Thread #59182767
I think Regional forms should be given their own names and dex numbers
Sorry, I just do

Regional forms were a knee jerk, panic reaction to the number of pokemon getting too high.
It happened anyways, but Alolan and Galarian forms were just a scam to make pokemon cross the big 1000 a bit slower
Notice they didn't add any Paldean forms, and just made shit like Toedscruel have dex entries, because they were going over 1000 anyways

But they're not. Regionals are pokémon known as one type in another region introduced to a new and adapting to its new climes, convergents are pokémon that developed to look like another pokémon, but have no actual relationship to the originals.

Regionals are the Pokemon we already knew, but adapting to a new climate through natural selection
convergents are Pokemon with a Common ancestor to the ones we already knew, having adapted to a different environment and evolved through natural selection
>Alolan Diglett is Digglet if it adapted to a tropical environment
>Wiglett is Diglett if their ancestor adapted to a tropical environment
Unnecessary
I will not accept that these are supposedly so fundamentally different that one deserves a new dex entry but not the other

>Pokemon with a Common ancestor
They don't have a common ancestor. They're just random Pokemon who happen to look/act the same. Like Sinestea and Poltchageist are just two completely different ghosts who happened to both inhabit tea containers.

Playing GO is funny when you've only played the older games and don't know all these new Pokemon or variants
