Now that Iran has agreed to stop chimping out, is this a good time for discount travel in a notoriously pricey destination? I'm seeing some hotel cheapies begging to get scooped

UAE is notoriously boring. It's literally just Arab Monaco.
Just go to Oman instead

Oman's flight connections are much more limited than the UAE's. But it does have far superior topography.

Winter is wrapping up, that's why future bookings will be cheap. Prices always droop in the hot months, because nobody goes out in the early morning, and there's only about one hour of evening daylight where it's semi-enjoyable to be outside before night falls. Nothing wrong with being out at night; the streets are brightly lit, restaurants are open 24 hours, and everything is 100% safe. But daylight is much better for landscape photography, what little there is in the UAE worth photographing.

The main interest there is the human interest, i.e. observing the differences in behavior across social strata and the nature of their interpersonal relationships as well. The Arabs are surly characters who take no shit. If you are white and poor, they treat you rather contemptuously.
