Those are Vietnam threads, but not an actual Vietnam General.
>>2867664
Group of four asking specifically about their trip
>>2862690

>>2872636
Visa runner asking specifically about Ho Chi Minh City.
These are not general discussions, they are very clearly self-serving threads.

Why are Vietnam lovers always so vague about their experiences?
>I highly recommend
>The country is great
>It was a lot of fun
Is Vietnam the new "babby's first extended trip overseas" destination? Because everyone who goes there sure as hell talks like it was the first time they've ever done this kind of thing. They have no frame of reference to compare it to, so they are unable to voice any meaningful compliments or critiques regarding the country.

I arrived in Hanoi a couple of days ago and it felt so wrong: so polluted, bad smells everywhere, insane chaotic traffic, unbearable humid tropical heat, people are nice at first but some also seem to see you as a walking ATM.
But then I entered into a random bar playing vinahouse tonight and I had a ton of fun, people gave me a lot of drinks, encouraged me to dance, wanted me to flirt with their female friends to troll them, lots of laughs, anyway it was insane, so I guess I just needed to get acclimated to the local pace of life.
I went to a Jolibee beforehand and a girl told me "I'm surprised to see a foreigner living around locals" so I imagine I ended up in a district that is absolutely not touristic and that's why my hotel is so cheap, hence the initial shock factor.
The air is so polluted tho, the government really needs to do something about it. At least I can stay if in my room if I don't want to interact with anyone and not breathe the smog.

Yeah I've heard you can buy N2O in some clubs but I haven't seen that from my own eyes yet.

Not as easy to get now as about 2 years ago. Also don't.

Don't take cabs. Book a Grab car.
Pay the 25k for Grab unlimited and enjoy Grab Premium cars at cheaper rates than regular grab rides. I am an unapologetic Grab shill because of its dirt cheap convenience.

Things seem fine. I fuel up rather often and never have to wait. The feds cracked open the emergency fuel subsidy fund last month to slow the price creep.
Supply isn't affected much for the layman. The main worry is on jet fuel rn, but so far so good despite Petrolimex's warnings.

It's not unreliable, but merely time-consuming and difficult to figure out (in cities with non-numbered bus routes). Most tourists' time is worth more than their money, which is why they spring for a taxi from their hotel door.

Many guys brag about it, but they never provide proof, so for all we know they're a bunch of larpers. Others claim that Viet girls have zero interest in hookups with random foreigners.

I'm not bald or fat, but I'm 5'8 so that probably cancels out my whiteness. Also as a no experience virgin I may as well be autistic as I'm too innocent.

From my research, it seems Vietnamese girls only want serious relationships, and with other Vietnamese. This honestly makes dating more fun as a white guy, but also harder. It's not like Philippines where every girl is looking for a white sugar daddy, it's actually first world.

If you can find that shit then do it. Used to be available 24 hours a day on Bui Vien. Post-COVID I'd just camp out in abandoned clubs throwing myself a bday party with last night's crypto gains. There is no better feeling than doing hard drugs outdoors in public with Elvis playing for the whole street to dance to.
I hear they're easiest to find in Nha Trang at this time. I haven't found any since the regime change in 2025.

It's definitely bad for your brain and not in a negligible way like some drugs. You can fuck up your life doing half a tank or more of NO2 at once if you don't take B12 supplements. Once a week with the supplements is fine. It's not addictive but you build tolerance really quickly. Don't chase that first time high cause it's never coming back.

Hanoi sucks ass. The whole north is a shithole. Everyone's broke and incompetent and trying to rip you off. The standards for everything are as low as Saigon a decade ago and they don't seem to notice they're being left behind. Nationalism is good but in Hanoi they would rather go hungry than embrace a good idea from anywhere but their quarantine zone.

HCMC vs Bangkok?
I wanted to do the digital nomad thing from Bangkok but need to get a TEFL job while I figure out how to best make money online, and it looks like teaching in Vietnam is better for me as there's more demand and hours are lower, while still being able to earn enough to live and save a bit
I assumed BKK would mog HCMC and it still does in terms of infrastructure, cleanliness etc, but I was surprised at how much there is in HCMC that interests me. There's definitely enough there for me to build a life for myself if I wanted to
Anyone lived in both?

Yeah you can still live in BKK for under $1000 relatively comfy (I don't have subscriptions and don't drink, don't eat out though to my costs are gonna be much lower than a lot of people's) even though everyone on Youtube is yapping about how it's not a budget destination anymore
Saigon looks like it has way lower teaching hours on average though

There's a few Hostels I like and they have a rooftop area that nobody seems to go so I can chill by myself for a few hours. 4 people to a room.
Street food or nearby restaurants. Sure the food is basic but 30-80 baht is cheap for a meal.
Catch the BTS / Metro everywhere. Grab motorbike if you're desperate.
Beer prices are the biggest fuck unless you buy from 7/11.
Simcards and ATMs are the biggest Jews though.

From what I hear, Vietnam is still a lot more clean and orderly than India, though population density is on par with pajeetland. After years of putting it off, I'm determined to spend 90 days in VN next winter. After all this time in India, I doubt anything in Vietnam will be a challenge.

>the English teacher who f5s these threads for weeks until someone writes in Vietnamese so he can jump in with his been here two years local expertise
Good for you learning the language but when you're actually proficient the locals will stop complimenting you. Until then hold that shit closer to your chest. You'll look back on this phase of your expat life and cringe.

It's just one guy. He waits for someone to say anything about the local language and then breaks out his android language module like ACTURRARLY GUYS in giọng nam (southern dialect for you gaijin) the qu particle is pronounced like a w haha don't worry guys you'll get the hang of it
It annoys me cause I think I know him irl

Try going rural if you can't handle the impatient aggression of motorbike riders in the city. Anywhere you go in tropical Asia you will encounter motorbikes behaving poorly. It's something you'll just have to get used to and accept that you can't do anything about it.

>>2879342
You mean giọng miền nam. Giọng nam means male voice :)
Anyways you sound like a schizo. Notice the office interns flirting with the beginner Vietnamese white boy or something? Classic signs of a monolingual retard starting to build resentment.

>The vast majority of them are looking for sugar daddies or "rich men" to marry. Eviscerate any man that actually propositions them, especially if he is a foreigner, quoting impossible prices such as 20 million a month, when you know for a fact they would be happy with 1million. Eventually find some that are down on their luck enough or not automatically assuming prideful viet defense stance. Now have 3 college girls and 1 photographer girl in hanoi all eager to bang for less than 2m a meeting but goddamn it was like pulling teeth trying to find them, even ones dressed like absolute whores became defensive when telling them they could make so easy money.
I actually got one of those scammer girls from tinder to meet me a hotel instead once messaging her that rather than do the whole song and dance of luring a sap to an overpriced bar, she could just meet me at a hotel and earn more than all the time she spends doing that.
In thailand all it took was the initial message and everyone from teachers, 711 workers, to uni girls quickly texted back where to meet eager to make some extra cash. It's worth it though if in vietnam a long time since most of the local prostitues are absolute dead fish time wachters. saigon may be much easier but the north conservatism gives them a false bravado and defensiveness.
Just felt like talking about vietnam

There may not be many actual western expats in Vietnam now, everywhere I go I see pajeets, Africans, and Russian thugs, and Ukrainian femboys. Can't remember the last time I saw an American or even a British guy, seems like anyone not already established is getting squeezed out by cheaper workers. As for tourists, they probably don't have much to say other than marvel at 30k recycled pho.

We have plenty of those groups on 4chan, aside from Africans for some reason. We need more Africans. They're pretty good shitposters on /int/ when they do show up.

I live in Vietnam and post just fine everywhere I go. Thailand does have a ton of rangebans though, you're right. I always struggle when I go there.
