I know /vr/ is far too gone to care about this and not just fling shit all day but, in one of the Gamest magazines, a few fans do show some displeasure towards Sakura due to her being too moe for the visual style Street Fighter used to have before and being clearly aimed at otaku, so even among the Japanese some people weren't happy with the series going from exaggerated martial artist to underage tomboys.
