Honestly kind of disappointed. I thought it was going to have a lot more modernized QoL and be pretty polished. Instead it's VERY buggy, crashing lots, balance seems very far off, and probably worst of all it's got horrendous gamebreaking balance issues (accuracy) that they just didn't see after supposedly a whole year in development.
I have very little hope.

You can play retail on repoop (kronos) and there's no paying for cubes but you instead have to grind for 30 hours per starforce. Pservers don't usually fix that either. They just make custom gear.

KPQ was always worse XP-wise than grinding. I know you're larping as someone who played maplestory back then but even with good luck allowing a group to continuously run the PQ as many times as they wanted, it was still slower than just grinding solo at the time.
Now that grinding is even better, there was even less of a reason to nerf it. Especially since any runs after the first run you do in Classic has a reduction of XP in addition to the nerfed XP.

Warrior bros, how are we building our toons? I keep flipping back and forth between high STR/low DEX and low STR/high DEX and it all feels like a wash. Also what about skill investment? Obviously we need to be maxing out Precise Strikes but not sure how to invest in the rest. Seems like we're missing out on HP we'd normally have since Max HP Increase was changed and the mobs we're stuck fighting aren't enough of a threat to warrant it. Slash Blast should be our bread n butter but it's too taxing on potion count it seems. Overall really struggling to not go negative on my pots:meso ratio.

Pserver's issue is more that they tend to focus on perfect scrolling or rebirthing which makes the grind something completely different but equally as bad. Computers weren't that expensive to upgrade to but the internet subscription prices were what seemed to make most people ignore it for a while and focus on TVs or sound systems at least when it came to my relatives and friends. The only people who really owned PCs were white collar workers who needed one at home for work.

My family lived off of Blue Light K-mart internet discs for a year or two and my dad only decided to actually buy internet in like 2003 or 2004. Most of my computer time was entirely on a Windows '98 or 2000 machine playing games locally while Runescape and Maplestory were only on library computers that wiped themselves after you shut them off which I'd constantly make excuses to my mom to drop me off under the pretense of "studying" which was a coin flip if I actually was.
When it came to my friends one of them had an XP one around 2002 without internet, a well off friend had a personal computer for each member of the household and internet around that same time period, and everyone else I knew only really got computers or internet in like 2002-2005.

Look maplestories technically like one of the more expensive games. So you’re not really playing like a cheap game, it’s probably a decent time, if you like the mmo shtick. These classic releases are often better than what the game devs turned the game into, they’re in like a pristine state before all the aids and predatory elements were added to retain subscribers. Shan’t be playing this one, although I’m lying if I said I wasn’t like slightly interested. It’s like the only mmo I never played to endgame. I’m just bored of MMOs in general, I like single player games more. Theyre higher skill cap without all the tards in the way.

No it’s actually just about the game. Games are all designed to be “press button and shooty thing goes out, then get the thing”. So how games go about this process is often perfected in its original design philosophy, which was why the game came to exist from the start. A guy had a big brain idea. But, these design elements face blights over time, and the original idea becomes tainted and perverted until it becomes totally unrecognizable. Game patches are actually a result of poverty. Same with expansions, they’re just reusing the same everything, and trying to make more money. And, you can’t fucking do that to the game and have its integrity stay in tact. The original game gets “included” in this new higher level content, but in a cheap way. And it just comes across terrible. The old games still there but it’s not even worth looking at. And this new game is literally the same exact thing but with higher numbers and new colored armor. So yeah, basically the classic version of the game is almost always the best version. Its the most well designed from start to finish, it has the best game balance possible, there’s nothing there that wasn’t intentionally put there for a reason.

It's hard to say without knowing the actual accuracy formula, but just the standard 3:2 for STR:DEX is good until you get ~35 - 40 DEX as a base. A lot of builds were done with the future in mind (aka equips and such, or 3rd job and above) and since Classic isn't very far, all you can really do is add DEX until you feel comfortable enough with your accuracy, or until you hit 40 since nothing should cost more than that DEX-wise.
