It is good, given you only and to play games. For everything else you'd be better off with a regular distro like Ubuntu/Fedora.
Now, if you're a serious power user with and degree of computer knowledge, you should go with CachyOS. It's currently the best distro for gaming and general purpose, its only downside is that it's Arch-based, but that's subjective.

Bazzite is alright for what it is. It takes a lot of effort out from the user. It is one of the few "install and go" OS there are.
Of course it has disadvantages and shortcomings but that's the case with everything Linux.
But if you want something to play games with that isn't windows, bazzite is good for that.

Not the lead dev, the kernel maintainer. It was more complex than "troons canceling a bigot" or "dev being too based" but in the end the guy seemed to be a pain to work with, even if he was indeed based and skilled. That's why the devs started the whole "open gaming collective" stuff. Which many may say is just bullshit to get a new kernel maintainer (and it might) but I hope the initiative takes flight, it's only a good thing if many devs come together to establish standards and gather attention from media/manufacturers.

No and never will be. SteamOS is just Arch+KDE with its kernel/drivers tailor made for the Deck's hardware, and whatever other hardware Valve controls. They'll never release it to the public because they can't guarantee it'll work with your hardware configuration.
Just install Bazzite or CachyOS if you want something like the steamOS for general hardware.

The fact that there are so many different options in linux is LITERALLY not only by design but the best thing about it. Im sorry you aren't smart enough to think for yourself and need to be told everything at all times but im a literal retard and somehow i still managed to fiddle around enough with linux to decide that i prefer the look and feel of KDE over other desktop environments, and that i prefer security over more software so i went with fedora over arch. Theres only 3 real cores of Linux and everything is built off of them. Arch, Debian, and Fedora, and 99% of distros are built from these. They're all mostly compatible with each other. I cannot comprehend the meme of recommending arch based rolling release distros like CachyOS to newcomers. The only reason SteamOS can make arch work is because Valve personally curates the updates and turns it into a pseudo fixed point release distro. Normalfags will "break" (from their perspective) their system with pacman when they don't keep up to date or they'll end up encountering a bug in the bleeding edge release of the kernel / some module when they do keep up to date. Then they'll completely fail to understand btrfs rollbacks and will probably break their system even more when they attempt to fix it. Thanks to distrobox, you can do pretty much anything on Bazzite that you could on a normal non-atomic distro. Not that you'll ever need to use distrobox if all you want to do is game.
