Honestly I'm forever floored by not being able to save VS games when that was a feature in the GBA version.
Nothing else matters, that alone makes it a downgrade.

The lack of pixel art is probably a Nintendo decision. River City Girls, Retrorealms, Mummy Demastered, and technically Shantae Advance are all relatively recent releases of WF’s that use pixel art. I’m sure someone at Nintendo probably said “what’s the point of remaking a GBA game to make it look like a slightly better GBA game? We could just put the damn thing on NSO and save a buck.”


The real question is why didn’t they use 2D vector animation for the units/map ala Half Genie Hero and Ducktales. I doubt it would’ve looked amazing, but it’d at least be consistent with the portraits.

How about remake DoR, a game that was very much unfinished when it was released instead of remaking the game everyone was very much finished.

I did, but all it was was another downgrade from the original.

Really the issue was that it wasn't purely 2D. Everyone bitching that the animations are bad or that the new art style sucks are fagots. The 3D models I guess didn't really look bad either objectively speaking but it's def a huge downgrade from 2D animations.
