILT pokemon.
go buy those toddler toys from that "Pokemon thread" if you want to play with "figures"
>>
>>11804880
>>11804881
why the fuck do they have vehicles? I hate everything
>>
>>11805340
I always assume when a vehicle shows up in a licensed set and it isn't even something relevant to the IP (seriously why aren't they using misty's bike or the thing they ride in on pokemon snap or the SS Anne or whatever) that it's just some bullshit they threw together for the sake of arbitrarily raising the piece count (and thus, justifying whatever large pricetag they already decided on)
>>
>>11805340

>>11805362
yeah they would NEVER make toys that reference some one-off episode of the anime
>>
>>11805376
I honestly don't get why they haven't just changed how ditto works in the games so that this is his default mode, it's pretty much the only thing that pokemon is known for at all at this point (besides being used for easy breeding in day care centers, I guess)

>>
>>
>>11805371

they shill the first gen because they’ve been shilling the first gen for so long that it’s still what kids know
an average kid playing pokemon games isn’t going to know who jessie and james are but they know charizard and gengar and whatnot because the games still shove them down your throat
>>
With the whole first wave now revealed, I think Lego did a very good job in designing the Smart Play sets. I have no interest in that style of sets, but the age range they are designing for will. The blocky look takes getting used to, but first off its Lego and blocks and second off each was clearly designed so you could easily remove and replace the Smart Brick. The design has to therefore fit around that requirement.
The mix of this, the brick built statues of Pokemon and the rumored Poke Ball with interior scene set seems like a pretty good launch for Lego and Pokemon. Way better than what Mega ever did.

>seems like a pretty good launch for Lego and Pokemon
nope.
this CMF figure has a new hair piece (the hair piece is dual-molded colors), new printed torso/legs. new molded animal companion piece.
five bucks. $5
there's no reason Lego couldn't do the same thing for Pokemon. THAT is what customers expected. minifigs. in little scenes with little Pokemon.
Lego failed. anything besides that is going to look ridiculous. it makes them look like idiots. sorry. it's the truth.
>>
File: Dragon01-2945883024.jpg (550.5 KB)

The display despite being half the bags is flimsy and feels like it’s going to fall apart. At least the deku tree base is solid by comparison. The big Ganon is so fucking top heavy and convoluted in construction it damn near falls over despite being being clipped to the base. It’s like trying to pose one of those damn NECA gargoyles.
I could go on and on but hot damn what a hot turd… glad the minifigures clock in at $230… soulless faces and all.
>>
New Zelda set coming this fall, will have new BotW Zelda and Link Minifigs and a big scale brick built master sword with a display piece. Will be far cheaper than deku tree but a little more expensive than Ganondorf set.

Kids are absolutely familiar with the original anime. My niece and nephew watch it on Netflix. And I was at a 70th birthday party just this weekend, and there was a boy with a pokemon lunchbox thing. I asked him what his favourite pokemon were and he more or less ignored the question and just listed off in order all the Pokemon Ash caught and how he caught them.

Lego has already established a design consistency and it would seem awkward, or out of place, or not-"Lego" if the Pokemon were both small AND built out of bricks. minifig trainers would require the same type of companions.
everything else about that pic is solid gold. Lego would make sure to include le-black-display-base adding 4000 more pieces so they can properly charge $500 for it tho

Saw this set in an antique shop while on a well deserved vacation from my scavenging. 1000 MKD is about $18 burger bucks. I was going to talk the guy way down because I did want the mini fig. Nintendo does not have a say in what the Lego set looks like. If anything they probably insisted on NO fucking stickers. But no, they are not responsible for designing this crap or the Mario sets. It's actually a guy at Lego who got told by everyone on staff that this was a really bad idea. That's why for Zelda and Animal Crossing they went with minifigs. Most likely the Pokemon sets were in development a while back with the the smart brick shit but they wanted to debut it with Star Wars (and nobody took the bait).

it would be different if you did not know about the controversy. but you DO know. and you still choose to give those [crooks?] your business. yes, the [crooks] get your money despite muh-nice-local-store-owners
to you, the BaM stores should have virtually vanished. yes they are technically still there, but you shouldn't be going in. I don't think it's up to [us?] to protest outside the stores to spread the story, but if you know about it, and still go in... that's morally wrong.
b-but I don't know the whole story, I'm not the lawyer so it's not up to me to punish them, or punish myself by excluding the store from my shopping options.
what a strange dilemma. I'm glad I don't have one of those stores near me to have to make that choice (I probably wouldn't go, myself)

>Nintendo does not have a say in what the Lego set looks like.
yes. exactly.
Lego hands them a prototype set and says "is this cool?" and the Nintendo guy says "where are the Minifigs?" and the Lego guy says "we think this will sell better, so that's what we're doing. is it good like this though?" and the Nintendo guy says "sure. Squirtle always had a moon buggy, right?"
the Nintendo guy is NOT the guy saying "giant square-faced Pokemon! that's what we thought you'd do! so do that!"

What are your expectations lads on the minifig lineup? I say Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, Picollo and Krillin.
Also leakers said more Jap IP is coming in 2027 (among them now we know its Yugioh), I wonder what else are we getting? Maybe Naruto? Can't think of anything else really

>your expectations for next year
I personally expect more of the same but much more insane, for example now most of the budget will go only to show sets and legends, for 2026 it was split with legacy
I also expect some new location sets, a new destiny bounty (because I think the one with wheels retires by december next year), maybe we get a Legends destiny bounty
I expect the duskfall storyline from this year legends stuff to lead to a full fledged show very soon, the next gen of ninjago
The storyline of dragons rising should in theory end in 2027 with the 5 seasons story arc. We also should get more info on the live action movie (with a 2028/2029 release window). Ras master is probably the tiger from season 2 of DR that the F5 imprisoned.
>>
>>11806125
>anime accurate
Funny thing is Fortnite will get anime skins soon for One Piece and we might get our first anime one piece minifigs.... in fortnite lol
I do think our best bet at an anime OP set is a thousand sunny 18+ set since baratie will retire in july 2027 and it will be a while until live action gets to sunny (if they get that far, they didn't start filming season 4 yet, though its being written)

Genuine question here guys, with seeing what's happening to other hobbies and speculative investing; what is stopping someone from doing a buy out of a set or mini on Bricklink and ebay and completely wiping out all inventory to pump said item's price? Especially how affordable some sets are compared to singles in MTG or Pokemon

>What went wrong with this theme?
terrible set design. requires you buy every set, as each one is specifically missing something that should be there, but is in a different set.
for example Miss All Sunday included in $200+ set she has no reason to be in other than pay-that-$200-suckah
I want to slap the Lego employee who thought it was a good idea to have sets with and without Luffy WEARING his hat, it's so frustrating argh he's the main character and his hat is his most important thing aaaaaargh!!!! why do I need to spend $100+ to get him wearing his hat!!!!!!!! seriously hat-wearing should be a requirement in every set he's in.
>>
>>11806137
nothing but it is not really lucrative in the long run since it's easy and cheap for the manufacturer to restock it, they already made atleast 4x the money back (extremely low estimate) just from the scalper buying it, and if people are patient they can just wait for it to be restocked and buy it at RRP, also if scalpers do this too much it makes the sets or cards worth less second-hand since there are way more of them produced.
But if scalpers do this for sets that are already out of production it's way worse, if you buy up all of a certain set or figure on bricklink you can easily get a monopoly on it, luckily most scalpers are not smart enough to think of this.

It’s a weird situation for sure,
The Lego stores near me aren’t any better either. Statue shit and IP trash fill the shelves, and the prices are nuts too. The PAB walls are dismal. Half the wall is bright colored 1x1 studs, tiles and cheese slopes. At least at B&M I can get what I need and find some cool old school pieces, but the set prices are also questionable.
Basically boils down to which shitty company I’m gonna give my money to.

Pokémon leaks:
>Pokémon CMF (separate from the CMF theme!) in the works for FALL 2027 release
>Most characters are opponents of Ash (like gym leaders, gary, team
rocket, etc, but also Ash’s mom)
>each character comes with their own Pokémon
>Ash’s mom comes with Mr Mime
>instead of disposable boxes like other cmf they come in large multi part Poké Balls similar to how Vidiyo came in their own little carrying case
>there’s two additional series in the works
>it’s not cmf 1 or cmf 2 but the first one is Poké Ball cmf series and the second is Great Ball cmf series
>price is estimated $18 USD each
>10 characters in first wave with their own respective Pokémon in the first wave
>depending on demand this could be a lot more waves (though series 2 is guarenteed)
>more minifig scale sets are coming at different price points, including a Pokémon Center
>Smart Play sets will continue in 2027 and should have better distribution
>more 18+ brickbuilt Pokémon (such as Groudon and Psyduck), including a Pokédex set with an exclusive Pokémon and minifig
>>
>>11806079
They only check if the characters look accurate. They leave the models up to designers, like the ? Box? Those are not in Mario 64 and the interior is Mario 64 stuff. The NES with the TV? Im pretty sure the NES was being made (like the GameBoy, Genesis, Atari) and the designer retard was like "hey. We can make this more expensive with this shit that also requires the Mario smart figure".
>>
>>11805685
I might have actually bought the Sandcrawler if it weren't fucking GRAY. It seems decent otherwise but obviously overpriced due to Star Wars tax. The AT-AT I just don't get. It's a worse version of the previous AT-AT with some shitty minifigures.
>>
>>11806194
between shart bricks and mando slop there's a massive content drought for star wars of shit the few remaining star wars fans care about. I still mald hard on that turbo tank from last year, probably the only star wars set I was excited for besides the UCS slave 1 and then it happened and was a fucking farce.
>>
>>11806199
Do children even like the Sneedalorian? I never watched seasons 2 and 3 because I heard they turned into Ahsokaslop but I still think season 1 was probably the best thing that Disney ever managed to squeeze out using the Star Wars brand. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would really appeal to children though. They need to focus on prequels/Clone Wars sets since I think at this point that is what most Star Wars collectors are interested in, but they keep half-assing all of the prequel era sets and then massively overpricing them in order to funnel money into shartbrick sets and Groguslop
>>
>>
>>
>>11806216
They tried to course correct the brand with dozens of colorful Mandos after the pegwarmer garbage of Jinn and that black guy, but the show ended a while ago and people only cared about S1/S2 (I have no context, I didn't even finish episode 9). But it doomed us to a movie subtheme that wasted a year of star wars sets between the shart brick failure.

Friendly reminder that in China there is a brand called “Keeppley” that makes officially licensed building sets for Pokemon
Each of them looks nicer than every one of the small LEGO sets (imo) and they’re like 1/4th the cost
Again, these are official Pokemon product as well!
>>
>>11806126
Do you think they get a redemption arc despite all that, or they could be manipulated by a darker force? With the lingering thread of Nexo Knights potentially being connected to Ninjago like Chima was, I have a feeling Monstrox is Ras's master.

>>
>>
>>11806216
Season 2 had a great finale. It should have just ended there. Season 3 is really where they fucked it. I think that's where Filoni took over because like 3 episodes in suddenly you have to care about Bo Katan (Literally who?) and Ass-oka (again, literally who? I don't remember her form any of the 6 canon films). But they also expected you to watch Book of Boba Fett, which happens to also have the Mandalorian in it. I liked Book of Boba Fett because I like Boba and the actor, but it's not something you can take seriously at all. It was all ending up like slop upon slop to eventually cash in on the Mando movie which feels like they cut a bunch of shit out or rewrote because actual star wars fans don't give a fuck about Filoni slop and Clone Wars.

fleshies ruin all associated sets. these are borderline kino despite being Asian themed because its done well (thank you China for forcing investment in itself). I'd love to have sets where you build a pagoda or an arc de triomphe or something actually cultural and plop it in your lego city, but only China cares about that. Lego doesn't even make sets about Denmark.

Why do Lego fans accept garbage at the price point they demand? I mean just 4 years ago they came out with Lion Knight's Castle for $400. That was expensive, but now you all pay 50% MORE in lego price for less developed sets. You cannot look me in the eye and tell me that Lord of the Rings sets coming out are any good. They look like bland MOC from a 12 year old when they are supposed to be master builders selling the most expensive sets in history.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11806967
People who collect lots of sets notice that more and more pieces break in new sets. The ABS quality is degrading and is weaker. Their quality is going down hill. They more they try to make their plastic with less of a carbon footprint, the less long lasting the plastic. In order to be green and environmental, plastic is now not going to last you forever. Sets are meant to be built when you get the, for kids to play with for a few years, and then move on. That plastic you have sitting in sealed sets is now rotting on shelves. You can return sets to Amazon Prime after pieces break or get lego to help you with broken parts if they have it in production. But now I'm always worried every set I buy is going to have broken pieces.

Call me schitzo all you want. I have pieces breaking in 2020s. Maybe because I live in the south and they sit in hot trucks too long... who knows... but I have a bucket full of legos from the 90s and those are tough and durable. I would take then outside and play in the sandbox and yard. To this day they are stronger than modern lego.
You can disprove the shelf life. Every package of lego you buy has a best built date on it now since like 2024 or so. This is because complaints about their plastic quality is no numerous and they know it. They are trying to cover themselves. They silence this discussion. Nobody talks about it. But it's the ugly truth.

oh I meant to say something like... you can sneak those pieces into one of those $30-$50-ish Friends hair salon sets. I'll find 'em. please though not in anything over $80, if you can. I mean, I wouldn'r buy a $200 set just for one hair piece but if you did do that I would have to figure out how to get it by itself at some future point (as long as it existed, I guess that's better than nothing)

People are going to call him crazy but I have sets from 2015-2017 with the brittle shit. Yeah, the usual culprit colors break buts worse is that the rest of the colors now creak and make noise when I try to use them which worries me that tho brown and pearl gold might have gone bad, there might be a delay for other Lego colors to start breaking as time goes on.

Oh shit I actually play with my toys so I never considered that point. What happens when that $300 Glup Shitto starts cracking and the market tanks. None of them will ever be thousandares!
Fuck Lego investing but also fuck utah.

Its kinda fucked because they're dropping $600 dust collectors now. I would hate it if my expensive dust collector starts breaking down. My Simpsons Lego house and Ghostbusters HQ already suffers from brittle brown and dark red.

That’s just not how I operate.
I just got Ganon and it sucks and I’m not going to display it so I handed it over to the kid already.
The joy I get playing with them is more than any potential resale.
>>
>>11807318
Well giving your toys to your kid is the best thing you can do so cheers. But it's a shame that lego quality is allowing so many mistakes not for myself but for the future generations. I have only bought a couple sets in the past 5 years but I want them in case I have kids some day
>>
>>11807323
Yeah it’s harder and harder to find decent kid friends (playable) sets. Friends, 3-1, and polybags are my go to because they’re still meant to be played with. I usually shy away from licenseslop or big sets but Ocarina of Time was formative in my youth… Christmas 1998.

Dunno anything about that, but as an oldfag returning to the hobby not too long ago I can say for 100% certainty that there's absolutely a difference in brick quality from "modern" sets compared to 20 year old ones.
Funnily "modern" can already date back as far as 2014.
Think primarily about very visible factory injection molds, shit colors, etc.

I have over 100 sets dating back to 2019, and I've never had any problems with them. From what I've seen, brittle pieces are usually caused by how the sets are stored. Things like extreme heat, direct sunlight, very cold temperatures, poor ventilation, high humidity, or using an oil humidifier can all contribute to it. Oil humidifiers are probably the worst offender because they can create a chemical reaction that affects ABS plastic and causes it to degrade over time.
I don't know if I'm just lucky or if I simply take better care of my sets than some of you, but I've genuinely never had any issues. Well, maybe one. I had a hand break on a Chima minifigure, but I think that was my fault because I put too much pressure on it.
Another thing I've noticed is that sets sold in the US seem to have lower quality control compared to those sold in Europe. I suspect that may be related to the factory in Mexico, but that's just my personal opinion.
At the end of the day, I still think LEGO is a high quality toy that can last for decades if you take care of it, just like anything else. My only recommendation is not to get caught up in the hype and buy sets at full price. Be patient and wait for discounts.

Yellow is questionable because there's a Zelda set coming this fall but we don't know if it's this one. I think it's very likely to be though.

I store mine in big plastic boxes (minifigs, bricks), I don't think ziplocks are a problem if they don't get humidity.
I'm gonna say the 4 horsemen of apocalypse for lego are:
>humidity
>sun exposure
>oil humidifiers
>very cold temperatures
Also, don't keep your sets for a long time period in a car exposed to the sun because it will get hotter inside.

I recently built the icons dune ornithopter, I got it back in 2024 and kept in sealed in box in my wardrobe since 2024...
I had no problems with the set, all pieces were perfect, one complaint I have is the lady Jessica minifig had a scratch, I think Lego should have minifigs in separate bags from pieces because its possible it got scratched during friction with the other pieces. I think if there was such a huge problem of sets degrading like anon claims in 5 years (2 more weeks lol) then there would've been huge backlash by now. Lego cannot contain the fury of millions of customers and neither can LAN. I'm not defending lego, just saying a fact.
>>
>>11807526
And IF there are some problems with some pieces it can be atributted to the environment the collector lives in and perhaps to lego themselves, lego now produce more sets than ever and the mold machines never rest, pieces don't have the time to cool down like they used to because they are in a much faster production cycle, so there might be some pieces that crack, in the end I think its all about luck with lego. They are kinda like hasbro now.

As much as Mata Nui would sell they'll never do it, meanwhile I'm sure Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter will get a wave of sets because Lego wants to attempt to attract teenage girls instead of selling to established fans.

Filmed the unboxing for you lads. Promise I'm not 'tarded, just opening it left-handed. Pieces are intact.

Won’t really know until you start putting it together.
It’s so much fun placing a 1x6 brown as you’ve done a thousand times and watching it crumble to dust in your hands or splinter into shards.
It’s okay to be confused I was.

It's because all your sets are from 2019. If you had the ones from 2013-2017 then you'd have actual broken bricks.

it's like the BaM scam nonsense

that's the maddening part

Yeah these would actually be decent sets that are actually playable for children instead of being cheeseslope/1x1 spam display abominations *if*, and this is a big if, they weren't so horribly expensive. Oh, and if they didn't have big stupid gaps in their designs to fit the stupidly oversized "smart brick" that make it look like shit whether or not the brick is in there.

Sadly true. I live in the CA Bay Area, and I have never once seen any store actually have any Lego in its clearance section. Not sure if it's a big urban zone thing in general or if it's just all the fucking pajeets.
>>
>>11805685
Oh good. More The Wholesome Chungus and Baby Sneed slop-tier reskins of things that we've had multiple better versions of instead of something that people actually want.
On a related note, I bought the recent X-Wing and regret it immensely. It's just worse in every single way than the one from the Rebuild the Galaxy Uglies set. But I have to give the box art points for covering up how shitty and exposed the poorly functioning technic "mechanism" for the wings is in irreallife.
>>
>>
>>11806104
Paul's incompetent handling of the local marketing made me choose not to buy any of it out of spite even if I might otherwise indulge in a non-Pirates ship just cuz I like ships.
>>11806490
>>11806173
But if I'm being honest, this was a big factor. I like to keep boxes. I do not like to keep boxes with some disgusting pajeet-looking brown creature leering out of the corner at me. Plus it reinforces that the sets are explicitly based on the nigflix show rather than the animu, which even with my hatred of weebery just looks more disgusting to me whenever I see screenshots of it.
