What's your favorite adaptation of his work?
Which unadapted work would you like to see as a movie or show?

Everyone talks about Electric Sheep, but this Brunner 'ovel deserves a cinematic adaptation.

The only chance of his work getting adapted as a series is through Apple TV which is an absolute motherfucking joke of a service.

Imagine if he was called Phillip Dick
Lol

scanner darkly was an interesting attempt, but book was just better

Truman Show (loose adaptation of Time out of Joint)

UBIK! Where the FUCK is UBIK! What's wrong with Hollywood, do they not recognize genius?
>>
>>219820041
>read Do Androids...
>it was alright
>look up other books of his to check out
>they are all about reality being an illusion in some way or another
I'm getting some slight hack vibes from this guy...

Imagine if he was named Richard Dick

Impossible to adapt. At most someone might make a spinoff story set in the initial world with precogs and litigious doors.

Blade Runner is my favourite film adapted from his work, but it's not a faithful adaptation.

If you want faithful + good, then A Scanner Darkly.

Screamers is cheap-looking crap and Minority Report and Total Recall are expensive-looking crap. I saw a bit of the TV High Castle thing and it looked crap but I didn't see much, to be fair. No idea what else there is.

Not sure what would work well, if anything. Most of his stories are just too incoherent to make good satisfying films, in my opinion. Flow My Tears might work OK.

The Broken Bubble might actually make a decent John Cassavetes-style no-budget domestic drama. If you had very good performers it could be good, but it's not what people usually think of when you say PKD.

>neverending scene of metaphysics rambling about perception of reality
suck a PKD moment

The Pre-Persons

>Dick imagines a future where the United States Congress has decided that abortion is legal until the soul enters the body. The specific instant is defined by the administration, at present the moment a person has the ability to perform simple algebraic calculations (around the age of 12).

I like that policy. We should do that.

his real name was Horselover Fat

A Scanner Darkly is legitimately one of the most hauntingly beautiful things I have ever seen and it is my favorite movie ever of all time.
>>
>>219821150
I should add, the book is really good too but reading-wise I prefer Three Stigmata.
>>
now you remember there was a Minority Report tv show
or was it?
>>
>>219820960
Yeah this was a mildly anti-abortion thing and PKD says the truly vicious hate mail he got from feminists over it was quite eye-opening.
>>
>>219820217
It's kino every time.
>>
I've read a fair number of PKD books. Tough to say what the best one to adapt would be...

(Apart from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, of course)

I think Martian Timeslip is a very good book. There's no action in it so audiences would have a tough time with it.

Dr. Bloodmoney was good. Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch was good.

Actually, I just remembered. Adapt The Chromium Fence into a movie. It's a short story so it would need to be adapted. Change the ending if you need to, just adapt it.

It would need to be altered, is what I meant to say

But 12 years old is when schooling has completely destroyed the soul.

There was also a Total Recall TV show. Though it was trying to be more Blade Runner than Total Recall.

A Scanner Darkly is the best and a masterpiece as it perfectly captured the feeling of PKD's work....

While the final scene and credits makes me cry......

Flow My Tears is an obvious candidate, they should've done it back in the 90's when they could've hired like Peter Steele for the job.
>>
>>219821200
The hell I do nigga.
>>
>>219824998
About 50% of Flow My Tears consists of the protag having fairly dull conversations with a series of fucked up women. There's the schizo, the slut who's aging out of her prime, and the incestuous bisexual dominatrix. And they all have so much to say about their personal disorders. I didn't like it much. It read like a bunch of therapy sessions with people couldn't be healed by therapy.

>>219825665
ah, now we've pegged the main man!
>>
>>219820041
A PROPER version of Man in the High Castle. Or Dr. Bloodmoney.
Dr. Bloodmoney would be soooo goood.
>>
The man in the high castle, Its such a shame they rushed the last season it was pure kino up until then.
>>
>>219820041
Total Recall, even though it has very little to do with Dick beyond the surface level is it a dream or not.
