I wouldn't call Genshin an autobattler,
it has plenty of engaging features, it's just shitty and poorly balanced - ironically, WuWa has it even worse - they lack team synergy like elemental reactions, but instead double down on the autistic DPS meta that genshin sort of tried to avoid but failed miserably

Both games are just BIG NUMBER GO UP simulators, where the only real skill is dodging bosses.
Everything else can be bruteforced with BIG PERCENTAGE stacking, and then watching an already stupidly imbalanced number get doubled, tripled or even quadrupled thanks to a crit, buff and an elemental reaction

Gacha format is by definition going to be nothing but powercreep and ever more complex characters, yet even with all their best complexity, they all fall in to the same shitty pitfall of percentage stacking.

One of the reasons why MMO:s are so dead now is because they always do that too,
EVERYTHING is about gear
Guild Wars 2 is like one of the only MMO:s where gear stops mattering as much as build and skill, but even that game is ruined by shit like overpowered buffs (from skill, but also items, food & other)
