Not hating but where does the Yuri fascination come from with this series? I've only seen a couple episodes of the anime where it's mostly the main character being cringe and hanging out with her brother.
Where's the shift? I humbly request a QRD

The anime ends before it starts to become yuri, and before the series starts introducing characters that actually bounce off Tomoko, which i think is what the series does best. The anime is mostly just the writers putting Tomoko into cringe scenarios but the manga slowly shifts from Tomoko being a loner to becoming the center of a large circle of friends while staying her usual gross self.

The yuri starts around chapter ~70 where Tomoko goes on a field trip with Yuri, Yoshida, and Ucchi. Afterwards, Yuri becomes Tomokos best friend and often gets jealous regarding her; and Tomoko accidentally causes Ucchi to form an obsession over her which turns to a crush.

From then on, other characters are slowly introduced and given more screen time like Asuka (who also gets really possessive over Tomoko), and Mako develops a crush on Yoshida. The only downside is that for some fucking reason they've been giving her brother a ton of screentime recently and giving him his own harem

But one should also note that despite what anon said, at the end of the day there is no confirmed lesbian couple in the manga. It's all just baiting and baiting. There is currently only one truly confirmed lesbian in the cast, and she is treated as a joke. It didn't look like baiting at first, which is why /u/ became fascinated with the manga in the first place, but the authors went back on it.
Thus if you want to read this story just for potential /u/ content: Don't.
