>What is Ninjala?
Ninjala is a free-to-play arena brawler where you face off against other players using special weapons, skills, and green cum gained from magic Ninja Gum.
>Is there single player content?
Yes, but it's paid and there's not much. Ninjala is primarily a PvP game.
>Is Ninjala dead?
No, we are currently in maintenance mode and GungHo has enough money to keep things running indefinitely. Just keep hoping for Ninjala 2.

I think they might have reduced the number of pages on this board? 4chanX is already displaying the page number as red even though it's only on page 5, and it seems like there are less topics than there used to be in the catalog. Looks like page 5 or 6 is the limit now

Two-Edged Parry was a mistake, it kills Pop Eye's survivability too much. This feels much better. No Hyena might be better than Hyena since it's best to get another hit in before the bind too. Life Drain with no healing code but both defense codes is also putting in work, and actually gives the weak healing on the wide field some value since it keeps you below full HP unless you explicitly decide to heal to full. With NSP and GGM for energy, this feels like the sort of survivability Pop Eye should have

Not sure how an AltSP lab Drill and Slash lose a 2v1 against a Pop Eye with Full-Throttle Field. In any case, this build seems to be working. Ended up going with
>(SP) Ninja Sense Pro 1, Life Drain 23, Stealing Hyena 123, Giant Killer 3, Turnabout Guard 2
which basically trades GGM for extreme tankiness and strong offense. I am not as mobile and can't afford to gum boost much, but NSP seems good enough for keeping up energy as long as I can use my defensive moves to trade hits and stay on the offensive. Along with the Wide healing field, I can get nice passive HP and energy regen while staying below full HP. It doesn't fully remove the need for Special's healing, but it makes it less vital which means you can use it for attacks instead. Also, Stealing Hyena's speed boost and gum damage codes are perfect so I'm glad I made room for those. Webm related, that Back Special probably wouldn't have connected without Hyena 2 and the Laser wouldn't have 1-shot bound either
>>2064739
No idea, but since Shinobi Challenge is just free Battle Royale I think it's level? I have heard people mention time last played, but I haven't stopped playing long enough to know about that. In Ranked, it depends on rank rather than(?) level
>>
>>2064739
Do you mean ranked battles or THE shinobi challenge? The former I'm sure is related to your ranking though no clue how low is has to be, as for the later my understanding is that you are getting regular BR people so if it's follow the same ruleset then bots are likely related to your lvl. Can't be fully certain on it since unfortunately I long passed the threshold for bots when they decided to add them.
>>2064744
The way he used PB tells enough of his skills, I'm sure he is one of those who rely on AltSP for ez kills, being able to block it with Golden march was nice.

Yes for ranked death match on LOWER ninja ranks the empty slots will be filled with bots. For Shinobi Challenge i have no idea what the condition for bots is. Thats why i asked. Because i cant get Shinobi Challenge matches to happen any longer. Nobody joins these.
>>
>>2066208
Shinobi Challenge is dead because it's Free Battle Royale, which nobody plays anymore because it's a big clusterfuck that goes out of its way to punish you for engaging with anyone. You're probably not going to be able to complete any more Shinobi Challenges at this point unless you happen to find a time of day that's more populated. Once the bots are gone, you're not getting them back unless that thing about not playing for a while is true

Does anyone know which exact fishing rod you need for artic char? So far its been snapping my bahamut and demon rod lines.
>>
>>
>>
>>2073752
Might need to follow its movement with the stick too, I dunno. You probably have the right rod with bahamut, but need a different technique for it. That or there's some trick like using gear that tires it out more easily or something. I looked around, but I didn't see anyone else talking about that specific fish
>>
>>2073775
I noticed some fish will snap my bahamut line every time. That same fish can be caught with gumchi rod easily. So its all probably rod dependent. Which makes a lot of sense because gung ho wants to make money from microtransactions.
>>
Team Battle tournament in a few hours. Unfortunately I'll be playing some of it because I have a tier 100 mission for TB
>>2073865
I wouldn't put it past them. Let us know if you do find a rod that works better, I'm curious

It is really impressive how complex they made a fishing minigame inside of the game. It'd be the most comprehensive fishing minigame I have ever seen if it hadn't been immediately ruined by the P2W.
P2W fishing minigame, outrageous.
>>
>>2075099
It would probably be easier to sell Ninjala as a fishing game at this point, honestly. The main modes are all full of fishermen anyway with all the kill stealing and such. Either way, they spent way too much dev time on a single player activity in a multiplayer lobby. Doesn't get more old japanese businessman than taking like a year? half a year? to add a fishing minigame and then making it P2W. Truly a GungHo quality decision
>if it hadn't been immediately ruined by the P2W
Now that I think about it, is there anything in this game that GungHo didn't go out of their way to ruin?

Just to be sure, there's no reindeer suit right? feels like a missed opportunity.
>blue coins are a scarce resource now
I mean we got plenty time to hoard and not many reasons to spend in the long run thanks to their delay on some red gachas, still you can still get some with logins rewards, featured battles and I think some other play team/battle matches that seems to repeat itself.
Giving more though on the idea of a Santa squad you can technically all be different all you need is Santa(male), S.Dress(female), Santa(female) and S.Dress(male).

That fan had Wall Shooter on Kunai despite the weapon being too slow to get onto walls and Kunai not needing the extra gum damage unless you're using Magnum. I guess you don't need to think about cards much when you have enough drugs to survive anything

Sweet Ride is still 100% broken for droning, but yeah it's not that useful in a fight unless your opponent doesn't know how to deal with it. Mainly just dodging around being unhittable and taking advantage of opportunities to sneak in an NA or BA is the way to go. If they're guarding then you have to risk a Break, if they can catch you then you need to switch to guarding and use Sweet Ride with two tricks (big weapon only) to speed up your kill times after you do your gumbind combo. It works but it's not ideal. If Break had armor during Sweet Ride then it'd at least have some decisive power in fights, but it's pretty much just for droning these days unless you force it

They released it with only two maps and two modes, plus no tutorial. It didn't have a chance. Very clearly rushed out by poor management before it was ready and then shot in the foot again after it spent two years improving from that sorry state by the same incompetent management forcing P2W on everyone. Neat, if the opponent dodges Bird Drill's BAs while a volley of Balloons is chasing them then that can lead to a guaranteed guard break. Need to try going for this more since Bird Drill doesn't have many options in face-to-face fights aside from its guard break setups. Very needy weapon since Balloons are so unreliable. MoC to bind with AltSP or Break, Hyena and Wall Shooter to let Balloon bind more easily, Iron Bind because it's extremely painful to use any Drill without it, and Giant Killer to pick up IPPONs when you can't bind; which will happen often since everything relies on its setups and binding mid-combo with the Hyena Balloon shotgun can also be unreliable if your position is bad.

Honestly, I've thought about trying it again, but from how this thread makes it sound, it's too dead a lot of the time and I'd bet I'd just get curb stomped anyways. A shame the single player content was just kind of there (and cost money)

Could somebody knowledgeable explain how guard breaks work in Ninjala?
On the receiving end: I see a guard
break coming from a million miles away. So i do nothing. Just stand there. No directional input. No button pressed. And i get guard broken. lol
On the dealing end. I see a player blocking, like literally running around with the gum bubble. Aim, push guard break button. I hear the "thudd" sound file. They BLOCK my guard break. lol
Anyone else noticed these?
>>
>>2152996
How it works is the game leaves your guard up for a bit after you block something, probably to make guard break setups work even in lag. What you need to do is use an action that forcibly cancels your guard. Dodges are generally the most reliable for this, although rarely you can get caught midair if you already used your dodge without resetting it via landing, midair jump, or getting hit.
The other way to cancel your guard is attacking, with the caveat that you can't be using an attack that has an auto-approach to it because you can guard cancel those auto-approach homing dashes and thus they don't cancel the guard because both actions are allowed to occur at the same time. If you're close enough then it'll skip the auto-approach to do the attack and this doesn't matter, but against ranged guard breaks like Drill's you might get hit from far enough away that the auto-approach kicks in and you don't cancel your guard in time So, attacks with no auto-approach like most of the SK8 moveset or most Specials are safest for this and if you're close enough then most other attacks are fine too. But if you can dodge, just do that.
As for people guarding your guard break, I'd need to see a clip of it. I've heard it happen to other people, but I've never seen it myself that I remember. Weird stuff does happen if two actions/reactions occur at the same time in this game, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like that. I've even seen Cannon guard cancel itself out of a gumbind before

Oh, and if you meant you didn't guard a projectile beforehand then it may have been the effect of Master of Change (webm related), the gum damage on Claws' Back Break Attack (the Break where they do a flip for the windup), or a delayed bind that you had stored. A delayed bind occurs when a gumbind and some other action like a break occur at the same time. You don't appear gumbound at first, but then the next attack that hits you triggers the gumbind with whatever gumbind duration is assigned to that attack. For example:

https://streamable.com/z7wf8y
Need to spend some more time with Ninja Yo-yo I think. The recent buff to Yo-yo Leap seems to have made it a lot more effective so long as you take Iron Bind. On the other hand, Iron Bind's cooltime nerf made Hurricane Shake for Balloon spam a lot less effective. Kinda needs Iron Bind either way because its strongest burst damage all uses launching moves and the damage is really low outside of that burst damage; which is not good for something with as short a gumbind duration as Balloon. Currently running
>(SP) Wall Shooter 12, Ninja Sense Pro 1, Stealing Hyena 13, Giant Killer 1, Iron Bind 13
since Wall Shooter makes Balloon's gum damage way more consistent and lets medium Balloon 1-shot bind. Works well with Leap to hold people in place. Another option is Master of Change, but I know from ASAKUSA Wheel that it's not going to have the damage to take advantage of that since Wheel just barely kills consistently thanks to Searcher
Finally settled on a similar build for Bird Drill too
>(AltSP) Master of Change 23, Stealing Hyena 13, Giant Killer 13, Ninjutsu Stock 1, Iron Bind 2
MoC instead of Wall Shooter since the range is shorter and it's more consistent, plus Stock for Horse, but same ideas otherwise. Sucks that every Balloon weapon needs Giant Killler.
Also, BR tournament tonight. Time to get that first tier 100 BR mission done

Tell me about it. Yo-yo build was doing great with tons of IPPON Masters and first places, but then you just get games where the respawns go out of their way to screw you over and broken projectile weapons are stealing free points from every clusterfuck dogpile. Completely worthless mode these days, just like Team Battle. No point to playing either one unless you feel like gambling.
Also, Season 21 complete. Ninjala complete too, I guess. Don't need to do these annoying missions again, don't need to play Battle Royale again, don't need to play Team Battle again. Nothing left but Turf.

>>
>>
>>
>>
Speaking of useless teammates. If those guys were awake, there was no way we would have lost that one. Also, just a tip for Wheel since it's a huge pain in the butt to play; for MoC, use Leap, then jump and Searcher, then recall and toss -> warp and follow up with NA or WA to finish. That'll kill most opponents. Using Searcher early is important since that'll drain their energy while they're bound. No idea if you were doing that or not, just spent a lot of time with Wheel
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>2266233
Yeah, there are a ton of cool things you can do with it! If you dash toward someone after most WAs, you can use Break Recall for some unburstable damage to end a combo with too. On Yo-yo, NA -> WA2 -> Break Recall seems like the best burst damage if you don't have Leap available and are using Iron Bind. For Wheel, I think being able to fight at the same range you can shoot Searcher at is the best thing it's got going for it. The warp strike finally does enough damage to kill consistently and while a toss + revall does as much down value as a Break, the warp itself has 0 down value so you can easily combo somebody to death with NAx2 -> WA3 loops and such after draining their energy. Searcher -> Break isn't too bad for guard breaks either, and as long as you don't use your dodge beforehand you can still dodge out of most parries to use that are your IPPON condition

LID was a somewhat popular soulslike, but the monetization and other stuff put people off of it. Then they made Deathverse, which was a jank pvp-only battle royale which barely seemed related to the first game. It flopped, so they took it down to work on it some more. They worked on it so much that they said it basically became Let It Die 3. Then Let It Die Inferno released, and both the combat and the monetization were even worse than the previous games. It also changed genre again to be an extraction brawler with very limited inventory space, so of course it flopped too. Most people didn't even realize it came out, and last I heard it had a total of 3 players online.
Then shortly after, they decided to let the original Let It Die servers die and are putting out a (paid?) offline mode so people could still play it. If anything, I'd say they finally gave up on this series. Time will tell if they actually learned anything from it though

The pattern laid out here would abundantly imply that they did not learn their lesson in the sligtest. So long as the PAD money keeps bailing them out they won't notice why all their stuff keeps flopping.
Though I do wonder if LID retiring would mean that they pay more attention to Ninjala.
I kinda dread the idea in the same way a monkey's paw would feel.

I thought that maybe they could reuse those servers for Ninjala now that LID doesn't need them, but yeah I doubt they'll learn anything from this. They really are that incompetent, so your dread is warranted.
Also, my Yo-yo build is probably perfect at this point, or at least I can't fit anything else in.
>(SP) Wall Shooter 2, Stealing Hyena 13, Giant Killer 1, Iron Bind 3, Berserker 12
Berserker is more for BR/TB, but the weapon really could have used it when I tried it out in the tournament since its large Balloon setups are way more reliable than Hyena or Wall Shooter with medium Balloon. It's very good at stealing kills with long-range unburstable damage and burst damage, even after all these years. Better than Cannon in some ways
Have a ton of clips to dump, but I guess I'll start with the ones from that tournament + tier 100 grind. Reviewing these showed me that I could have gotten big weapon much sooner if I'd taken Berserker. Weapon's way better at fighting than droning thanks to how Balloon combos work. Can live without Ninja Sense Pro like I had here.

Had to switch as the tournament went on since nothing was left but broken weapons after a while and it wasn't worth playing anymore outside of getting BR missions done. Calibur can still deal with them well enough, thankfully

Mainly for simultaneous IPPONs, but also because I felt like practicing small/medium Net -> Utsusemi combos with it. Webm related

Oh yeah, a lot of these matches were total clusterfucks because of the respawns. Some were so bad I basically couldn't play the game and didn't get any clips worth sharing. This was my last BR match with Yo-yo for a reason
>https://streamable.com/8loyod
Parting Utsusemi was a plague too, almost everyone was using it so it dragged down every game. That's half the reason I switched to Calibur. Buffing that card was one of the dumbest decisions GungHo ever made with Ninjala.

Pop Eye is the same way; my build seems complete at this point (although I miss Giant Killer), but I feel like there are still ways to improve my play with it. Skill ceiling isn't as high as Yo-yo, but it's up there since it lacks reliable gumbind combos

Yeah, they're going for the same strat and had cheats to boot so there wasn't much Wheel could do. P2W HP can really screw it over since it relies on the big damage it's got. Also, swapped out GGM for Turnabout Guard because I felt like I needed some tankiness to really get the most out of this setup. Can't hit a group with Gum Net/Hurricane Shake/Ninja Tornado if I die first

It seems like Yo-yo Leap fits Ninja Yo-yo more after the damage and range buffs it got. Works much better with the long range needed for Balloon. Same for Spinner with Hurricane Shake; it can still use Leap, but Net tends to mess up more at long range and the range buff NA got a while back lets it play at midrange without issue anyway. Neither one wants to be at close range, the moveset isn't built for that even with Shake. Iron Bind's nerf also supports those Specials; with Iron Bind, you can't spam Balloon with Shake anymore and missing a Net with Leap is very painful because refreshing the cooltime takes longer and leaves you open. It's also painful to not have Iron Bind on either one due to low damage without it.
Pretty cool to see the traditional uses for these Specials flipped around with the last few updates. Need to try Utsusemi with Spinner some more this weekend to take advantage of all that area denial it's got with Shake + Net
