i’m going to try this again. before it came out seeing ads in magazines i fantasized it would be the coolest game and i got it many years later , maybe 2007, inexplicably and sucked. now i’m trying again. are you good at it? is there an ending? i haven’t looked up anything so as to not spoil it. this feels like i can play it properly now. i did the same returning to a few others recently and was able to git good. ridge racer type 4 i ditched years ago and recently had a blast returning to it and getting over what was for me a learning curve because i suck at racing games or used to. i want to believe i can become good at pirates gold. i have a similar issue with shadowrun on sega genesis.

it's great. there's really no reason not to play the 2004 remake though, it's just a more polished version of it. the objective of the game is to beat the 10 pirate quests in one playthrough (find your relatives, beat baron raymondo, plunder the spanish treasure fleet) but I can't remember if it even gives you a special ending

Your syntax is a little weird, but i think what you're trying to convey is:
"Was there a game concept you thought it would be cool, and then someone made it years later, but it wasn't as good as you'd hoped for?"
Why did you have to interchange 'sucked' with 'bad' or 'being bad at'?
Pirates of the Caribbean. I loved the movies and was sorely disappointed with the game

it looked really impressive, but the gameplay wasn't there to accompany it.
They were trying to copy gothic but failed to take in consideration the scale and scope of the project. So they panicked and rushed anything past the couple of hours, creating a huge mess.
They "Molyneux'd" themselves
...And it was ripe with exploits, even accidentally you could find a game-breaking glitch

anon is saying that he likes the game but he sucks at playing it so he gave up on it years ago, and recently now he’s going back and completing other games he previously abandoned due to being bad at them, and is finding that he can do it so far with ridge racer 4, another game he gave up playing due to being bad at it. he’s not saying the games suck, he is saying he sucks at playing it yet liked the game therefore is giving it a another chance.

Oh, i thought the "I'm going to try this again" was "Let me try to make this thread again"
This was a really confusing read
I see now
Probably driver, the tutorial is an absolute menace. I wonder how many kids never saw past that parking lot.
Even lewis fucking hamilton couldn't do it first try

I played this version through a few times this year.

Completely untrue, very different game. 2004 is also too long and filler ridden to play more than once. It's not a bad game but it's not the same game.

>it's great. there's really no reason not to play the 2004 remake though
how about not having a computer and the fact that i already have my tv, genesis and pirates cartridge. there’s no reason for you not to give me all your money and computer if you want me to play a remake. if you want me to emulate, put them on the computer you provide but i still need all of your money because there’s no reason not to give it to me, though

It's great, but yeah as others have said it's a different game. The gameplay feels more arcadey. Pirates Gold is a little more arcadey than the original too and has some QOL features like minimap and no sun sighting, but the 2004 game is much more arcadey than both, which isn't a bad thing just a different experience.

Yeah I gave up on Driver because of that fucking tutorial.

I got really hooked on it for a while but the game crashed and wouldn't even load my save anymore so I gave it up. It might have been because I was playing on Sega Channel but I've read that the Genesis version has a lot of bugs.

When me and my brother are playing games together (we're both late 30's and played this shit way back in the day when it was new) sometimes one of us will randomly say "I surrender" in the way that characters in this game did when you beat them in a duel.
For that reason alone it's an absolute legend of a game to me.
