Is it just me, or does it seem almost impossible to find a good multiplayer game these days?
>Steam runs sale
>try MW2019
>refund because it’s just not fun
>”I’ll try again tomorrow”
>end up looking on Steam all night
>end up not playing anything
>still can’t seem to find something that peaks my interest like DayZ, Rust, or Tarkov
>consider going back to Garry’s Mod rp, or playing something like Space Station 13

>Getting into space station 13 in 2026 when 99% of the playerbase already left and there are like 1 or 2 people online most of the time and its on a huge ass map designed to fit 50+ people so you probably wont even run into the other person while playing
Not a very multiplayer experience tbdesu

Last year I played it there were quite a few people online.

Cheating is out of control atm which really kills my desire to play

Multiplayer games have gotten worse. Even games that were decent at one point end up ruined and losing a lot of players with shitty updates.

This too, I've even seen multiple people trying to hide their cheats when the game has like 20 players max. It's just an even bigger problem with bigger games and people taking things too seriously.

The only thing I really play for multiplayer anymore is Sven Co-op.

There are cheaters, yeah. But like my thing is I look on steam and so many games I see look too cartoonish, or seem almost geared towards streamers with little to no real depth.
Maybe I just don’t know what I’m looking for. Idk.

>Sven Co-op
Anon, what’s that?

Half-Life 1 co-op, but there's a ton of custom content for it too. There were /vm/ threads for it for a while but I haven't seen one lately.

That sounds fun.

It's not just that multiplayer got worse but vidya is now filled with tons and tons of people you would not usually want to play games with

SS13 as you knew it is dead. ERP sex servers reign supreme, even TG kinda died. Goonstation is still alive, but the true quality servers comes from the spin-off games like Lifebread or IS12. Both of them are private but are much more fun. The communities here are kinda trash

I know the feeling. I play Wild Assault. Been playing it since Season 1. Had good fun in that season, but since then, I stopped having fun. Now it seems more like a chore, just grinding to get the next level or unlock a new skin. The excitement is not there. I have friends on there, but it's difficult for me to play with them. I'm typically very hard on myself to perform incredibly well and just about everyone in that game is like world champion good, at least to me. I just feel so outclassed that I don't want to play with anyone. Plus, when I'm getting beat down, I get annoyed while everyone else seems to be happy and joking. I sometimes feel like they're not human because none of them ever seem to get mad or upset. It's surreal.
I have not had fun in multiplayer games since Paladins. Technically, it's still around, but I have not touched it since the dev team was laid off and it went into eternal hiatus.

No. There are plenty of solid games you could play and enjoy, both old and relatively new. What has actually changed is you yourself and the society around you and online scenes. The reason you'll gravitate to the same old games isn't because they're better, but because the familiarity and memories keep you playing when nothing else fits the bill. Especially so if nobody is with you.

You can't or hardly can enjoy multiplayer games now precisely because modern society is awful.

Cheating in any online game is so out of control, and if you're any good you're gonna catch endless shit if you do something weird or accidental. It's a giant mess.

Even small games that never have more than 20~ players at a time I see multiple cheaters. It's pretty bad. Unless someone is blatantly cheating then trying to point out someone is cheating usually just has people immediately start attacking you instead too. If your profile is private people will accuse you of cheating.

That's probably one reason I started playing co-op games instead because if someone is cheating there it can be funny.

there are no good multiplayer games left.
e-sports and twitch streamers ruined multiplayer.
they're either monetized to shit, or tryhards pretending like they'll get famous off of being good at CoD on twitch.

nah. people commonly complain about how multiplayer games have gotten worse and use valid points to explain why. stop trying to diagnose mental illnesses because someone said they don't like an aspect of video games.

if you have a group of friends, you can try some games like tabletops, like Viractal or try some other games like 2d action side scroller like Dragon marked for death, but if you depend on playing with randoms and matchmaking, yeah, thats where things become hard, on one part, usually the same 2-3 genres are alive and usually concentrated among 4-5 games of said genre, with all others being mostly only played by dedicated players that will trunce you the moment you try to get into it.

This is a huge problem in L4D / L4D2. Not to mention the constant DDOS attacks. If some third world faggot decides he doesn't like you, boom, in an instant he can make it so that every server you join gets DDOS'd.
>Outplay someone by skeeting their Hunter or landing a Death Charge or anything really
>Suddenly can no longer play the game
>Can't even play with friends from this point
