Quick FAQ
>Do I need my own Pokémon to play?
No, the game features a recruitment system, but transferring from Home is recommended to save time and resources.
>What makes the game so much more accessible than before?
All aspects of a Pokémon are customizable with VP, a currency earned simply by playing the game. IVs are also removed.
>Is there single player content?
No.
>Do I need a Nintendo Online subscription?
No.
>What's the starter pack?
US$6.99 one time purchase for 50 training tickets (fully train for free), 30 quick coupons, 50 extra box space and the LGPE trainer music.
>Is anything locked behind a paywall?
So far everything gameplay relevant is also purchasable with VP. Mega Kalos starters and E-Floette require ZA transfer.

I don't think people will be happy if you make many currently available mons unavailable in future regulations. I'd be fine if they removed a couple of bullshit pokemon (incineror) to mix things up, but if 30+ mons suddenly become unuseable it'll fuck over many peoples fav teams too hard.
I think they gotta just keep slowly adding mons at this point, which is fine, but It woulda been nice if shit like incineror/archaludon/sneasler weren't already fucking shit up in the pool.

Aromatisse is one of my favorite pokemon and I feel like I have to use it now cuz as soon as they add more pokemon it'll go from unviable to unusable. Most fun I've had is more or less walling out Whimsicott since it can't taunt or encore when Aromatisse is on field.

They could possibly have 2 ranked pools. One for current regulation and one for every mon available in champions already. This is a game that could handle splitting the ranked playerbase and that way people wont lose their fav teams and get to splash around in a new meta
This is reasonable and easy to do so gamefreak wont let it happen. Theyll do something even dumber and lazier

Obviously Peli to set the rain, you can run him as tailwind support or some insane scarf build to nuke under it. Arch is a good Special attack and has great bulk. Those two are probably your core that you run in every team imo.
For megas you can either go all-in on the rain with mega Blastoise or run something for coverage like Meganium/Gard. H-Arcanine for E-Speed/Rock coverage is good as your Intimidate setter, or you could go Gary with a supportive/bulk set-up or a physical attacker or just run Incelroar like everyone else because he's that good. Everyone is running Basculegion as a physical sweeper right now for insane Wave Crashes so that's an option, but I feel like people are going to be expecting that and will plan accordingly.
I feel like Rain has the most options for building under, so I'm sure you can find something else that works for you.

>>
>>
>>59182080
I think Peli has better coverage on its moves but you could probably run Politoed. The biggest thing is Peli gets access to Tailwind, so you often need to run another Tailwind setter which can limit your team options.

>>59182029
I think it feels worse than it actually is. The combination of mental herb sneasler being the most popular set, rain being prevalent and no grassy terrain to smooth out the eq matchup feels bad but it's still probably the best balance intimidater with gyarados as a close second imo

You probably don't have the skills to build your own team for now, borrow a team that seems interesting to you and preferably one that's relatively straight-forward.

It's obviously a high skill ceiling Pokemon. Guaranteeing a burn on anything that touches it is incredibly strong in theory, and just needed time to figure out how to build around and play it optimally.
Anyway his set is Overheat/Leech Seed/Rage Powder/Protect.
>>
>>59182202
I used it to get to Master Ball on day two because I needed a substitute for Mega Metagross on the rain team I had prepared ahead of time. It's "okay." I dropped the team later because it wasn't keeping up with the meta.

Cutting offensive items like the Choice items, LO, and offensive pinch berries is fine for a format they want to be "low power." The problem is they cut key defensive items like the Covert Cloak, Clear Amulet, Assault Vest, and Safety Goggles, so some strategies just have little to no counterplay right now. Like, you're not going to bring your grass type into the sun matchup to block Venusaur's sleep powder and without goggles on a fire mon, there's nothing you can do about it other than like Overcoat Kommo-O?

What's the better choice for Mega Evo on a Sandstorm team, Tyranitar up front or Garchomp in the back? I usually lead T-tar and Corviknight or Excadrill. Actually I've also found Midnight Lycanroc to be pretty good with a Choice Scarf and No Guard Stone Edges. Same with Kleavor if I can pull off a tailwind. I'm at Ultra 2 btw

I made it to Masterball 3 with a rain team. My "core four" are
1.Pelipper w/ focus sash. tailwind, wide guard, hurrican, weatherball
2.Archaludon (stamina) w/ leftovers. electro shot, flash cannon, dragon pulse, protect
3.Basculegion male (adaptability) w/ mystic water. wave crash, aqua jet, lest respects, protect
4.Mega Dragonite (multiscale) w/ dragoniteite. hurricane, thunder, dragon pulse, extreme speed
I run Milotic (competitive) w/ sitrus berry. scald, ice beam, protect, dealers choice (i run life dew, and basicall never click it). Milotic replaces arch if i see sneazler and basc if i see incin (also arch if i see both)
I've tried choice scarf politoed running weatherball, ice beam, earth power, psychic and found it underwhelming. like it 2 hits opposing arch's w/ earth power in the mirror but in every other situation pelipper is just better (hurricane 1 shots sinestra and whimsicott, also sneazler)

Its situational for sure, but wide guard can be better than protect if both opponents go for spread moves cuz it protects both mons and the partner still gets to attack. I do find that trick only works once per battle tho
>>
>>59182676
I'm running a similar team but with Mega Gengar instead of Dragonite. I almost feel dirty for using it since I'm just copying what I hear is meta, but I heard rain teams are a good way to learn how to play competitive pokemon.

Good typing, immune to priority, has a signature move that can break through sash, etc. generally you're gonna run full bulk sets but there is value in dropped defense investment for special attack to grab surprise KOs. Basically dual stab trick room and a support move is gonna be your go to sets, I prefer helping hand but ig protect or another support move could work. For item, imo your best is mental herb to beat encore and taunt but I could see colbur Berry also being high value

flutter is like the easiest shiny to get in the game, about the same as normal if not a little worse. get yourself a nice title on it.
chi-yu is locked with an event only one but looks amazing.
gold isn't even different
ursaluna is red, I think it looks good
locked
blue dragon head

about the same but i like it
locked

a bit oranger
awesome shiny in mega, ugly in base
event locked, looks bad
cool, annoying to get on switch 1 with frame drops
event locked, couldn't tell you
pretty cool
original zapdos colors, looks great imo but event/pokemon go random encounter locked
solid, it's blue
i like it a lot, swaps the back and front colors
great ball shroom
looks swag
ugly
locked
all silver except the yellow, kinda average
i couldn't tell you which is which
not enough difference
locked
bland green
barely a difference
yellow, nothing special
swag
this alabaman wants to be free, get her in a cute ball
10/10 best shiny from the new mons
just more silver, boring but ok
really like the darker colors and blue
darker horns, about the same but cute none the less
looks great
you can't tell
better colors but not a huge difference
koraidon is the best event shiny

Anyone with a brain knew it would be a flop once the ability was revealed
Doubling Speed+an Item is significantly better value than a nominal boost to damage and defense+sometimes hitting through protect
Urshifu was broken because the moves it would use to bypass protect 99% of the time were super strong and always crit AND he could use an item with them and had no opportunity cost. It's all that combined that made it broken, Drill only gets the benefit of hitting through protect which ends up not being worth it.

heh, ran into my first time limit draw. Didn't know the rest of the turn still plays out after the timer drops to zero. They should really take into account how many Pokémon each player has at the end, because I ended up KO'ing two of his mons, leaving the score 3 to 1.

That's Watchog. Castform is a shitmon but it's a shitmon with a wholly unique gimmick.
Watchog only has Hypnosis and Super Fang access going for it, but being frail AND slow AND having no offense and useless abilities (two of which that have been modified to do the exact same thing) do nothing for it

Used to run Mega Feraligatr with 2 obvious picks, Incin and Whimsicott. He's not slow enough for trickroom so tailwind it is. Then played Pelipper Basculgeion Archaludon. Turns out if you just go full rain team and dump the Feraligatr for a Dragonite it works a lot better and easier. Trying to force Feraligatr did nothing. I like sinistcha for redirect/heal + fighting immune switch in for t-tar. Trick room too.
If you want to be more unortodox (unlikely based on your other picks), I've been getting surprisingly good results with runerigus with a ttar that has trick room/willowisp/ally switch/curse.
I still haven't tested in game its kinda niche, but if you smack runerigus with a weak contact move on ttar they swap abilities and reset the sand, ally swapping into fighting moves is hilarious too

I've climbed to ultra with passimian/whimsicott lead to have access to prankster coaching, but I can't get the main sweeper and 4th slots consistent enough to secure wins.
cott is running max Spe and SpA with encore/protect/memento/psychic and sim is running max Spe and Atk with coaching/protect/upper hand/close combat
I've been getting prankster over more often than not and securing surprise kills on sneasler, incin, arch, and kingambit leads by changing up my opening, and sacking cott to charizards in the sun tends to work out too.
Problem is, I've tried various combinations of stuff like mega golurk, palafin, and dragapult to receive coaching with supporting sets like rage powder volcarona for redirecting, aurora veil ninetales for bulk, oranguru even for instruct shenanigans, but this half of the game keeps falling apart either due to thudding into the perfect counter, or the support mon not being able to keep up.
It's been fun working out the kinks, but I'm reaching the limits of my brainpower, could anything make coaching more workable or should I finally scrap it?

Defiant is probably better
defiant gives you +1 attack stage (+50%) when it triggers and can trigger multiple times, while supreme overlord gives you +10% per dead teamate when gambit comes in so realistically you're not getting more than 10-20% and only when you keep him in the back

I mention a different ability just because as a pure Flying it wouldn't have a 4x weaknesses, and without that Multiscale just doesn't provide as much 'value for money'. So I thought the most natural fit then would just to be to stick with its other base form ability.
But if you wanted to be creative/exotic, I thought Guts or Marvel Scale would be interesting while not being out-of-sync thematically with its design. Guts would obviously boost its Att to surpass even its 145 SpAtt. Imagine the offensive possibilities.
Alternatively, Marvel Scale could turn it into a very durable tank with dangerous Body Press potential.

Maybe this game is not for you. You shower in VP in this game, and resources to plan out teams in this game is plentiful. How does it take more than 5 minutes after getting your mon to make it battle ready?

I'm mad that most of the new megas have either poor stat distributions or useless abilities, like hell if they wanted to make dragonite a special attacker they should have give it an ability that actually works well as an special attacker like contrary, sheer force, soul heart or just a new ability like meganium and feral got
