Mine has a cyberspace/megaman-esque gameplay layer where you jack into a virtual world:
>charcadet as a “starter” in this zone
>digital pokemon like porygon, rotom/forms as mobs
>other “videogame”-ish pokemon like tinkaton (humaoid with massive weapon) and dragupult (space invader / bullet hell ship)
>paradox future mons iron-valiant and iron-jugulis as version exclusive main bosses
>shuckle is a bug in the code (minmaxed stats)
>unown as “source code” in that dimension
>mew/mewtwo and kabutops/genesect part of the main story; evil teams trying to make artificial pokemon
>victini as the ultimate thing every team is chasing becauae it lets you “hack” the dimension to always win

Because Yveltal is supposed to be the main villain. After the evil team withered tree of life, it awakened & drained every lifepower of Xerneas & summoned Ruinous quartet to destroy the whole region.

Player needs to catch Celebi to time travel into past, and save tree of Xerneas from withering

that’s sick. now makes me feel like i wasted spots the in mine that weren’t dedicated to lore or cool interactions lol. i feel like urs could also have similar to the “legendary beasts are eeveelutions revived by ho-oh” theory, where the beasts of ruin are just pokemon corrupted/revived by yveltal, like nacli, alolan vulpix, swinub, magikarp, etc
