Disagree. It could be just as good as the weakest FromSouls game if the weapon balance weren't so abominable but even after showering the game with updates including full-game revisions they still have no idea how to balance the weaponry of the game.
I actually have a lot of gripes with this one and the uncertain flip-flopping of its patches but having so many of the weapons be completely useless is definitely the big thing that holds it back and keeps me from ever replaying this one.

I mean, the same is true for every Souls game as well, save maybe DS1 due to its generally smaller weapon roster. But all the others? Very few truly unique movesets, a ton of weapons that are basically the same but with worse scaling.

It's true to an extent but I find even the worst weapons among the proper Souls titles to be viable or lock down some niche, no matter how arbitrary.
LOTF is just full of duds that serve no purpose and would make for a challenge run on an optimized build, and even things that look like a hyper specialized weapon with some insane req/scaling/element/ailment combo often end up being comically worse than some basic weapon in the same class. It doesn't help that so many of them are packed into the very last zone of the game. That's made even worse by the rarity of the material for the highest upgrade stage effectively pushing them off as NG+ experiments. The bad weapons in Dark Souls are unimpressive and curious but the bad weapons in LOTF are plentiful and TERRIBLE.

Not even holding the lamp, the only place in the game that doesn't let you proceed further in Umbral is the tutorial where a path is blocked until you return to the neutral state. So it's a completely fucking pointless mechanic, you will literally miss out on items and quests and you won't solve any of the environmental "puzzles" if you aren't in the otherworld for 99% of the time but you get to die one time for free in combat and that's it. A complete waste of time, I wouldn't bother downloading this shit for freei paid 10 bucks lol

10 fucking enemies rushing at me at once while also being able to two-shot me? They're all instantly aggroed. You either run past them (which is trivial with light load) or you spam throwables from far away for pretty much no reward. One of the first thing they patched into the game is reduced enemy count, I guess for a reason.

They specifically patched the amount of mobs that were spawning in mid-late Umbral timer because shitters didn't understand you weren't supposed to be staying in Umbral until the timer capped out for "free"

Oh yeah, that timer was also a huge pain in the ass, completely pointless time-waster much like the rest of the lamp-related mechanics. Shame they didn't patch enemy variety or fun gameplay in after the launch too lol!
