New Stranger Things guy arrived today. Never saw the hsow so I don't get the references but the main figure is nice. The rubber chicken gun looks more like a turkey baster, and the 8-Track Laserbeak is a weak cassette animal. Still, the van guy a good figure. Only weak spots he has is no waist, and his shoulders are big ol' ball joints instead of something more substantial.

I managed to get Energon Starscream last week. Surprisingly great figure for his age. Had to use some dry lube on his right bicep as it was a bit tight (and 20 year old clear plastic isn't something you want being too tight) but that aside he's a lot of fun. I wish he had wrist swivels but that aside he's nicely poseable and the transformation is cool. Also the ghost/undead look is really nice.

Going back to my autism about Skywarps forearms for a minute. The Siege mold gang molded to the forearms, and I'm certain that's how ER did it as well. 86 ditches this, and for some reason, seems to gang mold the forearms with the thrusters/head, and what makes this insane is that the bottom of the arms is the proper color, an inversion on Siege. I don't get why they did it like this, it would mean most seekers would need paint there and that whole section is wrapped around by several partsbin plane mold so the risk or chipping is high.

Did my best with the stickers on the trailer, though some of them still ended up a little askew. The missile launchers on the repair drone seem a bit loose and it seems to lean a little to the left when extended. Also, not sure if there's some trick I'm missing, but it really did not want to stay upright when I tried to get a pic with it like that earlier.
So the Quack and the Yess I assume is meant to reference BW Megatron. But we already have default BW Megatron and Transmetal 2 Megatron so I guess this means it's Transmetal 1 then?

A modern TM Megatron toy really only needs 3 improvements from the original: - no brown plastic syndrome - VTOL turbines that can pivot - hollow out the tail so a robot arm can stick down it like in the show

To my knowledge, recent figures with rubber wheels all have the same problem along with those cubes they put in with the retro reissue G1 figures.
The same problem as the RTS bleiugion with his treads. The rubber de-plastiecize (is that what it is called?) turn hard plastic into mush. ... I really wish they reissue those RTS figure.
They stop doing gimmick tie-in with the mainline and went all in with screen accurate characters around 5 years ago. So you more or less get the same characters- but better version without anything interesting or different.
This isn't like with TR 10 years ago when they had to use their heads to figure out how to tie the gimmick of the year with characters they want to make. Some compromises have to be made, but the results were always interesting
