A lot of people on Owlcat discord are actually disappointed that it's not a xeno.
Some even saying they won't buy the DLC because of it. Why was Owlkek this tone deaf considering the community kept saying they want xenos over and over considering they've done multiple polls and actually delivered on changing DLC style for RT? It seems weird considering they were signaling that they were following community's wishes.

Space Marine 2 for an example has Cadians based on a version before their refresh for an example, despite releasing after it. I believe 4th dlc will be set directly after Cumrag. Because it really looks like this was an unfinished idea and was meant to be there anyway. In order to escape from Gomorrah you already need to ally yourself with some elf, either Yrliet, Marazhai or Nocturne so that's covered already.

Look, if this was Dark Heresy then sure you could argue for no xenos party members because muh Imperium but the Expanse is one of the most remote regions of Imperial space that in the tabletop campaigns is basically Imperial in name only and most planets only vaguely operate under the Imperial Creed. This is THE game to have xeno companions, but for some reason Owlcat decided to put kroot in Dark Heresy and have most RT companions be Imperial loyalists. It’s very backwards design.

As a xenos fan, I'd much rather just have a xenos focused game as opposed to just pushing xenos and humans interaction and co-operation in imperium focused games. Co-operation between humanity and xenos in 40k is supposed to be a rare exception to the general animosity and war between humanity and the other races of the galaxy.

A proper ork or eldar focused game would let you explore those races in greater detail anyways rather than what we would get out of some random companion in an rpg. I'd pay good money for an Eldar Corsair game for example.
