I played the first mission and found the gameplay to be very underwhelming…. Is this just for people who like over bloated slop with lots of “mechanics”?

Do you mean the tutorial or the plaza mission?
>>737102338
Very shallow.

Its an extremly slow story driven start
It honestly takes a while to get "good" where they finally let you off the leash and have activities to do.
Its one of the main reasons i've never gone back for a 2nd playthrough, the first couple hours are shit

Your opinion that Im shallow is very shallow. Im interested in more than just mindless shooting, but for a game that one must assume a significant portion of it will be spent shooting at things, the physics of it should feel fun and powerful (esp given the futuristic setting) not dinky.

Eh I liked the Konpeki plaza job

That would be my real advice to someone looking at starting the game, just do story for a bit even after the open world starts, it gets you invested and then later you can engage with the open world if you feel like it

I just platted this a week ago. I will say, it took a while for it to click but when it did it gets fun as fuck. The best part is honestly the gameplay/choices. The creative freedom that you have to choose how you go about a mission is amazing.
Want to go in guns blazing? You can. Want to snipe people from afar and clear out the place without getting your hands dirty? You can. Want to run around with a bat or sword and pummel and slash and gash people? You can. Want to play stealth and just slowly take people out one by one? You can. Want to go full Watch Dogs and just hack everything to shit? You can. Want to play pacifist, get in, grab/hack/steal whatever you need, then get out like a fucking ghost without ever alerting someone? You can.
Literally the best part of the game was casing out the place for your gigs/missions, finding an alternate route and getting in and out without even being detected a single time. There was a gig where you need to steal a shard from some funeral home and that shit was fun climbing onto the roof, breaking in and getting the shard from the body without making a peep.
The only tip I'd say is make sure you max out Technical. You can choose whatever else you want but you want to be able to hack/go full netrunner in a game like Cyberpunk.

Welcome to one of the most overrated games of the 2020s.
I have a theory that deep down normalfags dont actually like video games. They just want interactive movies with minimal braindead gameplay.

Is CP77 overrated? It was received poorly, its reputation might have improved but I wouldn't call it overrated, nobody treats it as a great game. As someone who loved Witcher 3 I thought CP77 was okay but negligible.

Unironically the first mission (minus the lifepath part) is the worst section of the whole game. It's so clunky and has a hundred tutorials. Get past Konpeki Plaza, but explore Watson and do some side gigs and cyberpsychos, and it'll get into a proper flow.

After the tie-in anime released normgroids suddenly decided the game itself is engoodened because they reworked perk trees from "broken OP & broken, not working whatsoever" to numberpumping mediocrity" that never develops because of global level scaling.
But you have hype and aura moments with slow motion implant.

don't do sidegigs and cyberpsychos, they are a huge waste of time
>>737103805
anons kept saying the DLC is better than the mains story and i got goyopped into buying it

>don't do sidegigs and cyberpsychos, they are a huge waste of time
This is probably bait, but why would you play the game but then...not play half of the game? The side stuff gives a lot of context about the world you're in, humanises Johnny a lot more, and can link back to your chosen lifepath.

The romancable character's storylines for sure, but the Lizzy Wizzy one has a connection with the dlc, the Peralez' questline, Rogue's questline and gigs that you get that pertain to the Samurai members and culminates in opening up a certain ending in Arasaka Tower, Nancy's sidequest that sends on a wild goose chase around the city.
Padre's gigs and the ones in Watson each have an overarching, albeit smaller, storyline.
I haven't played in a few months so I am missing others but my point is that just doing the main story is gimping your own enjoyment if you have any interest in the city at all.

i had to look it up to get the terminology right. there are
side jobs (ok and important)
minor jobs (mostly ok but seem like filler more often than not)
gigs (mostly a waste of time)
minor activities (waste of time)

I would put the NCPD radio as minor, they really are only if you're hard up for money (which is impossible honestly).
Gigs are alright. No huge commitment for most of them, but good for testing out different playstyles and there being an overall small story for each fixer.
Not sure what you would class as minor jobs. Sinnerman? The shooting range and the shooting challenge in Rancho Colorado?

>minor
yeah that's stff like "Assault in Progress", "Reported Crime" etc.
>gigs
missions given to you by the 7 fixers. they seemed pretty boring to me
>minor jobs
those are the yellow exclamation marks on the map. shooting range, monk etc. they can be hit or miss

After completing it I have driven and walked around the city for 30+ hours. Over a year and a half. I just like what the level designers and the art designers and everyone else has done.
Haven't done anything like this with any other game, it is hard to explain why.

The city really is an amazing bit of work. I know you can't go into all the buildings but I love how they've got shitty little alleyways and backlots that you'd probably never see. It shows that they really gave a shit about it.

I agree. Cyberpunk isn't great, but still much better than that. Gunplay in Fallout always sucked to me, especially when I compared it to Stalker. The abundance of bullet sponges in Fallout is dreadful.

the gameplay takes a bit before it gets good and the gunplay is pretty mediocre. the game has really solid melee combat though
also one of the few games in general where throwing knives/weapons arent a complete fucking meme and are borderline overpowered
>>
nope its a game for plebs, its solely praised for its cutscenes and all gameplay elements are trash
they didnt fix anything and even made most things worse with the patches. the sole reason people shill this trash is because of a pedo cartoon character and the cutscenes
actual gameplay was made worse with patches, stamina being your "Ammunition" the hacking skill tree was utterly ruined, and all gameplay got level scaled so you have to have 20 strength to open a door or move a box
