It's... good if you want to experience Pokemon as a gacha game early in it's life. But a lot of Pokefags just now discovers this kind of the game and spergs out about "missing" content and grind/skipping grind with cash.

The hilarity about it is that they spent the first few days dissing it only to come back when it's clearly a goldmine for content.
Then there's this fucker
>yes, you can gain VP easily but soon you will learn that's not enough

I have two singles teams and have built a doubles sun, snow, rain, trick room and balance team. I always bought all the items in the shop and a bunch of cosmetics. I still have over 40k VP. I think that's because I've ignored the gacha, I have Shield and play GO. So I don't need to spend VP rolling for pokemon. I have to imagine anyone struggling with VP is wasting it all in the ranch.

Joe is just mega autistic dude sperging out about nothing and believing that his shitty website is somehow a center of Pokemon fandom. Literally delusional faggot.
Like, nobody should take seriously someone who spend his honeymoon refreshing Pokemon website for news...

Is the vp really that big of an issue?
You can just use home for most mons right?

You get 300/100 from winning/losing as long as you don't quit too fast so as long as you keep playing and doing dailies, you won't run out any time soon.
That fucker just wanted to be vindicated for his earlier "opinions"

It stripped away 80% of the pokedex, locked it to the worst battle format, removed 90% of the ingame hold items, has gacha slop levels of monetization, is objectively worse than a free fanmade battler in showdown, and has a rank system that just fucking sucks to climb to the highest bracket.
But yeah, it's fun.

Don't judge, it works.

It's pretty terrible because of all the sweats and nothing to do besides fight sweats there's no single player mode at all it's basically an excuse for Gamefreak to cut out all online support besides mystery gifts from mainline games and focusing entirely on a single player experience either to make the mainline games come out faster or to just nickle and dime people for a feature that used to come standard. Welcome to capitalism you'll pay for the air you breathe to make line go up someday

We'll just have to wait and see how predatory the monetization will be, but for now it's really not bad.
The game itself is free free and you can transfer mons from the main game for free as well.
Might even be a net win since you don't need to pay nso to play the ladder.

Isn't the city the game is set in literally called Frontier?
Seems like false advertisement not to have some single-player content.
Especially when the mobile crowd comes in and they have nowt to do but battle sweatlords.
There needs to be something to ease them in.

If you do all the starter shit the game gives you approximately enough quick tickets to get 10 rolls of the gacha, which is comfortably enough to cobble together a usable team when coupled with the starter set.
The more limiting thing is the box space, and I think this is a viable complaint. If you don't get the starter package/the insanely overpriced membership, you're limited to quite a small size. You can expand that by hitting certain bracket tiers, but even then I think it caps at 50(?) which fills up FAST.
Maybe not an issue if you stick to a core of 10 or so pokemon, but if like to experiment you're going to get hamstrung unless you have other means to store your 'mons like HOME.

Well consider the alternative, would you rather have:
1)Champion in its current beta-like state
2)Gen 10 rushed to release a year earlier
3)The 5th year of VGC, or Pokémon in general, on SV yet again
I think option 1 that we got is the best. It's great game to be the VGC hub as they gradually patch in more mons and items.
