Hello, anon. Thank you for this recommendation. I writed a review in my blogspot about "The Bay". Yes, it is in Portuguese, but you can use translate if you want read this thing.

That was my recommendation! I'm glad you liked it. I enjoyed your short review, and I agree that it is a standout amongst its genre. We need more isopod horror, preferably with a protagonist with a big fat ass too big for her pants.

We need more male character who is subjected to body horror mutation. The modern horror has been weirdly hyper fixated on females for some reason.

Low budget is usually where really talented people shine, as they make things really work with their limited budget. Big budgets just allow for laziness and wasting money on the wrong things.
For this dude, 3 total piles of shit doesn't have me feeling very confident.

>The modern horror has been weirdly hyper fixated on females for some reason.
It's much easier to find a cute girl to make the star of your movie than to find a good, charismatic male lead.
Plus, with body horror specifically, I think women are more affected by it and relate more to it, being more self conscious about their looks
>>
>>219829977
Or it's because women are generally perceived as beautiful and pure, so seeing them as monsters is jarring and interesting, versus some dude just looking like a monster which wasn't uncommon for the time because of being in wars.

>>219830039
> Plus, with body horror specifically, I think women are more affected by it and relate more to it, being more self conscious about their looks
Exactly. A movie about some bitch freaking out about aging? Any actress can play that role convincingly.

Yep it was kino.
I think I liked ParaNorman more because it had a tighter story, and was a bit more traditional with the ghosts and ghouls. But Coraline was best at the start where it seemed very dreamy, also very nice themesong.

It's from The Irishman where DeNiro is supposed to be a guy in his late 20s. That particular scene was done badly and had things like hits being out of sync and props breaking with no effort at all (the glass on a door smashes just from it being opened slowly).
https://youtu.be/XqGV0IuodWE?t=73
Just watch the door, you'll see. It's all downhill from there.

Weird, because most of classic body horror films have horrifying male character that got transformed. Female body horror is just so shallow, it is always about the self pity, woe is me and not about the loss of humanity or the lack of it.

Dunno about that but it reminds me of Together. A couple drank mysterious pagan water and got stuck together whenever they are close next to each other. In the end, they had sex and then fused into a hermaphrodite entity.
>>
>>
>>219831241
Yeah kinda, but obviously this one I'm thinking of ended far more grotesquely. It was part of some list from a thread discussing horror films that had bizarre sex scenes and that movie was the one I remembered most.

way better than first time i saw it as a teenager.
editing felt like a breath of fresh air.
modern films are just too happy making quick and short cuts, but here it just kinda lingers for a bit before cutting to a different angle or scene. especially noticeable in dialogue scenes, a more modern filmmaker would be cutting constantly between the actors as they respond to each other
