I played Daggerfall for the first time back in 2011 when Bethesda decided to release this game and Arena for free, and even by then, I was impressed with the game.

They got rid of levitation and jump spells for level design purposes, but climbing would work perfectly, and would even synergize extremely well with skyrim's perk system if they split up climbable materials into different tiers
