I've always been stuck on the idea of a girl's belly gurgling and making bubbling noises as it starts to fill with some sort of fluid that becomes gas as her body processes it.
Something she ate or a virus upending her body's digestion process to turn her stomach into a production facility for the odd liquid. A sloshing gut churning with the corruptive substance. Pressure builds and between the worsening burps and farts some of it will even start to leak from her belly button. Direct contact with the fluid being a guaranteed infection for any girl that happens to do so. The more they eat the more any byproducts they don't convert to fat just become more of the fluid. They become overwhelmed by the changes and are corrupted into gassy hungry fatasses spreading gas and and the corruption.

Maybe it's some scientist's attempt to make people no longer produce shit for a more efficient bodily function and accidentally makes this instead. She becomes the first victim as she's pinning down on of her assiatants and rubbing her belly button discharge onto her so she'll be corrupted too.

We still lack certain elements though. The drive to spread the infection for instance. I think adding that the fluid produces a uniquely smelling form of gas that's slightly different from normal human farts and burps. It might help in making the whole ordeal be more satisfying for the infected, if the smell is messing with their perception. What was previously off-putting becomes a welcome smell after infection, maybe even some form of high.

The smell having a psychological effect on them was part of this thing's plot. Just the stink was hard to deal with but the more they smelled it the more it affected them. So having some psychogenic side effects that lowered their resistance or inhibitions. Even making those infected start to forcibly rub themselves on classmates to spread the stink and make them produce it too.
