I mean how anal are the jannies in Rewritten in terms of private speedchat+ whispers? Surely they don't actively monitor every single private whisper unless you report or something.

Congrats to Chewy and Trendy Cat for making it to top cog destroyers in March by the end of this. I know a few of you made it to CEO which is basically the base game final boss which is cool. I know Nifty was on there at one point too.

Short review of Toontown:
>Was nostalgic to play again. There's something quite charming and fun about it despite it being sloggish and repetitive. Speedchat is funny. I don't think it's a game you're meant to stick with but instead have to dip in and out of. I think 2 weeks is the limit for me before it all gets repetitive.

Short review of Corporate Clash:
>Improves on every aspect of Toontown except one. Feels almost like a sequel with the amount of QoL changes. You can probably figure out the except one as it seems to be everyone's gripe. Which is, the main taskline they've added sucks. The side quests are fine, the kudos board is fine and basically the old Toontown task system, but the main quest is just boring go to streets talk to NPC listen to them talk about water coolers, go to next street etc. Also the fact they locked content behind the main task which wasnt a thing in original Toontown. That's the number one thing they have to improve on, if they're gonna have a main task line give it a better story and make it shorter because I found myself overlevelled by the end of each playground's task line. The best addition were the boss cogs especially the wandering street boss cogs. Even though they all have dumb OC Undertale-tier backstories a lot of that is just relegated to their discord and wiki. Wish there were more players which TTR outshines them on for sure, but can understand that previous controversies drove everyone away.

Basically yeah a fun time and fun two weeks, best parts were just dicking around with you guys on mini games, or fighting the boss cogs together.

I wish Toontown went in a different direction for endgame rather than all the instanced crap that separates you from the rest of the world.
The initial charm of Toontown came from how connected you felt to other people and connected you felt to the Toon world while playing.
You'd walk down a street and see someone fishing and join in, or be struggling in a battle on the street and some other toon would see you struggling then jump in and help you out.

Instead of the instanced challenges the devs implemented at the bot HQs, they should have made them open to the whole world somehow, even if that meant it was much more challenging to "defeat" a bot HQ.
Imagine knowing that your fellow toons are somewhere climbing and making progression up that HQ, but as they've made progress, the cogs that toon troup already defeated behind them have replenished over time, causing a barrier for your new party to overcome before you can help the party further along, but your party might be able to reach them before the end, especially if the other party is stuck up there with too little resources left and need reinforcements they may or may not have called you for through whipsers or something.

And then when a HQ is actually defeated through much harder efforts, all toons of that world can see a physical change in the HQ, becoming more toon like instead of dull and corporate looking until enough cogs get back in control again.
Would have been way more fun.

and with this chapter closed, some closing thoughts
>this was a delightful retread of game through new lens with corporate clash.
>The new content shines the brightest with the new mechanics in fights, new bosses and new content.
>The guild system and interacting with everyone was a real joy. There was some great chat and fun times all around.
>The main taskline is as many others have mentioned previously a problem of who gives a fuck. There could have been more engaging bosses as part of the main task and not just fetch quests over and over.
>I've since learned that some of the new bosses are locked behind seasonal content which is just, why? Make that permanent.
>Same with the kudos bosses, why is that locked behind a grind? Make a weaker version part of the main task and have more powerful versions as an endgame thing.
>The completely new stuff is very hit or miss with it's art direction. Sometimes it's good, other times it classes with what the original was going for. I get the impression the devs forgot the cogs are meant to be the bad soulless suits kek
It's not a perfect game but it is 1000% an improvement over vanilla. Thanks everyone who joined and tagteamed with me on stuff.

>>2291369
>Same with the kudos bosses, why is that locked behind a grind? Make a weaker version part of the main task and have more powerful versions as an endgame thing.
you guys just need to not fucking rush the main taskline when all the best fights are kudos-related. I wouldn't be surprised if some of you never even fought prethinker
>>
>>2291453
>you guys just need to not fucking rush the main taskline when all the best fights are kudos-related.
no
put cool shit in the main taskline that is currently full of fetch quests and games of telephone, dont hide it in the corner
you can have a harder version of the boss as an end game thing
>>
>>2291304
Well done. I think 15 days still counts in beating the game in MMOdventure time.
>>
>>2291321
Yeah thats the main aspect of Toontown, joining it. Its ultimately all about joining in and working together and thats what its trying to teach with its mechanics, especially the ability to just jump into a battle. The cool thing about Toontown was always random people joining in to help you and how nice people were. Higher level players just roaming the streets to instakill stuff for you for example, or Toon up you.

Thats why TTR works more for me than CC, because you actually see people around on the streets and they join in and help you, which is why I ended up progressing further in TTR than in CC because battles and tasks feel quicker because of the amount of people joining in.

gigantic beanfest in thwackville, toontown rewritten

yee, Nifty did it first earlier today and I followed suit. feels good
>>
>>2291369
>I get the impression the devs forgot the cogs are meant to be the bad soulless suits kek
They absolutely did going by the cogs wiki descriptions. From what I played it didnt' seem to interfere with the game much and they didn't introduce those aspects into the game.

Their discord and social media seems to mostly be about Cog OCs, Cogsonas, Cog discussions. Definitely tone deaf about the game.

C.L.O. was fun. It's funny how in one of the few times ~plot~ peeks out it's referencing some FOMO event that happened ages ago which has allegedly been retconned? Even though said acknowledgement is still in the game.

How's the game doing nowadays? Have they launched any big content on par with the 4 cog headquarters? Can you still get groups and stuff? The original version was my fav mmo back then, had lots of fun with it

This shit is so kino and it's a tragedy that the two weeks weren't scheduled in line for it. You get scaled for everything too so it doesn't matter where you're at. God forbid you don't make it abundantly clear that you're new to it, though, and even then I don't think that's quite enough to quell any maxed out endgame speedrunner's rage for whenever you take more than a zeptosecond to read the dozen-something mechanics per phase.
>>
>>2336131
for real, its a genuine shame the group didn't get a chance to experience this
it's such a standout fight, locking it to only April is such a baffling design choice from the dev team

rw acted first after the closure of the original and markets itself better unlike cc
you're more likely to hear through osmosis about rw first because its THE private server for this game, if you google toontown on google it's the first result, that goes a long way in public perception when people pick a server to play on. then there might be a drop off of people who will just move on instead of trying other servers.
like how when googling a wiki for a game fandom is more likely to be the first result over wiki gg, doesn't exactly correlate but you catch my drift
>>
>>2348130
Most people coming to play TTO are either people who have already made it their personal comfort game or people trying to relive the 2000s.
Neither of these groups are looking for something different than what TTO was when it closed. I'm almost positive this is why all of TTR's original content updates are small and have not done anything to shake up the core experience. They know their job isn't to innovate on the formula it's just to preserve this little window of nostalgia and occasionally and a little more to the endgame experience.
CC meanwhile is a straight up Ship of Theseus designed for people who want something completely new and the overlap in the Venn diagram of TTO fans and people who want something new is very thin.
