Rex and Monarch being the same guy was a crazy twist though

You're a slave to the Ace Combat series. Even after Assault Horizon, you fight against the only series that can guarantee a future for combat flight simulators.

all of them

I played this I finished and loved Project Wingman and dropped it, it was shit

Ace Combat is a AAA title with a big budget and a big team, Project Wingman is a small budget and a small team what the fuck do you expect

I wasn't much into it until Cold War. That sold me on the game, desu. It also helped quench my thirst for a new Ace Combat game.

VR makes this game

I'm not fighting it, just didn't care about it.

True, it's well made for an indie. I just thought it was be more like AC.

PREDICTABLE

>hey dwarf fortress is kind of enjoyable for me, even in roguelike mode.

I cant get over how hard anything rapes you in that game. Got tired after a few playthrough even with the RPG mode active.

My first and last dip into this IP

he's resetting this twisted game

This but also Ace Combat. I thought since I liked those open Star Fox missions a lot that a more advanced version of that would be awesome but I've bounced off of AC many times now.

every time I pick this game up I remember how lacking the attack aircraft are and how infinite flares or doing 270 degree turns on a dime trivializes any attack runs

>I just thought it was be more like ace combat
What exactly does this mean?

Wasn't there an older version of this that was better on older hardware? The one I got wound up beiong impossible to run.

Maybe if they keep updating it at some point I'll end up trying it again and liking it but what was there at launch was very disappointing.

>indie release completely mogs the AAA title it was inspired by
MANY such cases

I like it but playing through after the first time some of the big boss fights sort of sour it
when you first play it presents itself as a return to older ace combat games where the flight model is more restrictive to your capabilities so you can't just brake and turn for 3 seconds to solve every problem but then it just feels like it randomly jumps into touhou at a few points that feel out of left field almost like I'm playing someone's spectacle mod version of the game
I still appreciate it for making actual ground attack more viable and a focus for some missions as well as the gun mechanics in general but I don't think I'll ever be amped to get to a boss level the way you are in the good ac climaxes purely because of the gameplay aspects of them in pw

I think when the DLC was released on PC, there was an update at the same time that altered the clouds in-game but also fucked the performance

It seemed like the sort of game I would enjoy, but for some reason I found it pretty dull. The combat is nothing special, and while some of the environments have interesting aesthetics, the exploration wasn't very satisfying. I mostly found myself wishing I was playing something like King's Field, Shadow Tower, or Arx Fatalis instead. I still haven't tried any of the Dark Souls games.

I jist started Project Wingman recently, and haven't decided how I feel about it yet. So far it doesn't seem like it quite lives up to Ace Combat, but is still a decent enough imitation to be enjoyable.

For what it's worth, Suikoden 4 is easily the worst game in the series.
