It might have some obscure ribbon that Champions doesn't recognize. But then again it should recognize anything that Home accepts.

I only needed one DS and one 3DS. I got him to the different games on the 3DS by just using bank at the time.
He's not as Old nor Ribboned as my Clefable (who did go all the way from the gameboy to sun) but he has all that he can from his game of origin onward.

I don't have my phone at the moment to get a picture of him in his current game, but I have this one of him from Gen 7, which still has pretty much all of his ribbons. His moveset is Synthesis/Giga Drain/Sludge Bomb/Earth Power, nothing out of the ordinary or unusual, and it's even what I trained the gift Venusaur to have in Champions as well so it's definitely not a problem with his moves. The only difference between the Venusaur then and now is that it has the other region champion ribbons.

What bothers me the most, in particular, is that it's not just that this Venusaur isn't being allowed in.
It's that among that group was also my Charizard, who I trained a little later after I got him, and that Charizard ALSO has the exact same collection of Ribbons that the Venusaur has, and that Charizard WAS allowed into Champions. On top of that my Volcarona still has Hidden Power, which is still removed, and the Volcarona was also allowed into Champions as well despite the now-illegal move because the move just got replaced. The Zard even gets to keep the new title from his equipped ribbon (shining star). So I really just don't get why this is happening. I even changed a different mon's name to have the same name as that Venusaur and transferred it in to see if that was the problem and that Pokemon was also allowed in so it isn't even some fringe nickname issue, it's literally just that it refuses to accept my Venusaur.

has anyone confirmed if the two titles that pokemon can earn in champions register as ribbons or marks or comething like that? because that would mean that you'd have to go through champions too in order to get them all

As it turned out the nickname for the Machamp I had tested this with got reset when I went to check, and when I tried to re-enter the nickname, I got the message "you cannot enter this name".
Testing to narrow down revealed that the source of the problem is "ku".
For some reason, "ku" is banned and forbidden, and "kut" is also banned and forbidden. "Alku" was fine. "Alkut" was not. "Lku" was not. "Kut" was not. So this is some cofagrigrus situation but even more retarded because I for the life of me cannot get what the problem with it is. But even then it removed it from the Machamp and they used to just default Pokemon names to the species name online. If this really is the only problem with the Venusaur then it's just incredibly annoying, since I would've never foreseen this name becoming a problem years down the line.

Thank you anons for helping me though, I really appreciate it. Hopefully they either fix this dumb issue or I manage to find some other way.
My Charizard has been cleaning house though, so there's that at least. I used to use him with his mega all the time back in the day for doubles, but getting to use it in singles now has been really nice. So hopefully someday his buddy can join him.

I didn't know there were titles to be gained but from looking it up it seems that there's only two titles you can get, and neither one of them will carry over if you bring the pokemon back into home, so they're exclusively for Champions.
