what the actual fuck is that?
So if you don’t enable path tracing, assets look like they’re from the PS3 era, AND THERE ARE NO SHADOWS, EVEN CHARACTERS DON'T HAVE THEM, FUCKING PS1 GAMES HAD THEM.
This is a total embarrassment. Level of degradation is insane.
Fuck people who support this and buy this game to support such a scummy behavior.

It's only going to keep getting worse and worse. There are enough retards in this industry now who want to justify their cards and more than enough poojeets and retarded devs just plugging it in unreal or other engines

They used to make their games look good without any of this crap. I sold my 3090 build and just opted to buy an xbox rog ally and a switch 2. It doesn't matter. I just want to play games and this nonsense isn't going to stop

There are literally games from the 90s with better graphic design. Smelly jeet.

It's a very cherry picked shot. The cars don't look particularly good with PT either.

It wasn't, it blurry as it was run in 640p, it had tons of reflective surfaces that looked like shit with ssr. To "fix" this you should enable downsampling + rtx and get below 60fps. Also this crap had traversal stutters

SH2 Remake was like this too. Without ray tracing enabled the lighting was completely fucked. The interiors of buildings were way too dark since without RT there was basically no interior illumination. I hate the RT jew so fucking much. But OP pic is even worse since without path tracing it looks like shit.

I remember playing RE5 back in the day and being floored by how well that game ran. I did like requiem but it leaves me sour that I couldn't play with PT due to idiotically high computing demand and PT only worked well with DLSS set to ultra performance. I played at native res without PT instead.

Ray tracing and path tracing allows developers to be lazy, and offload the cost to the consumer.
Just stop supporting games that use this shit if you want it to go away.

Yes because the cattle who buys games are easily tricked by shiny big words like ray-tracing and path-tracing. They can't actually use their eyes and see that video game visuals are rapidly getting worse over time thanks to this fucking bullshit that requires copium like hallucinated framerates and frame reconstruction to reach somewhat passable output with smears, ghosting and high input latency.

Not to that degree, shadows are never free but having simple blob shadows doesn't implode your framerate if you've got anything even vaguely resembling modern hardware. Their settings not even giving you a blob shadow option really makes it look like Romeo's code is hanging together with string and gum or they're using some kind of raytracing for all their shadows. I guess Suda's studio being that incompetent isn't a complete stretch either though.

You wouldn't think the left looks bad if you never saw the right. It's just what comparisons do. They're not there to inform you. They're there to sell you the thing. Because without the comparison you wouldn't even know what you're missing out on, you feeble minded gamer.

Not possible without DLSS quality / performance and 2-3x FG.
Which introduces shit ton of artifacts. But even if you can cope with that added latency is painful. 60ms for a shooting gaming isn't playable.

This game's RT absolutely sucks.
It feels like turning on, DLSS 2.0 while the performance almost cuts in half. It's super noisy, especially floor. I genuinely thought there was something wrong with my GPU. Never seen a game looking this ass with RT.

Raytracing has been a scam since day 1. Absolutely destroy your performance and make the game look blurry as shit because you have to turn on DLSS for more frames just to sort of get back the type of lighting and shadows you got for free 20 years ago. I remember when mirrors and reflections in games just worked and most games had dynamic lighting that looked BETTER than this ray traced crap. Fucking N64 and Dreamcast games were able to do this shit. Every recent "advancement" in graphics for the past decade has only had the sole purpose of letting devs get away with putting in less work and it shows. Fuck deferred rendering.

Reminder that Dragons Dogma 1 was on MT and it ran like fucking ass on the 360, the target platform, and was crashzilla on the PS3.
Everyone loves to talk about how good the engine is like it's an innate thing while ignoring that the DMC4 aggressively optimized the living hell out of it because that style of game CANNOT have variable framerrates.

pc chads didn't get the game for years and even then yes the optimization issues are still there it's just that PC's in general around 2017 were far more powerful than a 2005 console so it could be brute forced.

Having good shadows without raytracing means having prebaked shadows however that then also means that you need two completely different sets of textures, one with baked shadows for "low" settings and then another set without that you then do the raytracing on. Having another complete set of high quality textures in your game purely to make "low" settings look a bit better isn't worth all the extra effort and disc space.

>>
>>
>>737081405
You see anon, making shadowmaps is hard work and takes time to bake for developer but free for you, whereas doing path tracing is free for the developer and you have to buy a new GPU, which is great for nVidia who sponsored the game.

retards.

no it's just the ps3 and 360 were toaster tier when DD1 released. almost all games were running at 22fps at that point while an el cheapo gpu like a 560ti or something would play the same games at 1080/60.
I had it on ps3 but didn't get far because its like 540p with black bars, runs at 20fps average and dips lower with screen tearing. when it released on pc I was playing it at 1080/120/max settings on a gtx 980.

Anon you're just agreeing with me.
A GTX 980 is an enormous upgrade over what a base PS3 or a 360 had. Like several thousand times better in compute power, and we're not even talking about CPUs.
If you need hardware that is 10 years of development better than your target hardware then either you are banking on some genuinely insane future proofing plan or it's just unoptimized.

>shitty raster
Crysis 3 came out before ray tracing in vidya was a thing and it looked stunning, and still looks better than most modern AAA games. Path tracing has horrible performance and the only reason it is usable in vidya is the fact that new render denoising methods were created.
>>
>>737112802
and many other games look stunning yeah but the point is, they would inevitably look better with a path traced renderer, no matter how hard they try in raster to account for everything they can't match pathtracing.

It is the same push as ray tracing had. Suddenly the "old" method looks worse than before. Better keep buying the new hardware...
>>
This was the point of the tech in the first place. To make making assets and lighting cheaper by masking it with raytracing and masking raytracing artifacts with DLSS. But games still take 7 years to be made and cost 70 dollars digitally.
