Can we agree on a best scene in these movies? We always shitpost about them but never discuss the parts we actually liked.

Having rewatched them recently without being in the mood I can safely say that only the 1st is a great movie, 2 and 3 are decent for the most part
>>
The first one is an all around great movie. It only starts going off the rails in the second one and the third one kinda shits the bed in part but manages to have a powerful conclusion.

It's gay

I always liked the beginning where Frodo and Gandalf meet. they share one bad joke and it's like you've known them forever.
>>
>>219825904
When Frodo finally falls into temptation and has a diabolical duel with Gollum only to be saved by Sam, this while there is the biggest war from the franchise all happening at the same time.

Why did RotK win all the oscars then? Are you just being contrarians for internet replies?

After the ents defeat Saruman when Merry and Pippin find his weed stash and the rest of the party find them eating and smoking weed

>Oscars
Because it was the conclusion of the trilogy and everyone was hyped for it. Still doesn't excuse Ghost Army fighting orcs, that's beyond retarded.

Ride of the Rohirrim
>>
>>219825972
Third would be great if not for the retarded ghost army. No idea what Peter hackson was thinking there

I'm White, I'm racist, but I still can't get into these movies. What am I doing wrong?

>best scene
Gandalf describing the white shores of Valinor to Pippin. In the entire trilogy that is the scene that seems the most "Tolkien".

The balrog fight in FOTR is a real tone setter
>>
>>219825904
The ride of the Rohirrim
Gandalf and the balrog on the bridge
Gandalf falling to the deepest depths of Middle-Earth with the balrog
Simbelmynë on Theodred's grave
Theoden's lament in the Hornburg
Eowyn & Theoden after the battle of Minas Tirith
The charge at the Black Gate
Sauron's defeat
Sam and Frodo on the erupting Mt. Doom!

my favorite part is when the screen turns off so I don't have to watch this shit anymore

This scene made my dad who was dying of cancer cry. Its hard for me to watch now.

Am I the only one that dislikes Fellowship? I can't stand the garbage pacing and it feels like a long boring set up for the much better plotlines in the sequels. Also no Gollum.

This, ride of the Rohirrim is objectively the best scene in the movies, and for me personally the most emotional

My subjective and 2nd favorite is
Gandalf and the horse riders arriving at Helms Deep.

Third favorite is the entire end sequence of Fellowship with the song Breaking of the Fellowship, fucking amazing the way it captures the overall series' blackpilled-yet-persevering-in-the-face-of-doom-anyway message.

Someone should just make a poll with multiple choices allowed, and we'll be able to see which are overall most voted.

I just don't watch any extended editions if I can avoid it

Aragorn resisting the Ring's temptation, letting Frodo go, and then facing off against the Uruk Hai.

That's been a common opinion for years. It's true too though.
>>
>>219827176
complete 180 from my own opinion of these movies. fellowship (theatrical) is the best paced and the only one which feels like a real movie.

Probably missing the spiritual aspect. It resonates on a different level if you're into european mythology, or at least still have strong enough roots to understand how euros have survived to present day. Better men than us have lived and died to ensure others can continue to live. No matter how cold the winter, spring comes eventually.

I CAN’T CARRY IT FOR YOU, BUT I CAN CARRY YOU!!

Gandalf arriving at Helm's Deep is my favorite. Second place is
>I can't carry it for you. But I can carry you.

>Shittiest
>floating Elrond head when Frodo is about to wake up
Does this even need to be said?

>>219827310
Yeah ngl I wrote a whole paragraph defending it as my #1 but in the end I just couldn't in good faith say it tops ride of the rohirrim.

Sam's monologue at the end of Two Towers
>>

That's interesting. I may watch these movies in a different way down the road.

All of Moria & Lothlorien. Especially EE of Lothlorien.

The Black Gate in TTT was really fucking cool for about 10 seconds until the cape shit kicked in.

The Simbelmeme mounds, mostly the sunset combined with the music

RotK, uhh...

The scenes with the music. I guess the EE Siege of Gondor with the Hell Music and the orc bodies piling up, I think it's right before Grond
