The whole game only happened because one whore thought she was smart enough to scam two megacorps, a major gang, the fixer she approached with the contract and the mercs he hired.

Have you tried not being retarded?
She got hired by the Voodo Boys to help them steal the relic. She thought the plan was great so decided to copy it, but cut the Voodoo Boys out. In order to escape from all the people she scammed who are now trying to kill her after getting the relic, she would sell it to Netwatch who would put her in protective custody and she would get away with everything.
>>
>>
>>
>>737111546
That hacker gang contacted her and offered one gorillion euroburger coins if she managed to steal the relic from her sugar daddy (yes, the hackers are also retarded. It's CP77, everyone has brain damage).
The same hackers also fucked her brain with hacker magic while she was in doll mode at the Clouds because she failed to get the relic, so her brain turned off and she turned into a glorified onahole, and everyone loves onaholes so she was sold and kidnapped and obviously used multiple times.

The silliest thing about the whole heist situation is that Arasaka pinned Saburo's murder on V, Bug and Jackie and then didn't bother to go after V because he was just a tool in a greater scheme and let him continue to operate in the city without giving a fuck. This is a Megacorp who owns the world and Saburo was basically considered a living god; why in the fuck wouldn't they immediately tie up any loose ends and ice the person they say murdered him?
>>
>>737112815
Arasaka did not even want to find V lol. Yorinobu took over, if V was ever actually caught he would have to suicide him so word doesn't get out to the rest of the top brass about who really killed Saburo. It's why they did such a half-assed job going after him.
>>
>>737112815
they failed to stop us from stealing top girl at arasaka, their patrol vehicle, I passed that thing while arriving at the location goro messaged me
message, like a phone sms, I guess arasaka is too retarded to hack my phone baka baka
>>
>>737112953
Exactly. It would be in Yorinobu's best interest to find and kill V ASAP as the only one who knew what actually happened in the hotel room. No one would have raised an eyebrow at Yorinobu sending every Arasaka death squad available to locate and kill V after the Heist, easily played off as a grieving son wanting revenge for his slain father.
>>
>>
>>
>>737113164
No because they would have to drag V in for interrogation to find out who ordered the hit on Saburo. If V then just conveniently died it would be extremely sus for Yorinobu. The best solution was to just not find V.

This isn't well explained in game but Yorinobu changed his mind and pretended that he didn't know who killed his father, because it was more politically useful that way - he could act like maybe one of the other corps did it

Theory: Saburo is coming back.
The whole relic project was his baby, he tested it to perfection 70 years before the events of the game.
Yorinobu has a relic with Saburo on it.
You kill Yorinobu, starting the relic's process.
The Emperor is always multiple ply ahead.

There are some lines from Judy about how a doll implant is hard to use and only really top end escorts can handle them or something.
>>737111541
Yes, a plot hole IMO. The moment the heist failed, or at least when /v/ disappeared (to Evelyn), she should've fled Night City as fast as possible.
>>737112338
She's also a brainlet for thinking she'll scam Dex (which maybe she could get away with), the VDBs (which she could absolutely not get away with), and possibly you (the safest bet ironically, since you're just a jobber merc by that point).
>>737113173
Several characters have physical phones, but yeah, most calls are done through the holo.
>>
>>
>>
>>737110687
Nah the voodoo boys were always gonna fuck everything up and so would yorinobu and saburo.
Things would have been even worse if the heist didnt happen though, cause saburo would have the relic tech back intact without a protagonist there to keep it away from him. Yorinobu wouldn't have won the fight he started.
>>
>>737121349
In its original plan, I think /v/ was supposed to deliver the Relic to Dex, who would hold it until Evelyn brokered a deal with Netwatch. Then they'd all meet, hand over the Relic, get their eddies, and V gets his/her share some time later.
After the heist gets fucked up, Evelyn and Dex would've differed, with Evelyn probably trying to take V to a ripperdoc to get the Relic out and sell it herself, while Dex would just want V and Evelyn dead to distance himself and not get killed when Arasaka comes after everyone.
>>737121529
>the VDBs were always gonna fuck everything up
Yes, the moment Evelyn thought she was smarter than them, everyone tied up in the heist, excluding Dex probably, would just have mysterious 'net accidents' (VDB cooking them remotely). The entire VDB storyline you do in Pacifica is them just fucking you over repeatedly and then being surprised you made it out alive and pretending they didn't try to fuck you over. It's always morally correct to kill every single one of them.
>>
>>737120558
Consciousness is kept from start to finish of the transportation. If there's no break in consciousness then can you really say it was death? The corporal body may be different but the string of thought stays unbroken.
>>
>>
>>737121795
Dex certainly, because she even approaches you with the offer to do so right after the meeting at Judy's. I don't think she'd scam V, at least not before the heist went bad, but she definitely didn't give a fuck about Dex.
>>
I'm playing the game right now, just unlocked the DLC. This game cucks you out of opportunity for revenge so many times, but at least I was able to eventually behead every single VDB in Pacifica.
I kind of regret going Melee Blades + Throwing Weapons though. The latter on its own is fun enough that I don't need the former. What could I replace it with though?
>>
>>
>>
>>737122007
Throwing weapons are stealth mostly (for headshots), but you can turn them into a meme machine with a Sandevistan. I did a throwing weapons only build and it was so-so. Bladed melee + sandevistan is basically cheat mode, too.

I thought the plan to steal it and sell it to NetWatch was the initial plan.
What do the negroo boys want with it anyway?
Not like they would ever listen to rock music, anyway.
>>
>>
>>
Only reason VoodooNigs and Netwatched wanted the relic was because Johnny was on it and that he fucked one of the most important AI while she was still flesh. They don't know the truth and probably think it's bigger than that, I wonder how disapointed they would have been when either party noticed it's just some ai ex-lover that might get them to meet her once at best.
>>
>>737127751
I think the general plan with the Relic was this:
>VDBs know Johnny Silvehand's engram is on it
>VDBs know the Blackwall is cracking and it's only a matter of time before the rogue AIs spill out and fuck over everyone
>VDBs want to get on the 'good side' of the rogue AIs before this happens, so they want to talk to Alt Cunningham's engram (who lives on the other side of the Blackwall)
>VDBs need Johnny's engram to find Alt and make contact
And after that, the VDBs presumably think they can make a deal with Alt or get her protection/favor somehow, so they survive when the AI apocalypse happens.

It would be even more trivial for the most powerful man in the world to just quietly kill V without the rest of Arasaka ever finding out.
The real truth is that it's a plot hole due to the game being obviously chopped apart and stitched back together, reworked, rewritten, and changed direction and story who knows how many times.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>737120721
The inconsistency of Arasaka's ability to track people down bothers me. When the plot wants them to find you, they're the boogeyman and can find anyone, anytime
Meanwhile, V can just traipse into their HQ and massacre a few hundred of their employees and just take a bus out of town after buying a kid a million dollar guitar.

>>737129193
I believe it's because of this:
>the job the VDBs hire V to do (through talking with Hands) is to go into the GYM to neutralize the Netwatch asshole
>the Netwatch asshole has the VDB's subnet, called 'Rezo Agwae', locked down
>Maman Bridgitte (the VDB boss) is trapped in the VDB subnet (by the Netwatch guy) and can't talk or get out
>Placide, the VDB dickhead who hires you, has no idea about the Relic or anything (this is mentioned later by Maman Bridgitte herself)
>because Placide doesn't know about the Relic, he's content to send you on a suicide mission into the GIM because VDBs view everyone who isn't a VDB as disposable (this is the 'ranyon' comment about being a 'rag you throw away')
>but V does the GIM job and survives and gets to meet Maman Bridgitte
>Maman B realizes 'holy shit, the Relic is what we wanted and this retard has it' and that's why you do the cyberspace thing to let them get in touch with Alt
I always murder those VDB cocksuckers the moment I'm out of the ice bath, unless you side with the Netwatch guy, in which case I think Alt blows their heads up (the VDBs) when Netwatch springs their trap
>>
>>737130916
Partially. The whole 'muh impenetrable blackwall' thing is also a marketing meme from Netwatch to sell their services. The rogue AIs and whatevers on the other side are continually evolving and sneaking past/through the Blackwall already. It's just a matter of time before the dam breaks.
>>
>>737132943
Nothing about the Relic is consistent or makes any sense at all. In the Devil ending they say the Relic target body needs to be genetically compatible (parent-and-child level of compatible) for it to work, but Johnny has no problem taking over V's body who has no relation to him at all...unless V is somehow his secret grandkid or something equally as retarded as that.
>>
>>
>>737133856
Johnny('s engram) doesn't have a choice about taking over V because it's just something the Relic does automatically.
What happens in the Devil ending is Arasaka tries to disentangle Johnny from V (more or less what Alt does in the other endings), but with leaving V's body intact and safe from the Relic trying to overwrite it on a nano-cellular level. Arasaka can't manage to do it, so V has degradation and memory loss and whatever else, which is why Arasaka says 'Hey, you're dying anyway, so why not let us put you in Mikoshi as an engram?'
The Relic works for Saburo because Hanako kills Yorinobu, then puts in the Relic (with Saburo's engram). In V's case, the Relic starts the takeover process after Dex kills you (Robocop style), but then V wakes up and has the 'I'm losing my body to Johnny' storyline. The main fuckup seems to have been V putting the relic in his/her head while he/she was still alive, which I guess starts the takeover process, but minorly at first, and then it kicked into high gear once you get shot by Dex, and the Relic thinks 'Oh, the host body is dead. Time to really take this bitch over.'
>>
>>737134157
That's not what I meant. When Takemura (or Hellman, though I've never seen that one because who the fuck does Devil with dead Takemura) shows up, he tells V Hanako is willing to sign him for Secure Your Soul shit (where V's engram will eventually get uploaded to a Relic and inserted into someone's body) but it might be a while before he gets a compatible body, and when V asks why didn't Saburo have to wait, Takemura says it's because Yorinobu was genetically compatible with Saburo. But V didn't need to be genetically compatible with Johnny for the Relic to overwrite his body unlike Yorinobu with Saburo or V with his potential host body, so why is this compatibility aspect of the Relic that was never mentioned before (and will never be mentioned again anywhere else) suddenly introduced in the epilogue?

The relic would allow them to make contact with Alt because of her connection with Johnny, which is what you do when you go to see them. Everything actually makes more sense after you play Phantom Liberty because SoMi has exactly the power that the Voodoo Boys are after. She's the only character who can arbitrarily control all kinds of shit like you would imagine a super hacker should be able to. Netrunners basically always need boots on the ground to get the signal in to do their work but SoMi is basically omnipotent. Not to mention, the AIs that exist beyond the blackwall are incredibly powerful and could be used or copied or brokered with, similar to how the AI you uncover is able to heal you & SoMi.
>>
>>737134627
Oh, I see your point. The game kind of explains this in two ways:
>the version of the Relic in V's head is some early, experimental one
>V's circumstances (putting the relic in while living, then getting killed) are totally unique and not the way the Relic was designed to work
It's a little handwavy, I agree.
>>
>>
>>737134653
SoMi's Blackwall thing is only vaguely explained, but I think that's just her reaching beyond the black wall to let a rogue AI momentarily posses her (or something to that effect) that lets her do crazy hacking shit, kind of like the blackwall AI-infused special weapons/gear you can find in the Cynosure bunker.
The VDBs wanted to talk to Alt specifically (as an individual entity, not just 'whichever rogue AI would help us'), which is why they needed Johnny. The VDB goal is to make friends with as many things on the other side of the blackwall as possible so they don't get killed when the blackwall eventually collapses.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>737135806
Agreed. It would have been incredible to see her get raped and brutalized in graphic detail. This bitch was a literal whore by choice and she was used and abused so bad she no choice but to kill herself aftewards. I get hard just thinking about it.
>>
>>737135806
The entire Cynosure bunker ending is her begging and pleading for V to kill her. And she was someone at CDPR's waifu, because the game asks you half a dozen times 'You're SURE you don't want to kill her?' if you keep saying 'I'm not killing you.'
I always send her back to the glowies because fuck her, fuck them, and I hope the Blackwall breaks.

>The VDB goal is to make friends with as many things on the other side of the blackwall as possible so they don't get killed when the blackwall eventually collapses.

>>
>>

>>737136832
More or less. It's like the Jonkler line from TDK:
>I'm not crazy
>I'm just ahead of the curve
The Blackwall collapsing is an inevitability. Hell, rogue AIs were already brainwashing (literally) Night City VIPs in the base CP2077 game.
>>737136901
SoMi is both a victim and a victimizer. She's not innocent, and she lies to everyone in the DLC's story, especially V, and especially about the 'Oh yeah, there's definitely a cure for both of us. Trust me.' Fuck her. And fuck the NUSA.
>>
>>737137259
>She's not innocent, and she lies to everyone in the DLC's story
Lying as a last ditch attempt at self-preservation is basically the softest and most understandable version of it. Sure, she tricked V, and I guess the game wants me to be mad enough about this to hand her back to the glowies, but frankly I would've done the same and worse in her position.
Lying to all the other fucks in the DLC is morally correct.
>>
Speaking of the DLC, Dogtown is tiny, Reed made no efforts to hide, even working a regular job - how the fuck was Alex surprised to see him? They've been stuck there for what, almost a decade? They never ran into each other even once?
>>
>>737137880
Actually, and I just found this out the other day, Reed's 'bouncer job' isn't in Dogtown, it's in that dance club where a few of the game's concerts happen over the SW part of the main city area. (You can see him in game, but he's wearing a cap and sunglasses and his title is just 'Bouncer.')
Reed isn't living in Dogtown as far as I can tell. And there's also the 'it's a video game' element where Dogtown and Night City aren't exactly to scale; they're pared down versions of how big and sprawling those locations would be in real life.
>>
>>
>>737132943
Don't quote me on this, but johnny is stored as an engram inside mikoshi. The relic is originally created for saburo to transfer consciousness to a new body, perhaps yorinobu's. Yorinobu hates his father, wants to be a rebel, so he downloads Johnny silverhand to the relic, a terrorist that previously fucking nuked Arasaka, I assumed he was going to off himself by slotting it and letting Johnny take him over to fuck over his father's plans.
>>
>>737137604
Personally in Cyberpunk I made decisions based on who was loyal to V. Songbird lied to V more than any other character in the game, manipulated him and she never makes good on her promise to save him, in perhaps the most definitive way in an entire game full of people who make promises to help V they don't keep. That's if you ignore the general danger of being killed that Songbird exposed V to with no benefit to himself, solely because her hare-brained scheme went out of control. Reed and Myers on the other hand do make good on their promises, even if the ending is a Mass Effect shoot-the-Starchild "fuck you for asking for this on release, here you go faggot" type of ending. Imagine killing fucking Reed for this dumb bitch.

I think the 'how Johnny's engram got on the Relic' thing was because Netwatch approached Yorinobu and asked for it. Netwatch knew about Alt and wanted to use Johnny to get to her (same as the VDBs), and Yorinobu didn't know shit beyond 'hey, this will piss of my dad (Saburo), so sure'

>>737144705
It's a mercy killing in this case and something Songbird herself asks you to do repeatedly. The writer wanted her to be a tragic character and for V to give her closure by 'doing the right thing' and killing her so Myers/NUSA couldn't abuse her anymore.
But I hate Songbird, so I sent that bitch back to the NUSA to be exploited until the rogue AIs finally melt her brain.

This is obviously the correct answer. This is also the answer to all the other games and movies and tv shows where people go "why didn't the bad guys just do so and so..." the TRUE answer is, of course, bad writing. If your audience instinctively think "but why didn't the bad guy just do this and this..?" That means that your story isn't good enough and needs to be rewritten, so it makes more logical sense. Just look at all the hollykike movies where they don't care about these kinds of details, those movies all suck ass and are all terribly illogical and frustrating to watch.

No one with a functional brain would ever go through a star trek teleporter, since the teleporter obviously murders the original "material" and recreates a clone of it somewhere else. A portal? Sure, i can do portals, they are after all just gatways between places, your physical form isn't altered, it's like going through a door, but disintegrator-tier teleporters? Fuck that shit, the original you is obviously killed and reassembled somewhere else, why the hell would anyone with even half a brain accept this?

Often this is true (and in this case it is), but equally often people get way too autistic about this sort of shit. Sometimes plot holes are just plot holes, but very often "it just didn't occur to them at the time" is a perfectly valid answer to why a character didn't act 100% optimally. Especially if they were acting under pressure/under strong emotions/were in a hurry etc.

Because the latter is gradual enough to have a continuity of consciousness, while the former is implied to kill it and create a completely separate copy.
Unless you have a system of values that's basically completely alien to human mind or there are some extraordinary conditions present, why would you even give a shit that a copy of you gets sent somewhere to do stuff if the actual you (i.e. your consciousness) just fucking dies and never gets to do or experience anything ever again?
Unless the teleporter would somehow be able to also somehow transplant the old consciousness to the new body so that the original doesn't experience death, in that case I see no issue.

It absolutely does, you're the one doing mental gymnastics to pretend otherwise for sake of a stupid far-fetched argument. Of course continuing your current life and consciousness is fucking crucial to any sane human being and nobody would be okay with literally dying and never experiencing anything again just because they know some copy of them will continue to exist. Like I said, any other mindset is simply inhuman. And I don't even mean "worse" or "bad" by this. It wasn't out of desperation, at least not for the inciting incident with the Konpeki Plaza heist. V even describes that later as 'pure ambition.' What happens after, at least for V, is only about survival.

I think it's only if you have the DLC, or maybe they added that for everyone in one of the post DLC patches. Point is, if you went over to that club before the DLC got released, I doubt CDPR had Reed standing there, because it's very obviously Idris Elba and there's no way you could get around that.
