I've never gotten it to work but shouldn't Heirloom Hammer be decent here? Just copy a minion strike/dive bomb if you don't get any other awesome colorless cards. That's decent damage and more card draw,w which I feel like massively benefits your deck since you have no Glow.

As long as you're not trying to force Forge I don't see how he's that difficult at the moment.
Card Creation is easy to work now and Stars are still strong. If you luck into an early Block uncommon and stuff like Collission Course you're basically gravy.

Divinity was fine and perfectly playable.
Scrying was strong.
Stance dancing was strong.
If you want to count "retain" as an archetype, yeah, most of the cards were kind of bad but it's not the type of mechanic you built synergies around.
The weirdest part of the character were the rares.and their gimmicky meme archetypes like Alpha, Conjured blade and whatnot (pretty fun if you ask me), but just like Pressure points they're not archetypes on their own. More like single concentrated scaling on a single card that you have to solve if you want to play.

Lots of synergy with curses. Covet allowed him to exhaust curses and draw cards, so he could actually juggle them for damage, buffs, and whatevers else

There was one power that gave him one strength every time he received a debuff. His starter relic also gave him a card that put Vulnerable on everyone (including himself) and some strong block cards that also made him weak.
>Rugged
Unique buff that reduced the next instance of damage to two. Kinda redundant, but it had its uses.
I'd love to see him back as an official character for spire 2, he was one of the only good modded characters in StS1 besides downfall.

Snakebite is a decent card if you upgrade it. 10 poison for 2 mana is fine efficiency. Retain also let's you hold onto it until you find a turn where you can spend the mana and are not under as much pressure. It works best with bullet time as you can retain it until you draw bullet time to unload you hand, snake bite included. If they bumped up the poison to 8(11 or 12) people would like it more of course.

devour life aint doing shit with 4 grave wardens per 30 card cycle and his doom output is pretty low per cycle too.
even with history course, test subject would outscale your block in like three turns especially with no weakness. from full hp its probably consistent to get out alive here but to take so little damage i can only believe is due to lucky draw order and theres no way doom was primarily how he killed phase 1.

No he's right lmao. I did kill by doom every phase.
He reached like 11x8 on his second phase. It's more like I got all my powers early which was important because Haunt and Friendship did most of the work in the first phase. And yeah, I just had an extremely strong block deck that could outblock every attack ven in the firs tohase when I gave it a shit ton of strength.
That's just how the deck played for the entirety of Act 3 when I locked down the build.

Damn tear asunder is so good. I picked it a few times before but I didn't realize it was good enough to be your sole source of damage. Pretty much solves doormaker since you only need to use a single damage card after exhausting the rest of your shit. And it's especially good against test subject with his multihits just helping you kill him faster if he hits you.

How to really fix Doorman:
He no longer auto cycles between phases.
Instead he cycles if 4 cards have been played, if he has done at least one full cycle he will hide behind his door during his next turn (become immune) and buff himself with +5 strength (he no longer does other strength buffs).
This puts him in line with the other act 3 bosses that all have a downtime during their fights that allow you to setup and makes for more interesting turns since you can force him to switch phases early.

His exhausts are shit. His damage scaling has been gutted. Healing is retarded, Not yet is fucking retarded so I choose to not count it. Status builds were removed for some fuck off reason. Searing blow was removed. Barricade builds don't fucking work. The lack of energy relics seriously fuck him more than every other.

There's a relic that makes the enemy deal half damage if their Doom is equal or more than their HP. But typically, you wanna maximize your Block with Death's Door for Doom "builds". Also don't build pure Doom if you don't have that relic, you're gonna benefit more from Sleigh of Flesh to speed it all up.

Not quite, both can exhaust cards and especially statuses. Dive Bombs deal more damage but don't draw. Begone can be a bit draw order dependent, but same for Charge in some cases. Charge has a higher ceiling though because it works well with boss relics that give you statuses in exchange for power, since it can exhaust more cards. But generally Begone is just more accessible and you can have more than 1 copy, but Charge you usually just want 1.

i havent really hard people say its "too hard" necessarily but the game is actually too random for once, and its not a shitter opinion. ancients are way too far apart in power level to a really stupid degree, relics dont do enough to influence a run, almost all fights are just about big numbers so youre a lot more reliant on drawing block on the right turns, cards are either way too fucking good regardless of rarity because they fit into the broken archetypes (sly) or absolute dog shit, very little room for tiny tech cards.

STS2 also has the problem in that getting broken crazy runs is only achievable through Events and Ancients, almost no Relics themselves enable crazy runs which makes Elites nigh-worthless to bother with on most runs.
