I recently finished Summer's Heartbeat. Compared to Storytaco's earlier games I really enjoyed chapter 1-4 and thought they were great (Roring best girl), but then chapter 5 and the endings felt so rushed. The endings, both good and bad, were super short. It felt like a massive quality letdown compared to their earlier games.
Usually I enjoy Storytaco's games but Summer's Heartbeat ended up as a disappointment.

I've only done Fury and Chaesol's routes so far, but I agree with you. They either needed to shrink the cast down to 4 so each girl could get more time, or they have to stop forcing all these games to be 6 chapters long. It's unfortunate though because like you I was really enjoying it at the start.

It is my favorite game by Storytaco. The cast is small and introduced quickly, so the rest of the game is spent building up your relationships with the girls at a more natural rate. Aside from Ji-woo who is your childhood friend none of the girls instantly fall for you like I feel happens in a lot of these games. It also has a lot of silly bad endings for you to unlock along the way, so when I was replaying chapters to 100% them it felt like there was something fun to look forward to. Other games I've played have had minimal endings before the final chapters, so replays felt more tedious. DFMB had a few bad ends per chapter, and some of them are really amusing. If you've already bought it I'd suggest at least powering through 1 playthrough to see if you come around on the cast.

I actually think they need a proper chapter 6, like FHUOR 2 and HTML. It would give more time to spend with the characters while also giving chapter 5 more time to breath rather than trying to force so much into chapter 5.
But the endings are inexcusable. Their earlier games have as many characters or even more and still manage to give each character proper endings compared to the 5 second endings in Summer's Heartbeat.

Nao was super annoying at the start with how over the top she was, but she was toned down a bit in the second half. Surprisingly, despite the poor start she was the best person in the game. Or perhaps that just shows how bad the others are.

Nagi is just a testament that tsundere doesn't work outside of anime. She isn't cute, she's just an abuser.

Anon just ended up being weird. They couldn't balance the Chinese and Japanese speaking so at times it felt like she was screaming in Chinese more than she was actually speaking in Japanese. Poorly handled overall.

Ruka wasn't bad, but she didn't really shine it. She kinda felt like a normal boring girl.

Meira was mishandled from the start. Her introduction part is completely optional and if you miss it she randomly drunkenly appears and the story acts as if you know her already even though you've never met. She was also pretty boring.

There are far too many scenes where all five girls speaking at the same time and it always ends up in a screaming match. So much screaming throughout the game. Having five girls scream at the same time is so horrendous.
Overall I can not recommend the game whatsoever. It's pretty low quality.

I have already played it actually. I wasn't a super big fan of it sadly. The whole isekai thing was kind of ridiculous and didn't vibe with me at all (I got quite tired of constantly hearing the mc monologue about him getting a second chance), although it was cool that it wasn't just the mc who got isekai'd but also one of the girls. But I kind of disliked that the mc spoke so incredibly much, he would have incredibly long monologues.

As for the girls, I ended up liking the guy sidekick the best and was sad that there wasn't a romance route with him. He was really cool and a highlight of the game. I actually would say that I enjoyed Roommates Romances and Ringing more than Love Starts Again. RRR had a lot more humor going for it, even if some of that humor was way over the top.

I expected when the MC karate chopped the watermelon it would be cleanly sliced but it still got a chuckle out of me. It's okay. I agree with the guy from earlier in the thread that said it starts strong but falls apart towards the end. The first few chapters are pretty good. They give you some good time with each girl, and there are even some pretty good branches caused by your choices. But the second half feels like they are rushing everything. The two endings I've gotten so far have been incredibly barebones compared to the other Storytaco games I've played.

It's a shame because I like the cast and setting. I don't think every game needs a season 2 like Five Hearts Under One Roof, but I wouldn't mind Summer's Heartbeat getting one just because I feel the cast deserves better endings.

As you say, the reshoots are probably because it is a new game rather than something already released. The reception of the demo was quite negative so I think they feel the need to make adjustments in order to have the game sell.

I didn't find the demo too egregious, but it does have some poor parts. Compared to their previous games it doesn't hold the same quality sadly. At least they did listen to the feedback and are making adjustments. It was supposed to be released in January, so we are already at a three month delay without any notice of a new release date. Wouldn't surprise me if their new game Too Hot to Be True releases before it.

Since it is in the OP I decided to try out Enjoy Amoy & Sisters. It has to be the worst FMV I've ever had the experience to play, ended up refunding it due to the painful experience. I do not understand how it can have a positive rating on Steam.

There's only two girls, and they're both incredibly boring. Or rather, the story makes them incredibly boring because it is more occupied with showing off the city of Xiamen than caring about the girls. They're just a vehicle to keep your attention with their boobs out as they explain all the wonders of Xiamen. The real romance isn't with the girls but with the city.

Dialogue is incredibly bad and stilted, as if someone from the Xiamen tourist office wrote all the dialogue and forgot that there's supposed to be a story. In many cases it felt like they simply cut out all sound from the recording and then did voice overs in post production, even for the girls. It all sounds so stilted with no emotion whatsoever.

Ultimately this isn't a game, it is an ad for Xiamen that you have to pay to watch.

Finally finished Summer's Heartbeat and got all of the achievements. Dayeon has one of the worst endings in this game, and it was supposed to be the happy ending. Also it was annoying the the chapters didn't have progress bars for how much you've completed, instead the progress bars are only for key events.

I'd probably give it a 6/10. I liked the girls, but it felt they weren't given the endings they deserved. Also I accidentally bought the Photobook, so I figured I'd give it a look. There were a few questions asked of each girl which were kind of interesting. Like how Ella had to be rushed to the hospital for appendicitis in the middle of filming, and had to finish after getting released from the hospital.

Imo, Don't Fool Me Beauties is the best one from Storytaco. So, it's hard to recommend another. The only one on par with it is FHUOR2, but you need to play the first before.

I think Storytaco is making too many games. Summer's Heartbeat fell apart by the end, Beauties and the Stranded is a mess they had to indefinitely delay, they are already teasing a new game, and we know Five Hearts Under One Roof 3 is in the works. I feel like they are just rushing out as many as they can after they saw success with Five Hearts Under One Roof, but the quality of the games isn't improving, it is getting worse.

I think Storytaco has improved a lot since Five Hearts Under One Roof. All of their games improve on various aspects, including Summer's Heartbeat. Where Summer's Heartbeat fell apart was at the end but the rest is great and showing signs of improvement from previous games.
I don't think the endings for Summer's Heartbeat are an indication that they are working on too many things at the same time. At least I hope those endings were a one time thing and that in the future the endings will be more in line with their other games.
