What travel tidbits have you come to find you can't travel without
>Fork/Spoon/bottle opener combo
Comes in handy more than not
>mini ice tray
Never understand why Europe and some airbnbs don't have these for drinking or just convivence
>desk fan
Makes a meh airbnb so much better
>mouse pad
never understand what it is about Asia and glass or glass surface desks
>rubber bands
makes packing into a smaller suitcase far easier than vac bags
>USB stick with OS install+drivers
Either chromeOS or Windows incase a linux or windows update fucks up
>multiplug wall unit
not sure why but so many places only seem to have 1 plug these days in the worst
>multivitamin solution
heard this was a meme, thought this was a meme, after living in SEA it's not a meme
>spare shoe gel insoles
never realized how quickly some of these can wear down while being out and about to save your feet

A small fan, esp to hot climates or to countries where air con is an afterthought. That in your face fan esp with white noise, is dual purpose to dry off post shower, keep you cool enough to fall sleep some where like Venice or Spain, and to buffer noise.
Metal insulated water bottle for ice cold beverage that stays cold all night bedside, or hot tea all night, or icy all day. Refill from every restaurant throughout the day.
Real noise cancelling headphones.
puffy vest for seat comfort, esp with neck support.
Extreme comfort insoles and firmer soled shoes for cobblestones.

E-sim cellphone or upgraded cellphone in general
>for years don't want a samshit or itoddler device
>other phones with e-sims seem weirdly expensive, figure my phone just werks
>upgrade last year to A36 (deal with my carrier)
>land and instantly have internet no BS wondering if my flight lands and sim shop open or dealing with 711 SAAARS HERE GOOD DEAL!!!1
>camera isn't half bad meaning I can leave my good shooter in the room
Holy shit, while I get I'm saying goodbye to custom rom's but man so worth it. Seriously 200 bucks will get you a good deal I've found, yeah upgrading kinda sucks for a bit but overall not sure why I kept clinging onto that shit.
Also, if US citizen Google Fi >>>>>>>>> anything else. 20/mo for free wifi calling(something like 20c a min without wifi calling) and texting abroad.
>>

I use Talkatone's free US phone number service for calling my bank or texting my brother back in America (the only person in the world I chat with on a regular basis).

An insulated water bottle is too bulky to carry around in your hand for six hours, IMO. When I take daytrips I bring a throwaway one liter water bottle, maybe a disposable rain poncho, and nothing else.
>fan to block out noise
This works surprisingly well. Earplugs alone don't stop you from hearing that obnoxious dog that won't stop barking next door, but crank a fan up before popping in those earplugs, and now you can rest at last. Here in India, a five-speed ceiling fan is standard in even the cheapest rooms, so traveling with a fan is pointless.
>shoe insoles
You can buy them at a department store in any city.
>hard seats
That's something your ass should get used to. In any case, sitting for too long is not healthy.

A meter long cable has always worked fine for me.

HDMI cable - makes every hotel tv a possible second monitor to dick around with
Ethernet cable - Asia these these are GOAT due to channel saturation and Temu level routers. Had one place where calls were dropping and speeds all over the place with latency, plugged in my ethernet got like 250/250 compared to the 15-25mbps on wifi.

>beryl travel router
>cheap ass tv stick off Amazon with Plex on it, connects to my laptop
>roll up travel blanket, the case is so soft so it's a pillow when stored
>proper $50 eye mask, yes I paid that much, it's worth it, like wearing nothing
>>
>>2864778
Never got the travel router BS, maybe it's just my Xiaomi device but it can bridge a wifi to like 10 devices.
>proper $50 eye mask, yes I paid that much, it's worth it, like wearing nothing
gotta ask wtf kinda mask this is, best come with some kind of ear cancelling shit

Backup phone which is a clone of your real phone, in case your main one gets lost or stolen.
An old used/broken iPhone 6 that you can hand away in case of robbery.
Yes, I always travel with 3 phones. They dont take up much space.

Yeah I do the same, but now with 2 phones
iphone 16 plus - All banking, work, travel apps(hotel/airline/etc), personal backup emails, backup cards and transit cards in wallet, main phone line
Poco X3 NFC(the camera is GOAT with gcam) - drinking, party, oh fuck I need to leave it at a bar for collateral because my card fucked up, taxi/grab/uber main phone
Debating when I head out next month to bring my old iphone 11 or not, it's small as shit but idk. Ever since I got a wallet case for my phones the screen cracks and issues from drops have been far fewer. I kinda feel schizo for taking 3 phones

I have high reliability/security needs and deal with too much bullshit from bad wifi or reception
Main advantage is connection bonding
So I can have seamless failover to the mobile connection if something goes wrong

Phones can't share their VPN connection with hotspot clients unless you're on a rooted android
A travel router makes that much easier especially if you want to set up policy routing as well
They're super small and inexpensive (<100eur) anyway.
>>
>>
>>2865223
Well if you only have one client a router is indeed pointless but that's a super basic use case
Most phones don't route tether/hotspot clients through their active VPN without root, while it's possible with a proxy server that's rather dodgy.
I use mine to provide routing to different VPNs per client between work and personal devices.
Bonus point is that it can connect to the wired port in hotel rooms in case you get stuck with a corner room with shit wifi.

A spare phone. You almost certainly have an old one in your house somewhere. Bring it with you and write down + safely store important numbers and log in info. Then if you lose or get your phone stolen, you can just get a cheal local sim and not br left up shits creek.

I remember anons getting so triggered over suggesting vitamins and after doing no vitamins vs. with vitamins I have no idea why people don't take a simple vitamin. Literal catch-all for anything you lack due to drinking, girls, or hikes.

OPTIMEN if I can find them, GNC with whatever designed as workout supplements are the best for my money I've found. Centrum is fine I guess, I work out 4 or 5 days a week so vitamins are almost required with timezone differences.

Blackout mask or whatever the thing is you call it to put over your eyes.
>book condo or apartment in SEA
>BIG ASS FUCKING WINDOWS
>6AM already getting light straight into the bed
Also, spending extra on proper headphone/headset = must

A proper travel cup, never thought it would be useful but I found it so useful in the weirdest situations.
Spare slip on shoes, found use more than once especially with oversea gyms having no outside shoe rules.
USB-C powered monitor which specifically helps for work
I don't know why, not even fat but I've found a spare stick of proper western style deodorant to be worth it. I feel like I take good proper showers, dress right, but man whatever the hell they sell in Asia often sucks. I wish I knew where some of these people who just type "go anywhere" type comments mean. Yeah no "just any convince store" that sells that weird roller ball liquid and overpriced v05 is garbo tier.

idk what you're taking but a multi vitamin isn't a "catch all" due to drinking or girls (???) i looked at your optimen, overdosed vitamins, underdosed minerals, and a bunch of useless blends
if your diet is decent, it does nothing
if your diet is trash, a multivitamin won’t fix it either
>>
>>2872800
NTA but as someone who digital nomads, it helps far more than the "it does nothing, I saw a YT video about it" than it hurts. Sure it's not a fix all thing but more of a catches on things you don't realize you've lacked. I think that's what the anon is trying to say, in terms of recovery from drinking (flushing down B12/B6) a vitamin can help bounce back among other things.
I work out maybe 2-3 hours after my 11-7AM work cycle(Tues-Fri) since it's perfect time kill to wait for things to open when in Asia. Then go out and about for another 4-5 hours for food and exploring, I assume most anons who brag about living abroad do similar(maybe not as much on the gym). I 100% notice the difference between no vitamin/supplements and taking them while abroad. Sure you can go on and on about your diet but unless you're meal prepping at home to understand all ingredients in it, you're probably not sure exactly what you're getting daily. If nothing else I notice when I am on a multivitamin my sleep schedule is more consistent than without and for .10c a capsule? Worth just whatever generic centrum style workout.
>if your diet is decent, it does nothing
Yes in a perfect world you eat everything great and if you live a normal sedimentary life style it will do minimal to nothing. Lifestyle is a huge factor here, if you're the stereotypical 4chan nomad who wakes up, works, eats, walks around for an hour, and drinks/goons on the weekend sure; vitamins in that life style probably do minimal to help other than counter a hangover. I try to be out and about at least 4-6 hours a day trying to see or do something otherwise the whole "digital nomad" doesn't make sense as I could just live back home.

I have an Asus RT-AX3000, it runs the VPN server for 10 devices. There are better models just look for "Wiregaurd Server" or "OpenVPN Server" I also just have a laptop that I remote into as well, I just close the lid set the power settings to never sleep and have a built in workspace+UPS right there.
Unlike /g/ that says you need heavy equipment you really don't. I get about 75mpbs up/down from Japan to the midwest and decent latency for what it is.

>>Fork/Spoon/bottle opener combo
Yep
>>mini ice tray
I really don't care about ice unless I want to mix something. I'd rather not be cheap and go to a bar.
>>desk fan
Only if there's space for it. Otherwise, just sleep naked over the bed.
>still too hot
>mosquitoes
Probably there's a proper fan if you're in a place like that. Just make sure to left your room closed and dark.
>>rubber bands
Yep
>>multiplug wall unit
I'd be careful of them. Some electrical installations are pretty sketchy. If I used them I'd only plug two devices at a time
>>multivitamin solution
Tell me how did they save you
>>spare shoe gel insoles
Interesting.
Let's be honest, it depends a lot of the kind of trip you're going to.
Something I try to never forget are antihistamines. You'll never know what can bring you an allergic reaction and, depending on the place, getting them could be a pain in the ass.

glinet routers handle captive portals with ease
I understand why people in this bread are skeptical, I definitely was but it's tiny and worth every cent, I couldn't go back to logging in every fucking device each time I get to a new hotel now
>>
>>
>>2873683
for me
>Tell me how did they save you
the ability to recover after a weekend of some drinks and parties is minimalized. I try to stay out 4-5 hours per day usually hiking in late spring to summer seasons; the difference in recovery from day to day 10-15km in Asia summers is no joke.
>Let's be honest, it depends a lot of the kind of trip you're going to.
I assume most people on trv are the same schedule as me for Digital Nomad, going out around 6AM to some location to take photos of after doing 1hr at the gym doing weights and being out and about till about 4PM local time and snoozing for 7ish hours. If I don't stay outside for at least 4 or 5 hours a day I don't see the point digital nomading.
