Reminder for Star Trek Online fags that today is the last day to grind the First Contact Event for free for 20 days to get T6 Noble Intel Battlecruiser. The daily is easy as shit since you're building a rocket for 5 min.

So anyway I've been playing Star Trek 25th Anniversary recently and even though it's quite enjoyable it absolutely suffers from some old adventure game interface fuckery. To stop myself going crazy I'll bring up a walkthrough after I've spent 15-20 minutes with no progress whatsoever and the first thing blocking me was the distinction of you as the player playing Kirk clicking use on an object and you as the player clicking on Kirk and using Kirk on object which is the kind of shit why I'll readily bring up walkthroughs. Other than that bitching, very good. I might have to go straight into Judgment Rites after this
PS: Oh yeah, I swear the ship combat feels even jankier than Wing Commander 1 but honestly I haven't replayed that in decades so that might not be right. I actually like the look of the bridge and ship sequences a lot though. The ground art's fine but the ship and space feels great for TOS
PPS: I am almost 100% certain the game's lack of a journal so you can just save your game after getting a briefing and then completely forget where the fuck you're supposed to go or what you're doing is PROBABLY why I never beat it back in the day. I vaguely remember ending up with a fucked save because of some missed notes

But yeah, like I was saying, I haven't played STO in a long time. I think I got a lifetime sub back in like 2009? I played it pretty consistently until the Romulans came out then got burned out on daily missions for rep. It's a pretty fun game though I wouldn't take it's end game seriously. It's good for playing with a friend or solo and rping as a Starfleet captain.

That 60,000 worth of zens you got there. People will kill for that much zen. Anyways, that fine that you can take a break and you can always come back at any time. If you do decide to comeback for the story, the storyline between New Romulus to the final chapter of the Gamma Quadrant (Home) is pretty okay. I personally love the New Frontier arc since you're playing Mentor for a new space race that just discovering space travel.

I'm finally getting around to beating BG3 right now, but I think STO is the next on my list. I probably won't get the noble, but as consolation I have always captained a noble class assault cruiser.

Yes. My original wasn't a kit bash. It was just a variant sovereign that was called Noble. They took that out completely and force changed my ship to this garbage.

I have zero experience with EvE. For STO, you just make a captain and the story plays off like that of a star trek episode. There are ground mission, which is bare boned to this day, but you could have up to 4 follower npcs with you in those story mission to support you via pew pew. Then there is space mission, which is flying a ship and kill shit in space. Its also fucking whale tier when it comes to getting the best stuff for the game. like 30 dollars just to get one Ship that might have something useful for your character. Most F2P players just do the annual campign, which is doing many events throughout the year, just so you could get 2 cash shop ship, one promo ship, and lobi crystal that should net you 1 ship or anything in the shop, for free if you bother doing this YEAR long event. Just play STO for the story, and events, and try not to in too deep into endgame.
>>
>>737089267
>>737089639
Also I suggest making a thread about EvE and just ask any anon if they play it. You might lean more towards that than STO.
>>
>>737089267
like the other dude said you play it like a Star Trek episode; you would benefit greatly from having watched a large chunk of pre-Kurtzman Trek as there are many references to events including ships, characters, species, existing events in the series and other callbacks but you don't need explicit knowledge of the series and most of it can be gleaned from playing as the game will usually offer enough storytelling or background through additional conversation options to get you through. It's a lot more arcade-y than EvE and even offers plug-and-play support with most controllers and has a dedicated 'third person shooter' mode that can be toggled with one key press.

Post-scarcity democratic socialism is not marxist communism, you braindead niggers
The Federation is neither stateless nor classless, the only significant aspect is that private property has become virtually obsolete given the existence of replicators and near-limitless energy reserves thanks to antimatter reactors

The episode of based around the Benkarans actually being discriminated against, so while the webm is funny on its own, if you actually add in the context of the episode, it's wrong and right wingers take a big L every time they use it unironically

Deep Space 9 isn't 100% FED, its far off into the other side of the galaxy, and other alien culture still use monetary exchange for their trade. Quark's alien race is nothing BUT business and making tons of money.

First - Didn't that cup come out of a replicator as an ad to begin with?
Second - Characters are shown to value real food when it's available (think Riker cooking those eggs). The non-perfect/non-uniformity of non replicated food must be sought after.

Some people feel like they can taste the different and why Sisko's restaurant is still in business.

Temporal Cold War was a mistake. The Xindi and Suliban should've been manipulated by Romulans instead of time travelers. Perfect setup for the Earth-Romulan War.

this is the episode where the Benkaran takes advantage of Neelix and begs him to let him send a final message to his family when in reality it's a coded message to their dirty thieving Benkaran brethren that allows them to attack and momentarily disable Voyager. Then the poor, sweet Benkaran Engineer-in-Training that tricked Neelix takes the Warden of their escort detail hostage. It's irony, because the other dude who blatantly killed people in cold blood and felt nothing because of an issue with his brain ended up getting healed by Borg nanoprobes is the one who steps in to save the day. He expresses remorse for his actions and even apologizes to his victims' family but is still sentenced to die and being transported to his ultimate fate courtesy of Voyager by the end of the episode.

They don't. They remaster them, removing the old models in the process. Pic related is a comparison of the original and remastered ShiKahr class ship. Originally designed as a "modern" Starfleet ship that entered service around the time STO takes place, it was reimagined into a ship from TNG's era.
They usually do this when they release a new variant of the ship, but not always. Sometimes they just want to remove an old design they feel is too ugly and not up to the current standard and look of the rest of the game.
In the Noble's case, it got an upgraded version in the current event, that upgraded version has a "rollbar" that bridges the nacelles. You can see it in OP's image.

Lol. Unless its the Pahvan set or the vovin from two years ago, or you're desperately need to buy out the final points for the annual campaign event, buying it out is just whale tier.

A fuckton. you either spend an entire year doing annual event that will get you 3 meta tier ship, do the klingon recruitment event that happen once a year for the Withering Barrage, and pray the event ship in summer and christmas has meta trait/console, or just spend thousands of $$$. Most players just do story and event and that it.

MAybe they made the space combat just as bad, but why would you destroy the only enjoyable thing in the game besides the setting?

Content difficulty is a decade behind. Ships, traits, and consoles aren't. Even the most basic stuff or set up (Isomag or locators with your favorite damage type and beam/cannon) trivialize those content. People can run their waifu ship and run it just fine in any content. Event TFO are stuck in normal difficulty and that is what 99% of the playerbase are dealing with. the 1% are the minmaxers that you see in the second link that does Elite content for fun.
