The Hunters are actually great and they taught us all the true meaning of survival horror.
The first time you play, you don't save your ammo the way you should and kill a ton of zombies, and when told to go back there you go "oh, ok I cleared the mansion of zombies so that'll be easy." The fastest enemy you've seen were dogs so far and when you enter the mansion and suddenly see that POV shot of the Hunter running through your path back to the mansion and OPENING DOORS to get to you... it was one of the moments I will never forget, especially because I ran away only to find Hunters everywhere else without any shotgun ammo left to deal with them.
I had to restart the entire game, and I loved it. They taught me my mistakes.

>beat the OG trilogy on PS1 when I was 10yo + ESL
>had fun, replayed them religiously
>fast forward 30 years into future, and the self-proclaimed zoomer "adults" are getting filtered
Can't make this shit up.
Many such cases.

No, that's how (You) played.
I popped all the Zeds and dogs with a pistol, and had tons of GL and Magnum shots because of this. The Hunters still make my ass squeeze because of their 1-shot leap attack.

You can't get the Magnum in RE1 until the Hunters show up. You need the Helmet key that Wesker gives you after you kill Plant 42.
Why do people feel the need to lie on the internet, especially on an Anonymous imageboard?

Now that you said it, you are correct.
But I'm pretty sure you start getting Magnum ammo pickups way earlier. Not to mention the Tiger statue itself is just a few rooms away.
The GL+ Acid rounds still one shot the Hunties on regular mode. I think it was 2 shots on Arranged.

Partly because RE2 and up started doing clear, separated difficulty selections + provided more unlockable bonuses, including game modes.
RE3 even implemented a dynamic loot, enemy mob and puzzle solution randomizer element + alternative routes into the main campaign.
RE:DC's Arranged mode, like the whole game really, was kind of an apology for the RE2 taking so long. It wasn't until many years later, when the Randomizer boom started online, that people started praising the Arranged on a whole new level.
Fun fact: the N64 port of RE2 has a built-in Randomizer.

>Had no issues with hunters because I didn't waste grenade shells on shit like normal zombies like a dumbass, and you can get a magnum that oneshots them, even the shotgun is 'okay' against them
>Just switched what guns I was carrying to accommodate tougher enemies
How the hell do you get filtered by hunters. They're neat

Did anyone here who played the classic ps1 games for the first time as an adult find them scary on the first playthrough?
I enjoy the atmosphere and the horror vibes but never actually got scared.
I'm usually a huge pussy when it comes to horror but I guess I've just been overexposed to RE games.
Silent hill 1 is still to spooky for me so its not just the old graphics.

Just use the magnum on them. Skill issue.
