I was incredibly excited when I heard Helldivers was getting figures and then instantly disappointed to learn McFarlane was making them and then absolutely distraught when it came out they were going to be 7" figures. I don't even know why he bothers to license figures, he hates anything not Spawn or Batman and the figures always turn out like crap.
These guys should've been 1:18 figures and they should've been made my practically any different company. Jazwares had the Halo license for a while and made some fantastic, if not flawed, figures in both 1:12 and 1:18 scales, with vehicles for the latter. I feel they would've been far better suited for Helldivers then McFarlane as his figures are overpriced and under quality.

I bought the Jazwares Vault Halo:CE/Halo 2 and Halo 3/Halo 4 collectors packs, both $40 each so $20 per figure, and they're fucking fantastic. Paint, posing, detail, even reflective visors, all great. I have a lot of 1:18 scale Halo figures from Jazwares in fact. Jazwares would've done great with Helldivers. Hell, if Joytoy can afford the Warhammer license, they could've bought a Helldivers license from Sony too. It'd be better to just buy a 3D printer and make your own instead of buying from dumbass McFarlane, or commission a custom from someone.

Popular video game on console and PC. 4-player co-op game where you play as a Helldiver, the figure in question, and shoot giant bugs, robots, and aliens. Think Starship Troopers meets ODSTs from Halo.

Think of it this way. McFarlane, every online distributer, and Walmart selling out instantly every week will hopefully signal to the other companies to cash in on the IP. Fortnite had McFarlane, Jazwares, and Hasbro. This might turn out the same.

Wait, McFarlane is an actual person? I always thought that was just the name of the company.

Seeing McFarlane is the only option for a character you want is so painful. For me it’s Johnny Silverhand. But I don’t want a 7 inch brick with pin joints. The company is stuck in 2007 and I hate there is still retards thinking these are premium high quality products.

>Figure looks cool
>don't know what Helldiver is
So basically 'discount storm troopers' plus cape because Sony couldn't get a Star Wars license from Lucas Film or wanted to rip it off to make their own boondoggle?

Their Halo figures are still their best stuff. I dont give a fuck about some shitty ass spawn with a chain and shitty looking cape. The fucking colors on the Halo 3 figures were so good. I had such a big collection of Spartans and Covenant. Fuck bro the Halo reach stuff was also amazing. Those elites were top notch. I regret throwing my toys away when I went off to college. (Got married and have 3 kids now and mostly collect Dragon Ball Figurearts now.) What I wouldnt give to have my old Brute Chieftain back. XD should have just boxed them up and left them in my parents garage. I was a stubborn child back then...

The only McFarlanes I own are the ash and fire Avatar ones, for a few reasons. On their own, they are superior to the usual McFarlane figure in articulation, paint, detail, accessories etc., the normally stupid scale actually makes them perfectly scaled for 1/18, his usually awful proportions don't apply as they are lanky and elongated anyway so they are proportioned correctly and, lastly, the liklihood of anyone else doing any Na'vi figures again is extremely slim. I agree McFarlane figures are atrocious in general.
I listened to a podcast that had a guy who does the hooking up of licenses to figure making companies and he said basically that, for whatever reason, video game studios are bizarrely backwards in their willingness to license out. They only even consider McFarlane or at most Figma, the idea of proposing Inart or someone is extremely difficult, they are totally ignorant to it. With Ubisoft branching out to UPF and CCStoys for Asscreed a day Splinter Cell, maybe there is a new era dawning.
