Winning a close match where both your bases are down to the minimum points, and you stop the shieldbreaker carrier just before they reach your base is a great buzz

Tried the game out since I heard it was dying. I had fun. It's an alright game not my favorite thing ever but it was okay, the concept is interesting.
I don't get the intense hatred it got. It's like a 6/10 game, better than Paladins.

I hope they commit to retooling it, not just turning the game into another A/D Bomber release. It was fucked before, but the idea was there and helped feed into the experience of properly being a raid instead of just de_dust2_hg

A high-intensity 5v5 showdown
In Raid Rush, 2 teams of 5 players will take turns attacking and defending their bases with no pesky looting phase in between.
Instead, select your base and use Trader Flynn to upgrade your weapons and equipment in a round based format. After each round, you’ll switch sides between attacking and defending. Your base walls and generators will be repaired, and you’ll be rewarded some Vesper to spend at the Trader, who will have different offers after every round. And don’t worry about buying armor - everyone has the same armor, and it will escalate in rarity as the rounds progress.
This mode plays fast and is the perfect place to get a quick hit of action!

I wouldn't really blame Geoff. The fact that they're shutting down now means that they nevertheless needed a lot of players to keep things alive, and that wasn't going to happen with the issues the game had and how little they explained/advertised it when it did get shown off. I understand that the way the stage was set did prime a lot of people to be a lot more overreactive to its flaws, but the flaws were still there, and the fact that the game is outright dead shows additional mismanagement behind the scenes.
Maybe in a best case scenario, it would've had a small scene of 1,000 or so dedicated players that could kinda coax people into trying it with them occasionally because it didn't have the stigma it did, but what's done is done.
Maybe in the future, it might get brought back by the people who do like the unique features of it (e.g. Lawbreakers being freed from the shackles of CliffyB's snark and activism). I've always said that the game would be absolutely fun if they just used the tutorial map (since it's of far more reasonable scale), and it'd be really funny if people somehow got a private server going with it modified to be playable, and suddenly the game actually is worth inviting people to try.

Honestly? I might try to clone it in Warcraft 3 or something. Having to run around and fight over resources, spending gold at the shop, and then attacking the enemy base reminded of that quite a bit. Specifically because it felt closer to the normal gameplay War3 gameplay instead of another MOBA.

NGL the hate for this game was massively overblown. This game wasn't amazing or anything but it had good bones. It became trendy to shit on it and that really hurt it.
I'm not going to cry over it being gone but I do think it could have been improved had it been given a fair chance.

Maybe. I know for sure that I personally thought it was boring as fucking sin, but I also still kept an eye on the game because yeah if they could fix the issues with being fuckhueg with too few players, I could tell it would be fun.
It's just in that kind of situation where like, it's its own fault that it lost so many players, but you can definitely argue the fact that it's outright dead this early is due to the needless dogpiling. There's just no real path forward to fixing the game when any news of them trying to do so will just be drowned out by shitposting, which barely cared about how bad the game was to begin with, and they already experienced examples of this given the reaction to the 5v5 and raiding only modes they tried out.
I know of a lot more F2P slop that had far fewer players and still get attempts to improve it, but those games don't have a massive hate crusade that obsessed over them literally every single day up until launch and for basically its entire life afterwards

I didn't hate on it, even if I found the announcement really funny, but I genuinely don't get the appeal. It looked you were a peasant version of a Destiny character with a horse. I'll admit that I don't have any interest in the genre but at least with most successful games I can get an idea of the "fantasy" the game is trying to hook you in with. I never understood where the actual hook was supposed to be with Highguard.
