From there, keeping the pendulums from being busted is a matter of card design, which has always been the case for everything and not just for [mechanic that didn't exist when I was a kid and therefore bad]. For starters, the times that pend decks were busted in TCG was because you could easily search the scales and swarm the field to use as materials for other cards. But there's no searching in Rush and the swarming ability isn't as impressive when everyone can normal summon an unlimited amount of times anyway. You also don't really need the extra monster zone. Those are needed for links. If they wanted pends to not be able to summon 3 monsters from the ED at once, they could make a new rule limiting it to 1. If they moved ritual monsters to the ED, there's no reason they can't slightly modify other mechanics as well. There's really no reason why pendulums couldn't work.

The fact that there's so many sub-archetypes as an excuse to give the collective hero archetype so much more support than everyone else downright feels like it's some sort of corrupt government agency. Especially due to the fact that there's multiple archetypes and solo cards based on superheroes (some of which predate the hero archetype) but only these specific ones are recognized as "heroes" and can use the hero support. At least in Rush they can't get away with that as easily, since Rush doesn't have archetypes so any support they make for them has to be either so generic that other warriors can use it too or so specific that not every single hero card will be able to use it. But it also feels like DL gives them a free pass for things that other decks aren't allowed to do. And I wish they at least gave them a reason to do anything other than Shining for game. No one even plays Clayman or Bubbleman, let alone their fusions.

There was an Extra Spice burn deck in the first year of RDL that was pretty good for like a couple of weeks before it got nerfed hard for daring to not be a beatdown deck. And the newest version has modern support and would probably be decently strong if not for the fact that the skill was nerfed on release and doesn't allow you to fusion summon more than once a turn, which is the main thing that the deck is designed to do, so you can imagine how well that works for it.
