It's more headcannon/fantheory that she or Asteria put her soul into the cat because her body was breaking down after the Azamina went away, the breaking down isn't fantheory even the concept art points it out. We don't have official confirmation but the cat does match the magic colors of Risette so that's a better ending for her than just dying.

Hidden armory and lava golem were staples and both made it so you couldn't normal summon the turn you use them.
The new XYZ searches any equip from deck or gy, so you no longer need hidden armory; and Sanaki the purple kanko has a lot more utility (and consistency) when you're able to normal summon.

They also have a lot more options going first now, so lava golem is pretty much dead (along with hidden armory)

That's the default because Azamina Elzette is so good, but it's just a matter of what you open and your spell count versus monster count. You pretty much always want to go through both Elzettes and Silvy, Rciela and Diabell synchros, and both level 6 Azamina fusions. In ideal case you can get both level 8 Diabell maindecks and at least 1 trap.
