there's this mystery subplot about Safi, Max's new BFF at the university who dies. I honestly don't remember much about it except HUGE SPOILERS Safi also has powers, she can shapeshift into other people.

To be fair having all your decisions matter in a predictive medium like a video game is absurdly difficult across multiple sequels that weren’t fully planned out from the very beginning.

That said this studio has still handled it incredibly poorly, even taking the inherent difficulties into account.

I mean this just straight up ignores the Bay ending timeline, so it makes all of Double Exposure's claims of honoring choices moot. This writing juggling act is unlikely to work.

I am in chapter 3 of DE right now and think Loretta would have been a decent sidekick to Max. In the first game we are with Chloe almost all the time. But in DE we are snooping around alone. And Safi and her mom are unlikeable bitches, i would shoot them myself.

Genuinely enjoying the game so far. Having Chloe back is a breath of fresh air. Never played BTS but switching between her and Max is fun. The plot so far is mid but OG Max and Chloe team more than make up for it. Compared to DE where the whole thing was a snoozefest

In the first game Safi loses a bit of her soul or self or whatever in Max and says it feels natural there and that she doesn't want to take it out. So that's pretty gay.

Beat the game, overall really enjoyed it. It was essentially a huge apology for DE

DE did irreparable damage to the series, and Reunion wasn't enough to fix it, but it tried damn hard. It actually managed to leave me with a sense of closure. The epilogue montage hit me right in the feels.

By far the best scene was Max and Chloe in the boat, Max trying to kiss Chloe, failing, rewinding to try again, failing AGAIN, then settling for holding her hand instead, and Chloe calling her out on her kiss atempts. Adorable with a fun bit of 4th wall leaning

Tip for new players: Choose the "Sacrifice Chloe" preset. I know, I know, we're all hardcore Bae shippers here, but I feel the game flows much better if Chloe's supposed to be dead.

It honestly makes the most sense to me. Max is someone who would save people and not be selfish, especially because Chloe wanted her to do it. But this game allows her to get her cake and eat it too, making the Bay ending much less annoying to pick. It really is just an extensive canon fixer fic!

I think it's nice to be able to tell people they can pick the ending where you sacrifice the yuri love interest and still get a happy yuri ending now. For that alone Reunion is actually pretty great.

Yeah, the pacing does drive me crazy. It's also much more yearning oriented than most fics I like, but this one just works for me.

And I'm typically more interested in post-canon stories. Fics that fit in between scenes can be good, but I'm just autistic enough to be annoyed by shit that doesn't fit the established story. I hate BTS because of that, I'm not forgiving a fanfic writer.

finally caught up. Starts out fluff, then PLOT happens, and now we are neck-deep in suffering goddamn. just get back together already

fic's good but suffers heavily from pacing issues. the beginning's so slow it almost made me drop it. The OC plot was handled a tad quick, but nobody really mourns an OC plot in a fic like this.

there's also too much smut. I'm not the biggest fan of smut to begin with, but when pacing's already this slow the smut just slows it down even more.
